Gerry B, Holyport Excellent food - good service Well worth a visit. Thoroughly enoyed our meal. We didn't book and were welcomed very nicely. We were asked if we would like a drink at the bar before sitting or did we prefer to have our drinks taken to the table or see the wine list. The food was the best we've had in a long time. We will take my wife's mum there for Mothers Day next week as well. The proprieters are father and son, Peter and David Hancock. The son is an excellent chef. We can't wait to go back. We suggest you book a table but you can just walk in. Sunday, November 13, 2005 Rating: rosettes Martin Spence Beautiful food yet again A wonderful experience. Fridays a Saturdays have some wonderful special dishes in the table clothed restaurant. The new menu started last week (early Nov 05). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will return again and again. Highly recommended but check the location before going there as you wouldn't know it was there in a small road near Ascot race course. But well worth the visit. Extensive wine list oo. Much more than last time we went. Even pink champagne on offer. Highly recommended. Sunday, November 13, 2005 Rating: rosettes Stuart Kinner Rose & Crown Ascot, excellent dining and ambience The Rose & Crown at Woodside, Winkfield/Ascot, boasts a wonderful location and country pub ambience whilst offering an award winning al-a-carte menu as well as a varied bar menu. We are regular customers and have always enjoyed the meals we have had. I feel loyal to the pub restaurant and think they deserve a mention on the Best Pubs website. The pub is loacted just 1/2 mile from Ascot race course.
