Fantastic FoodDavid & Christine Baker
We called in to the Powis Arms last Saturday night having stumbled across it by chance, not being on the road we thought we were. We had the best meal of our holiday there, fantastic food and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Hope we can find it again next time we are down from Yorkshire.

Good FoodAlison
The food is very good and the landlady certainly works her socks off to produce it, while the landlord likes to entertain guests with little anecdotes of his youth in Glasgow, help the poor girl out for gods sake! Rooms were clean if a little on the chilly side, some hot water would be good. Sneaked a peak at the shower block and it was really good, perhaps a caravan stay would make the best of both worlds. We would go again as countryside is amazing, and the food makes up for any shortfalls.

RE: Pete Hodgkiss CommentVicki Jackson
The caravan park is actually not the responsibility of the Powis Arms its just they take the money sometimes on behalf of Walcot Hall - If you had a problem you should consult them. The pub does not open on most days until 5pm so they have other things to do like prepare food, clean the shower blocks, prepare/clean rooms, cellar stuff, shopping to restock and have 'their own time'. There are certain places allocated for people that is why you would be asked to move. Oh and I know this as I am the landlords daugther. So get your facts straight before leaving negative comments...its sounds like you are a miserable person so it would be your own fault not the pubs if your holiday was ruined!

Nelson Inn

One night at the NelsonRich
Ambling around South Shropshire I stumlbed across a small yet vibrant market town. I asked a group of bewildered locals Were best to quench my thurst With a smile and a nod I set off to an Inn at the North side of town past the Rose and Crown They said To Rocks Green where the Nelson can be found I stayed till Monday - with luck I struck apon this pub mid celebration, tradional ale to toast. A colourful festival of ale, friendship, music and Moharolls.....

Sunday lunchtime 23/7/06. I had the roast beef, my partner had the steak. My roast beef, broccoli & carrots were lovely, cooked to perfection. The potatoes were overcooked, roasted for so long that they were beyond crispy.. just rock hard. What were new potatoes had turned into roasters too. Great yorkshire pudding but the instant gravy made me chuckle. £7-50... Not overly impressed. My partner had the Prime Shropshire Sirloin at £13-95. Shallow fried! Served with bagged salad and a good huge manly portion of chips. Asked for a well done steak, it was pink in the middle. No onion rings, no mushrooms, no peas,..just the meat, a grabful of salad and the chips. He ate the chips & salad, but left half the steak. First time I've seen him do that in 12 years. They could do with a fly net over the veranda door...diners were besieged by flies. Bar staff were fabulous. Efficient & very willing and friendly. Windows could of done with a clean. 1 pint of Guinness & a glass of dry white was the best bit of our lunch out. Deena

Great country pubDon
Used to come here and stopped about 2 years ago (beer was poor, food overpriced and owners grumpy). All change now. Beer now excellent, food now proper pub food not that pretentious stuff, staff helpful and smile, prices finally reasonable. Snug bar now a perfect country pub room. Welcome new landlords. I'll be back (I have been back several times)

Came with a large group having been turned away at another local pub and even though they were full (and it was after the published end of food), they accommodated us. We ate some wonderful food (we'd read about the fish) but the homemade pork pie was something else...yum ! The guys all settled into the beers which they tell me were excellent. After closing, we sat outside and the staff kept checking on us so that we could buy some more drinks. Excellent !

Willeymoor Lock Tavern
Whitchurch
Flat lager and some very rude staffPaul
What a shame the excellent location and alleged wonderful food is spoilt by some of the rudist staff I have ever encountered in a public house. If you are not a real ale fan and simply enjoy a pint of lager you will be disappointed here, on my visit they served some very flat, tasteless beer. A word of warning though, don't dare to complain or you may incur the wrath of a very arrogant barmaid who refuses to accept your complaint, and a Manager who can't be bothered to come out of the kitchen to speak to you. The food sounds great, a pity we didn't get chance to sample it, after having the audacity to complain about a sub standard pint it was made clear to us that we were no longer welcome in the Pub. Charming.

The new owner really has the beer nailed down (I know the pub and he inherited some real problems with the keeping of the ales - we used to joke about its laxative properties). The beer is 1st class and I recommend you try the fresh cod in a Shropshire Lad batter: a refreshing change from brakes frozen microwavefish things.

I found 4 beers on from the brewery next door all crystal clear (had to sample all 4!!!) and perfectly kept. The food was great -some of us had sunday roast with homemade yorkies and roasts (not aunt bessies) and the gravy...well....Even though they were vey busy, the staff were friendly, attentive and we didn't have to wait long. Had a long chat with the owner who arranged a brewery tour next door for us. Brilliat

A very livley pub with a good mix of young and old. The pub has a pool table and new jukebox to suite the rocker, reggae or dance fan. Bands play most weeks and once a month a host of local dj`s take over. There is some fantastic art work on the walls by the pool table which you dont expect to see. At the bar there is a good selection of largers, strongbow and two real ale`s.

Weekend treatPeter Burke
We trave 60 miles each way most weekends and one of the reasons is the fabulous food, real ale and extremely friendly staff at The Green Inn. Try the beef with peppercorns in whisky sauce, stuffed chicken breast, venison & red wine pie, local game pie with pheasant, wild boar and venison or fish pie. There is a 'standard' pub menu for the less adventurous. As a diabetic I can only look at the special desserts menu and imagine. Try The Green Inn for yourself.

Shameful Lunch!Bonnie
We were first in the pub at lunch time today, looking forward to a lovely dinner, but no such luck! Peas were like bullets, and the Steak wasn't cooked well, and chips still felt frozen solid. It was taken back three times to give more heat, and each time came back just as cold......Shameful if you ask me! I know many people love your pub, but I am sorry to say you have lost two families of customers now, we won't be coming ever again, it has happened before, and we don't want it to happen again! So, this is also a Goodbye note from us.....Bye all in the Highway man.

Having spent a long time away from Bridgnorth, it's been wonderful to arrive back and to see The Crown flourishing. The new interior is amazing and the atmosphere of a night time is mind blowing. Bland.....Perry Williamson
The interior is bland and unimaginitive for its situation and exterior appearance. The range of beers is poor - nothing too outrageous or daring. The food selection is limited and is significantly overpriced. The staff are friendly and courteous and efficient. I think the whole business is resting on a previous reputation and is propped up by regular locals of whom there are enough to keep it just about a financially viable proposition.
