Worlds End, Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

Called in yesterday while visiting Knaresborough.....attracted by the board outside advertising real ales. Went to the bar & asked what real ales were available & was told only the end of the world ale.....but it was off !!

Staff were supposed to be changing the barrel, but were overheard to say it was still 1/3 full & they couldn't afford to waste that.

In the end they spent some considerable time clearing out the lines to the pump. Ended up having a bottled cider & a soft drink.

Also has to be said that the loos are terrible.....womens apparently cramped in the stable style pine cubicles....mens were cramped & shabby with no hand drier & no paper to dry your hands on.

Lovely location so such a great shame.....we won't be back

Visited the worlds end today whilst on a day out with the family in Knaresborough. I have to say that it's appropriately named as the world is likely yo end before your food order arrives.
I didn't exactly order a feast - two baguettes, two kids meals and a bowl of chips. The result was a wait of over an hour. When one of the kids meals arrived the rest of the order didn't follow for a further 15 minutes and then I had to request the chips. No apologies for either missing items or length of waiting time were offered.
Whilst we were there, three groups of people cancelled orders due to excessive waiting time. As we left, another family was just beginning combat with the staff as to where their meals were as they'd been there longer than us.
At a time when pubs are closing left, right and centre, you would think they would be trying harder to retain business. I'll visit Knaresborough again but I won't visit The Worlds End again I'm afraid. Disgraceful!!!

I'm sorry to say that our visit to The Worlds End was our first and last yesterday 5/6/2012.
We ordered the mighty cheeseburger to find out that was not on the days menu there was although a chilli type cheesburger which was slightly more expensive which we accepted 2 of, I also ordered an all day breakfast, and a ploughmans which I specifically asked what this included, the meals arrived, one sausage on the breakfast was not cooked properly, the burgers buns were stale and overwhelmed the burgers, my ploughmans came without ham, which I had to ask for, it came on a side plate and was the packet ham, then to top it off I found the corner of a plastic wrapper proberly from the grated cheese in my meal, I took it back and because we had complained about our meals the lady chef in the kitchen just snapped oh give them there money back, which I was only refunded for the ploughmans, not the response I would have expected, I'm sorry if my complaining caused problems but I do expect to be able to eat the food I order. There was no apology for the piece of plastic nor the rubbish food, totally unacceptable.

We weren't drinking alcohol when we last visited in March. The lady who served us was very obliging, offered tea and coffee instead ... the tea was excellent and the lady was very friendly.

Called in on spec one evening after hearing some great sounds. Had a great night listening to a blues band called Doctor Blue. great pub, friendly staff and good music. Will definitely call back next time we`re in Knaresborough.

Dear Graham Barron. I am very sorry for your treatment last july we at that time had just taken over not very clued up . I have taken over the kitchen myself now as I feel this is best for my customers. waited over 1 hour for food...when it arrived it was barely edible. Complained to server but nobody even came to aplogise or ask details. Left without eating with 2 very unhappy children.
Complete waste of money and time...I will tell my friends.
