About the Pub
Set in the centre of Stockbridge this public house cum hotel has a large beer garden to the front which overlooks the main street through the town. The main bar room has a selection of old pictures of the town on the walls including one in copper. Through to the back there is a conservatory with a large stone fireplace used by diners with children and hired out as a function room. There is a small room at the front of the pub with a pool table. Behind the bar there are a couple of cask ales, a large selection of malt whiskies and a decent wine list. Blackboards around the bar display whisky and beers of the day. With televisions in all bars this place has a 'snug' atmosphere with a friendly bar staff and definitely a local clientele.

How to find us
Stockbridge is just to the north of the New Town in Edinburgh. Raeburn Place is the main street through the centre of Stockbridge. From the centre of Edinburgh take Frederick Street to Howe Street down the hill to Saint Steven Street and then over the Stockbridge (which spans the Waterway of Leith) to Raeburn Place.

Clean and basic
This hotel was basic, the pub scruffy and if you dont mind music till 1am it was fine. But we were charged 60 for a double room without toilet which in my opinion was way too much. 40 would have been more like it. But then its not just here that charge steep prices, the whole of Scottish/ British tourism need a good shake up. I'm currently looking at 2 star hotels in South of France for 50 toilet ensuite. Braeburn is a no star hotel. Oh and I am still waiting for the hotel to send on to me an item I left behind

2 Nights in Amityville
This hotel is worth staying at if you can take a joke. I loved every minute of the Faulty Towers charm. The rooms were clean and the food reasonable. The best bit of the trip was Rochene who worked in Hectors bar down the road. What more can I say!

I've used TravelStay.com loads of times to book budget hotels in Edinburgh and London and never had a problem!

Simple
Basic and decent enough for the money. Similar price as a hostel but more private, we got the cheap rate on www.travelstay.com

I am only giving it a 2 because I am still trying to get a refund as I was charged twice for my room. I would advise anyone else not to pay in cash as you will also be charged to your card and it's a real headache to get money back from people...

Quite a walk to Princes Street, more like 20 mins uphill, but the buses there are frequent and cheap.
