| WOODEN DOLLER | THE DEMISE OF THE WOODEN DOLL |
| What a pity about the doll, the licencees had just about got it right, EXCELLENT food, especially SUNDAY Lunch, a real good selection of well kept guest ales,a staff that actually looked smart in their uniforms and unusual in these modern times actually looked as if they wanted to be there. I must totally disagree with the post of SANDRA, if bands are the saviour of the doll WHY have the last 4or more managers not got it right, with the BANDS banging away, on up to three nights a week, bringing with them the general disorder and more odour from the smoke?? they tend to attract. NO Sandra bands are not the saviour of the DOLL. Good managers Like the NEWLOVES brought this fine pub from the ABYSS it was in. IT IS though, the GREEDY thoughtless Freehold/Breweries with their EXTORTINATE rents that are the ruination of this pub. NO doubt the next short term sacrificial MANAGER will come along armed with a cheap in, cheap out deal, then once again ruin what the NEWLOVES had put into the pub. All the best to the NEWLOVES, WHO THE **** IS MELLOR?? |

| Sandra | joke |
| I see the Wooden doll has been closed down! no surprise there to be honest. while the decor is nice the management decided not to continue with the Live Music, this to me is a tragic mistake and The Wooden Doll has always been known for live bands.
with regards to a previous owner (initial TM) Be warned DO NOT WORK FOR HIM/GO INTO BUSINESS WITH HIM, HE WILL I GUARANTEE IT RIP YOU OFF. |

| WOODENDOLLER | |
| The WOODEN DOLL, has at last !!after several years of absolutely atrocious management has been taken over by BILL and CAROL (CAZ) to her friends, NEWLOVE. The pub has been given a top to toe refurb and is well and truly BACK Whilst the demize (sadly) of the Mag.bank continues in a downwards spiral the DOLL is flourishing. The new kitchen has been an inspiration to the pub as BILL and CAROL have many years in the trade and are both fine cooks, the kitchen is also complimented by the attentions of their young (Forever Smiling)daughter TRACY another fine cook.
The quality of the food is apparent by the queues of people waiting for their Sunday lunch as all good pub scranners like their sunday lunchtime treat.
BILL and CAROL being very experienced in good pub management skills take no prisoners if you step out of line and has developed a good, safe family orientated atmosphere.
BILL is an avid quizzie and runs a general knowledge quiz on Wednesdays 2100hrs and the specialist music quiz on Fridays 2130hrs. With good prizes on offer both days.
The doll is starting to put on good quality local music and the last visit I had, LIAM FENDER the excellent local singer songwriter was appearing and as usual his talent was obvious and from the heart. Carol and Tracy are well known for their SPECIAL song nights when all are welcome, if you can prise the mic from them!!
The new cellar is an obvious bonus as is the standard of real ales that have arrived with it, the selection of house and many fine guest ales is proof that the doll is BACK. The staff are very young eager to please and in the main very very smart (New Uniforms) and are in my opinion an asset in themselves.with their socialising skills coming to the fore.
I have no hesitation in making recommendation to the doll and that I will be back hopefully in the very near future for that special sunday scran with my pal and famous wordsmith Bob Peel. |

| Gamberoni | Getting there ... |
| It's taken a while, but the Doll is better than it has been at this time of year for a long while. Great selections of (Southern) real ales coming up, with sensible strengths -- summer beers in the summer what a novelty! Good food, reasonably priced too. Make sure you book on a Saturday at the moment. |

| sANDRA | pathetic |
| Its about time Wilf was out of The Wooden Doll, its such a shame he ruined its reputation before he left!!!
what a joke, this guy couldnt run a bath!!!!!
It is a shame to see the new refurb has left no space for bands as the previous (before wilf) landlords had built up a good reputation for hosting quality bands. |

| I HAVE RETURNED | THE DOLL GETS BETTER |
| THE WOODEN DOLL is back and looks like it going from strength to strength. I hope it does last longer than 6 months though - I think it will.
ps. I go to both THE DOLL and MAG BANK and have no links other than eating, drinking and paying! |

| I WILL RETURN | FINE PRAISE FOR THE WOODEN DOLL |
| In response to :MINESAPINT: I assure you I have no connection whatsoever to either Management or staff at the WOODEN DOLL, I am sure that the MANAGEMENT will be DELIGHTED with your comment of another venue being JUST AS GOOD as the DOLL.that venue being the MAG BANK, fine praise indeed the MAG being a very successful PUB over many years. I will pass your comments to the DOLL management and I am sure they will be gratefully received. |

| minesapint | I SMELL A RAT |
| By reading that last comment anyone would think that came from the management or staff !! Reads like an advert !!
Just like to add a comment - there is another venue just as good for live music and food and with a wine menu and thats the Mag Bank.
Best of luck to the doll, but the place has had that many people attempting to do the Mag out of trade and copy what they do that its going to take a hell of a long time to gain a reputation like the Mag has. |

| I WILL RETURN | FROM BROKEN DOLL TO WOODEN DOLL |
| At last the doll is on its way back into the real world of PUB life and not a playground for the IMMATURE. What a transformation it actually has beers.lagers spirits and an excellent new wine list for its customers to purchase(WHAT A NOVELTY) The RE-BRANDED MEDITERRANEAN style restaurant LA-CASALINGA has been turned into a fine eatery and was absolutely chocker on the nights we visited BOOK EARLY to avoid disappointment. The new management team of WILFand his executive CHEF and business partner TOM have well and truly dragged the BROKEN DOLL back from the ABYSS and can look forward to the accolades that are already once again being heaped upon this fine PUB/RESTAURANT THE WOODEN DOLL |

| Dave Elgie | OK BUT BEEN IN BETTER |
| This is a daytime pub. Dont bother at nights. Staff are just kids who have little idea of customer relations.
Occasional groups with live music for the heedbangers amongst you, but noisy, expensive and over-rated. Try the Porthole instead !! |
