This was our first visit to the astablishment. We arrived just after 7pm, unbeknown that the pub stopped serving food at 6pm on a Sunday.we odrered our drinks & the young lady behind the bar said that she would see if the kitchen was still open. The landlord came & seeted us at the side of the open fire, we were served a first class meal. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were very friendly & accommadating.

Great Food and Drink
This is one of the best pubs around for dining and for the real ale.The Bass is kept is superb condition. The landord always goes out of his way to find us a table and the service has always been good even on the busiest days. Great wholesome home cooked food is what you get and not some duff microwave garbage served up in all the regular establishments. I would reccomend to anyone and also very reasonably priced.

A Jewel in the Foodie Crown.
I have eaten at the Stanley Arms many times over the years and have always found the quality, and standards of the food, unsurpassed.
The staff are always happy to help, nothing is too much trouble, and the service is excellent. The menu is amazing and offers good, well presented, English-Fare from across the U.K. All the food is freshly cooked to order, and sourced, where possible, from local outlets. This place is truly an oasis in the desert of ding-foodoutlets, and provides excellent food, a fantastic range of meals to suit every palate, and massive portions that would defeat Desperate Dan. I cant work out how anybody could fault this place, after all, it's always busy and you are lucky to get a table on a Sunday. Maybe the last critic caught it on a bad day?
Oh yes, just for the record, I dont work there. I'm only a customer !!

Overcooked Food / Appaling Service
The management were rude, unhelpful and I can not write a bad enough review of this establishment. To celebrate a family event, fathers 86th birthday, we booked for a large (9) famly group. The table was crowded and meant for 6, but they squeezed 9 in. After ordering from the menu - we had to visit the bar to get drinks ourselves, comment from the staff we are too busy to serve you. The food arrived in dribs and drabs, first some starters then some main courses for people who hadnt yet had starters !. When I tried to attract someones attention, the reaction was always the same, I will look into it When I found someone who seemed to be in charge and asked if we could all have our meals at the same time, I was told very rudely cut the sarcasm. If I had been alone and not with elderly family I would have made a very large scene from this response. When after much annoyance, extremely overcooked food and generally some of the worst service I have ever had, we asked ot pay the bill we were told only cash or cheque can be accepted. It was not possible to pay with a Card. To assist they restaurant has a service charging ATM in the lobby, which is just another example of how appaling the concept of customer service is. Even my elderly father, who is generally tolerant of service, the next day remarked that he wouldnt go back again. A throughly appaling place, how they can ever hope grow business and attract clientele is beyond me. If anyone from the Stanley Arms would like to comment please do !

Superb food & service
The stanley arms is traditional but is far from dated, the menu is very varied all homemade ~ there is always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere - the young staff are just fabulous, all are pleasant with great manners! - We eat out at many places this is the best by far..
