Great experience
Why can't all pubs in Britian have the same standard of beer and food as the Hangin Gate. We called in last Sunday - had bar meals and they were woth every penny. The bacon sandwich and chips was superb and my hot chicken and bacon salad was the best i'd ever tasted. The landlady is very welcoming and dogs are aloowed in the small snug (with real fire) very cosy and the locals are happy to chat to you and recomend different food - apparently the burgers are the best in the west - so we'll be back very soon.

Eight hungry walkers visited on the evening of 22 June. Disappointing - limited and overpriced menu. Discarded starters on cost alone. Majority had roasts of the day at 14, (and suspect not freshly cooked) Pie at 15; both with very mean portion of vegetables. Extra veg would cost!! Puds excellent. Climax of visit was one of the party being accused by the hostess of lying. Could not recommend.

A Bit Pricey
At 17.95 for a main course your expectations are high, so when you are refused extra bread, or told it will be 1.50 extra, then your drink arrives a tad short-measured, its a annoying. Food was good but not outstanding, location and views superb.

Excellent pub and restaurant. Small cosy bar and friendly staff. Good Hyde Ale, wide selection on menu and fantastic desserts. Sticky toffee probably the best we've (ordered by two of us) tasted. Prices realistic and good value.

friendly and fun
last week-end i went with friends, a party of seven in total. Wewere greeted and allowed to sit at the bar area to enjoy a pre-dinner drink, relax and look through a menu full of interesting dishes alongside a special board. We ordered and were called to our table when the food was ready. It was a friday evening and place was full with friendly atmosphere. Our food was delicious, well presented and service was well pased, friendly and professional. We all enjoyed the evening and i wouldrecommend that you try this gem of a restaurant out for yourselves.

Good Food, Poor service.
Whilst I can recommend the food wholeheartedly - for instance excellent lamb, and traditional dishes such as hotpot - the service leaves much to be desired. On our visit, we felt that the service was lacking in warmth. A couple of incidents during the meal, such as the non-arrival of ordered coffees, and lack of attentiveness, not to mention one of us being obstructed from sitting down for a whole minute by a member of staff leanng over another table - spoilt the overall experience.
I would recommend other dining pubs over this one, despite its stunningly beautiful location.
