Visited here last nite. 7-3-15.food was excellent, staff very friendly, beer+wine good. But the food was slow coming, but we will visit again and hope the service is a little faster.
Leanne Coleman Excellent pub Excellent food and attentive staff 10 out of 10
Mary Fantastic food and service Myself and the family visited The Hollybush last week and it was fantastic. The food came out very quickly, the plates were piping hot (my partner always checks this first) My rib of beef was amazing the meat just fell off the bone.We will most definetly return. The staff were very attentive and had lots of personality- which is nice. Sometimes waitresses are like robots and only say to you the stuff that a large pub chain has drilled into them. But our waitress was exceptional and very funny. The wine was lovely and went down well. Overall it was a fantastic evening one of which we all enjoyed, so much so we have booked for boxing day- menu looks great. Thank you Hollybush see you all soon Sunday, October 28, 2012 Rating: No rosettes
Samantha Keen Waitress Problem !!!!!!!!!!! the food and the beer were very good value and enjoyable but i have to disagree about Lauren she was more irratating than funny and also flirting wih my husband who is old enough to be her dad. which made him feel very uncomfortable. Just 2 words thank you for u coments see you again soon
Gregory Ward what an improvement I visited the Hollybush this time last year with a group of friends to celebrate a new baby. The service was awful. Had to wait over an hour for main meals and when they came the plates were filthy and the food dry. I vowed never to return!! On friday a friend suggested a revisit on account of a voucher he received in the paper. So I thought we would give them a second chance. Very glad we did. Our waitress lauren was a delight. She was attentive and funny but not intruding. Our starters were out well before expected closely followed by our mains. The quality was exceptional. The staff really seemed to be enjoying what they were doing and nothing was too much trouble. I am quite fussy and wanted to swap a few things around on all my courses. But this was no issue and lauren made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. I wasn't expecting much after my first visit but this really showed me that a place can change well done to whoever it is that turned this pub around because our evening was enjoyable and we will definitely be returning on account of excellent service and food.
j.cartwright66@hotmail.co.uk janice cartwright Fantastic easter sunday with the family at The Hollybush, rib of beef was superb. Staff great. Cannot fault.

I'm with tracey below on this one. The service is fab. I have travelled the world and attended pubs and restaurants aplenty but this charming and unique little place is phenomenal in both service and food quality I cannot fault..I felt special! My evening out with my partner was one too remember
I am somewhat surprised reading the recent poor commentarys. Myself and my party of 5 celebrated my parents wedding anniversary last week and it was faboulous..the staff were so friendly and the food was excellent!! I have never been to the hollybush before but I will be returning it was so warm and friendly the duty manager was attentive and funny, and all the staff bounced off one another. We felt special cared for and valued. It was a night to remember thank you very much
We went there every weekend this time last year and the staff and management were great so friendly and nothing was to much to ask of them. Been there 3 times since October and it's gone down hill. It's such a shame because its a beautiful pub the food and service just isn't the same . I hope they can turn it round as I will be taking my custom to the nags head this summer :( Thursday, March 29, 2012 Rating: No rosettes
Tony Get new Managment and staff !! Management and staff were so rude to us . Will never ever go back and have taken my complaint further to the head office as something needs to be done !

I think looking at all the comments your all right the Hollybush is a disgrace ! I went with my family on Friday evening the service was not good and to be honest the amount for the food I would of preferred to of gone to a carvery place. Around 9.15pm we was sat waiting for our dessert orders to be taken but all the staff seemed to be too busy talking in the bar area with the locals and now not concentrating on there guests in the Restaurant . In the end we didn't bother with desserts that would of been another £20 lost for them , with my elderly nan trying to get through all the rude arrogant locals hanging around the bar and the front door it took a while to get out of the dam place as none of them would move !!!! Would never ever go back to such a place since there refurbishment its lost the charm that it had . Such a shame how locals can destroy a great pub to eat in !

The whole place needs to be closed down , this place shouldn't be allowed to serve food it's terrible !! You pay £12 for a meal and it comes out cold !! Service in this place is a shambles 20 mins waiting for drinks ! Get new management the 2 girl managers don't seem to have a clue or a care in the world !! Friday, March 9, 2012 Rating: No rosettes
After a previous bad experience that follwed in a complaint we were given a voucher to return promising high standards and greast customer service. Things have not improved we were booked for 7pm for 10 people for my dads birthday. The table was awful we could not sit arround as table legs obstructed our seats. Our meal did not arrive till 915 pm by which time one of the younger members of the party had fallen asleep. Items of food were forgotten, one of the meals were stone cold, and generally the meals were very poor. It look lovely and is in a lovely village but it is terrible. Fosters man One of the ones at the bar S stackhouse makes me wonder if you may be friends of the previous management and they told you to say that because they had no time for the locals anyway just sitting there bitching about them on the far table lol Sunday, November 13, 2011 Rating: No rosettes
Stacey Been twice this year! Both visits were awful Myself & partner dined at the Holly Bush twice this year. Once for our birthdays in march, despite the lovely appearance of the menu the food was bland, cold & very late arriving! We thought we'd give it another go just yesterday for Sunday lunch. Waited 20 mins for drinks, then 45 mins for a microwaved very disappointing Sunday dinner! Awful awful awful Monday, October 3, 2011 Rating: rosettes
Just a short comment to s,stackhouse, good meal just a shame that you had to push your way through obnoxious drinkers at the bar,it seems to me that you are the obnoxious one you stuck up arse. Friday, September 16, 2011 Rating: No rosettes

S.Stackhouse What a Shame! Great service friendly team but I hate when I have to push through obnoxious drinkers at the bar when leaving.
Food and service were great though.

