Dropkick Murphys
Reviews
Dropkick MurphysAs you can see from the picture, Drop Kick Murphys was formerly known as Bertie's. For many years this was a late night drinking establishment in the Old Town. Now, as Drop Kick Murphys, this is the latest addition to Edinburghs Irish themed music bars. The bar is open from 8pm until 3am.

PaddyAwful
I visited dropkicks last week for the first time, and i will never ever be back. How this can be one of the best bars in Edinburgh is beyond me, the place was disgusting! I was met in the door by two rude security guards, then was hit by the overpowering smell of hundreds of sweaty drunks - not the most appealing thing in the world let me assure you. After ten minutes of trying to work my way through a huge scrum of shouting, jumping and in one case - fighting customers, I only just saw the bar and was met by the sight of two stressed barstaff, giving horrific service, some of the worst pints ive ever seen! So i left, and will never go back! People listen! There are much better places to go than this dive!

Why call a pub Dropkick Murphys if you do not play their music or know who they are?? Really a deception....

Ed AustinOK
But I miss the Berties days. Back in '93 Berties was alive and kicking, and when I went back to work in Edinburgh in 2000 it was still there. I had hoped it would have become an edinburgh landmark. Oh well :(

Micky CreanoAwesome bar
this is a great bar for when most bars close at 1am. Quite expensive but not so bad. 3 for 2 deals are good. Its never really that packed, and its a great place to hang out when you want to keep drinking till 3 and you dont want to bother going to espionage or stereo

disgusted punterWorst pub in edinburgh...AVOID IT
Most ignorant, undignified door and bar staff ever, thay have no respect for any of their customers, i have seen them manhandle so many people and roughly throw them outside, even saw one of their men hitting a girl. drink is far too expensive anyway, its filthy and everyone is so packed in its so uncomfortable. definitely a place to avoid.

T. MillerA great bar,... but,...
Great bar...!! One of the few pubs open to 3.. I really loved it... -But they lost a lot of customers because the staff was quite rude... Sad, but true... :-/ Or what do you say Olly and Arch...?...

Donal RyanMighty craic
I spent the best 6 months of my life in Edinburgh and most of that was spent in dropkicks. I was there the day we beat england. What a session. Heavy handed door staff even though they are irish. Still, mighty craic.

Only place wit Bud on tap and Tayto crisps! Ollie, manager from Tralee was sound - love ya babe! But Mickey, the boss - in Cork we would call him a LANGER!

Keith BrockA welcome change from Berties
It's actually clean now and the drinks taste how they should. They don't do cheap stuff anymore but it's a hundred times better. From an Irish point of view,it kicks Finnegan's ass!!

Katie O'SullivanBest night I had in Edinburgh
Great Irish boozer. All Irish staff-Olly from Kerry is mental! Very relaxed surroundings. Never seen so many Irish people in one place! If you are in Edinburgh you have to try it.

Christy PierceReal Irish atmosphere
Best Guinness outside of Ireland! Friendly staff from all over Ireland who can actually pour a pint properly! They even have Tayto crisps and red lemonade! Loads of Irish tunes were played, even when the band werent on.Move over Biddys and Finnegans!
