About the Pub
A very small one room basement bar on the corner of Dublin Street and York Place/Queen Street which is cosy with quality space. The room is decorated with ornamental iron work especially around the bar. The place is popular with the after work set and people wanting a drink before heading across the street to the Stand Comedy Club. There is a small selection of wines available and the open mic nights are very popular.

Food is served from a very reasonable menu with the most expensive dish being an 8oz Sirloin with potatoes and salad/veg 7.95(April2001).HistoryThe bar is named after James Burnet, Lord Monbodo whose life and writings were one of the most curious links in the literary and philosophical history of Scotland during the last century. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Monbodo was his wisdom and his revision of future theories as to the origin of man. He was born at Monbodo, near Fordoun, in October 1714.
