This large pub on the Grassmarket has three rooms one of which is up three steps. The bar caters mainly for beer drinkers and can get very busy at weekends. There is a pleasant beer garden at the rear of the pub with overhanging trees and bench tables. Upstairs is Rafters restaurant which has a very reasonably priced menu and wine list and is a particular favourite of ours. The restaurant supplies the bar food downstairs so you can be assured of good food in either place. The pub is reputed to have numerous ghosts residing in the basement and is a popular stop off place on the Edinburgh Haunted Pub Tours.
