worth the travel from field
@Stuart
as a family we eat here most sundays and the food is allways good my guess is you ordered the house special which is mutton not beef.
you are either a mutton man or beef.
you should have had the home made rice pudding
my wife allways has two portions

Eat at your peril
Before I start - we left before the main course could be served.
The menu looked very nice, with excellent descriptions of the food on offer.
For instance the soup said home made by our own chef using only the finest ingredients. Served with a fresh warm half bagette.
What did we get - powdered chicken soup (tepid) with the lumps of powder still in it and a cold stale peice of bread.
We had ordered roast beef for the main - this was also described in glowing terms - we saw the next table get what we were going to have. The woman asked the waitress if it was beef - she had to ask if the grey boil in the bag stuff was actually beef. At this point we upped sticks leaving the soup and bread barely touched and as they say 'did one'

Spacious no-nonsense local
My guess is that the Shoulder is a 1920/30's pub built at an awkward junction twixt' Halifax and Bradford.
Good value fayre and popular with all age groups.
A pleasant garden with a surprisingly rural aspect towards the local Cricket Ground
