Pat Toomer Running Pump - Catforth STopped for a late lunch on a Sunday. Pub is very dog friendly, and our three animals were given treats by the bar staff. Food was excellent and hospitality very good too Monday, November 23, 2015
SMiller One of the loveliest pubs in preston The running pump is a very old countryside pub in such a lovely are with so many friendly locals. The rooms are very cosy and inviting with roaring coal fires. Food is excellent and not pricey at all. There are also plenty of fields around. A perfect idea to walk the dogs then take them into a dog friendly pub. Get down you wont be disappointed!
Polly Parkes Brilliant food and dog friendly Went for lunch today with our Miniature Schnauzer Edith. A warm welcome by the Landlord and even warmer welcome in front of the log fire in the snug. Priorities given and the dog was given a treat first and then we were given our drinks and the menu. An extensive menu with something for everyone. I had garlic breadcrumbed chicken with chips and salad which was lovely. Moist and flavoursome chicken and lovely chips. My Mum and her partner both had the scampi, fries and peas and declared the best they'd had in years. My hubby had a huge gammon steak, again moist and tasty and not at all salty which can be a problem in some places. One starter was had which was the garlic mushrooms, plentyful for a starter and tasty. This pub and landlord deserves to do well if this is the quality he is giving and we will definitely be going again even though we live in Cheshire. Well worth the journey. Their details and menu can be found on their website but i can't put the link here, just google it! Many thanks.
The pub is a real hidden gem with excellent home cooked food and friendly staff. If you want plastic food in a chain oub don't come here. They really deserve to be successful, we now visit at least weekly and have pleasure recomending friends. The pub's a bit off the beated track, but far better than many of the more well know establishments in Bartle and Lea.
Have lived in Preston for most of my life and to be honest had never been in to this pub. Met a colleague here for lunch and was very impressed with friendly atmosphere and excellent food. The food is also very reasonably priced and the cask ales are kept well. I love good and friendly service and this definitely has that- give it a try and you won't be disappointed. went in sunday evening love it , roast beef very good & only 10 pound for to sunday roast VERY HAPPY Saturday, September 8, 2012
Glad you liked the meat. just like to clear up the Yorkshire pudding question. As with pasties onlt being able to be called Cornish if they are made in Cornwall we have been informed we are no longer allowed to call Yorkshire puddins unless they are made in Yorkshire. The same as you can no longer call a Lancashire hot pot unless it is made in Lancashire. Wednesday, August 22, 2012

David and Gill Fantastic Pub We have known of the Running Pump for some time and decided to go there one evening. What a delight it was, with an exceptional menu, friendly and helpful staff, excellent meals, beers and wines. We have been regular visitors since and love sitting in the snug chatting to the locals. Rob and Vanessa are great hosts.

Cracking pub, lovely pint of Old Stockport, lovely staff and lunch in front of a log fire. It doesn't get much better than this. Wednesday, March 24, 2010
Rob & Vanessa New Management We took over in May 2009. Offering locally sourced fresh food and Robinsons Ales. We have a small Restaurant and we are dog friendly.
What a refreshing change to find a decent pint and decent food!
The daily specials board is always interesting and the food is beautifully presented.
Can tend to be a little cold (don't seem to like lighting the fire).
Good value - good food! Thursday, February 15, 2007
Pauline What a shame smokers are more important We went to eat (where in the past the food has been delicious) but sadly were not allowed to order 'bar food' in the restaurant (stark - with only two people in) which was the only place we could escape the smokers. The rating reflects not being able to eat Wednesday, February 14, 2007 Rating: No rosettes
With a roaring fire and a decent pint, this is a comfortable place to spend an afternoon. Saturday, February 25, 2006
