 This small, comfortable, low-roofed bar half way down the Royal Mile has rough stone walls and tartan carpets and is a popular place for lunch with tourists. It has a varied and reasonable menu which is home cooked and was voted the best pub food in Edinburgh in 1998. The bar itself is broken into small areas of tables which includes a booth cut into the stone. There is live music a couple of times a week and quiz night is on Tuesday. The bar is not large but offers a decent selection of whiskies, a couple of decent cask ales and wine is available. The pub is accessed by steps from the street.Linda - Aug 2001 |
