Family Friendly?!
Like many others, I am astonished and outraged by Ms Slater's comments to the local press regarding breastfeeding. Personally I discreetly feed my baby as and when needed, and have never had anything but positive feedback from the few people that have actually spotted me doing so. Far from staying away, I shall take great delight in visiting the pub - I'm always one to take up a challenge ...!!!

Kids welcome - babies excluded it seems
I'm disgusted at the attitude of landlady Vicky Slater towards breastfeeding mothers and having breastfed my son for exclusively for the first six months of his life and beyond as recommended by the government's Department of Health I will be steering clear of her establishment and telling my friends to do the same.
It's narrow-minded opinions and prejudice like Miss Slater's that ensure the UK's breastfeeding rates remain the lowest in Europe and impact on the long-term health of millions.

Breastfeeding mum
Family friendly - but only if you don't breastfeed
I can't believe the landlady of this establishment - advertising as a family-friendly place but banishing breastfeeding mums. What does she think they do - blatantly expose both breasts and stick a tassel on the breast that the baby isn't feeding from??? All breastfeeding mums do it discreetly, for their sake and for those around them. Would the landlady rather have a screaming hungry baby??

'Kids Welcome' - What Rot!
'MOTHERS should be banned from breastfeeding their hungry babies in public, an Eccleshall landlady claims. The George Hotel manager Vicki Slater says she finds the act ‘offensive’ and asks any mother who breastfeeds in the bar or restaurant to stop' Staffordshire Newsletter 24 Nov 2005

We will be sure to give this establishment a wide berth and also to warn any other parents away. Here's a lesson on how to lose business in one easy step - make offensive and ignorant comments to the press about breastfeeding mothers.

A mother
Avoid if you have a family
Fancy advertising your prejudice and ignorance in the local press. If any landlady can be that ignorant about what is and what isn't offensive, I'd hate to see what she did to the beer.

Breast feeding mum
Won't be back
We've stayed at the George several times over the years, but after the ignorant comments about breast feeding we will not returning. I refuse to give my money the Slaters.

backwards attitudes
The Landlady (yes a woman!) has spoken out in the local paper dissallowing women to breastfeed in her establishment as it's offensive and disgusting. Won't honour her opinion with an argument just thought anyone going should know the facts. Enjoy!

disgusting attitude towards families
This pub should not be able to advertise as 'family friendly' when mothers who are doing the best thing for their children are discriminated against. This landlady, clearly ignorant of the true purpose of womens breasts and the benefits derived from breastfeeding, claims that breastfeeding is offensive to her but by going to the press with her views, she has offended far more people than she could have realised. I will certainly not be visiting this establishment and I would urge any family or person that supports the breastfeeding mother to do the same.

Won't be coming here.
Im not a mother myself but I find your attitude towards breastfeeding mothers offensive.I hope word will spread about this and your place will be known for something other than a 'kids welcome' establishment.

This pub does not deserve to be advertised as a 'family' establishment. The landlady has stated that breastfeeding mothers such as myself are not welcome to sit in the bar area. My view is that we should clearly spend our money elsewhere.

Shame about the landlady
Steer clear of this pub - kids are not welcome at all, not ones that are breastfed as per government and WHO guidelines anyway - the landlady finds this 'offensive'. I find her offensive actually...

Callous Advertising
The owner of this place has obviously had a 'brainwave' for getting free advertising for what is an overated establishment. She has been cynically making antibreastfeeding comments to the press in return for free advertising.

Children welcome? I think they need to update that statement. Totally incorrect.

Ignorant!
'Kids welcome'. Clearly not if they're breastfed. The landlady find this natural, healthy act offensive. Perhaps she sould amned her advertising; Bottles Only.

no feeding mums allowed???
I will not be coming back here as I've heard that the landlady is so narrow minded that she won't allow breast feeding mums to feed hungry babies in the restaurant or bar area!

As I'm due to have a baby soon and hope to breast feed for as long as i can (as is recommended by doctors, government etc etc etc) I would be horrified to have to go into a room on my own to feed my child!

Shocked - and definitely off the favourite list!

A family pub with no family values!
How can a pub that describes itself as being 'family friendly' discriminate against women who breastfeed? I won't be using restaurants that discriminate agianst women and family values.

Family pub?Only if your babies don't need feeding!
Shocked and disgusted that this establishment is so proud to be anti-breastfeeding. No idea how it can say that families are welcome. None of our family will set foot in the place again.

Shocking Discrimination against Breastfeeding
How this establishement can call itself a family pub is beyond me when Breastfeeding Mothers are not welcome.
Utterly disgusting attitude, this pub deserves to be boycotted.

Friendly pub, great atmosphere, great beer
The George has been my local for a number of years now (I'm 22) and it has never failed to provide a great place to eat and drink. All age ranges are seen in there (apart from under 18s) and families and kids are welcome. The home-brewed beer is award-winning, and the manager has a habit of only hiring young blonde barmaids. Does it get any better? There is also seating at the front and rear.