Having booked a table that morning we arrived at the Hollybush to find that no table had been reserved for us and the restaurant was full. We were given the 'option' of waiting around until someone had finished with their table. We were offered a discount on our next visit which we will never take up! Get the management right- you are losing customers!! Friday, July 1, 2011 Rating: No rosettes
the pub managers have been on holls but what a great job all the staff have done pleasent service and always wilth a smile keep up the good work ps bar maids with front lol
Roger A Superb Dining Experience On Royal Wedding Day, it was probably not surprising that The Holly Bush was not over-busy in the early evening. The ambiance, food and service were all exceptional. It is a most attractive building set in a beautiful rural hamlet.. The welcome was warm and friendly. As part of The Chef & Brewer chain, they not only offer a good and varied menu, but specials are also on offer which appealed to both uf us. My fiance chose the Scottish Highland Spring Lamb, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. I opted for the Irish Mussels in a leek and apple sauce. The Head Chef was happy to add onions, garlic, chopped parsley & cream which raised the dish by a considerable degree. Throughout, the staff were attentive and I let them all know how happy we both were. A well chilled Sparkling Pinot Grigio came in an ice bucket and was perfect for the occasion. Pub food experiences can vary from week to week, but our visit was sheer perfection. Try it.
Philipa Stephens Mothers day Fantastic mothers day lunch, My children surprised me by taking me to the Holly Bush where I first met their father. ( god rest his soul) It was perfect in every aspect except for Malcom not being here! The service was original and friendly and the food was perfect. Well done to the Holly Bush.
And thank you.
Liz Thompson Mothers Day Meal I went here today with my mom, dad husband and little boy. To say the very least I was really disappointed. The pub was supposed to have had a make over!! The staff made a mistake with my booking I arrived at 6 but they hadnt booked a table for me until 7, then I was shown to a table for 6 people with no high chair which was booked over the phone. No serviettes on the tables, the toilets were blocked, carrots were hard, as soon as I had finished my pudding the plate was whipped from underneath me, Its a shame really because I have been for a meal at this pub on numerous occasions and always had a lovely time. Definitely wont be returning. I really didnt even get a sincere apology either from the supervisor. I definitely wont be recommending my friends to go here either. Thanks for spoiling my mothers day The Holly Bush!! x Sunday, April 3, 2011 Rating: No rosettes
Marjorie Dyers My Perfect Meal What an evening to be had at this pub, it was fantastic, service, food, and even the chef smiled when he served me on the Bar,Staff must be trained well for the Chef to help serve on the Bar in a very Busy period,Fair Play. Food was Tasty,Service with a smile, such a breath of fresh air to goto a real busy pub and have such a great experience.
Well done to the Staff and Managemnt at the Holly Bush.
I only go to this pub as a few of my friends work there. But even if they stop, im sure we will carry on going there as the location is perfect and the atmosphere is friendly. the food is also superb and a bargain at £10 for a teriaki surf n turf ;)
Mike Hughes Lovely food, no organisation Having read the other comments it looks like there is a problem with staff numbers and deployment here. We booked for our wedding anniversary night out, a relaxing evening, just the two of us for a change but we had to wait AGES for our food and went home anything but relaxed. On the positive side the food was lovely and the staff were friendly. It all makes no diiference though when you are hungry and watch other tables who arrived later get their meals first. Felicity Myatt Quaint and lovely It Was a lovely Meal and the service was good, perhaps a little quicker for my desserts but over all a fantasic Day out. Thank you to all the staff and management.

Hugh Johnson Little Hays Best Kept Secret I too dined saturday evening and was astounded by how busy it was, i ordered a steak that was cooked beatifully my wife had the open fish pie that was a delight,
Excellent service even though there was a wait but it was all dealt with courteous professionalism,
Tut Tut Tut to such segregating remarks.
Well Done The Holly Bush
MARK A MASTERS going to miss alex ALEX IS GOING TO THE FOUR OAKS I WILL WISH HER ALL THE LUCK BUT SHE WILL NOT NEED IT A TRUE PRO AT WHAT SHE DOES SO FOUR OAKS WILL BE WELL WORTH A VISIT FROM THURSDAY 20 MAY PS HAVE YOU GOT A VOUCHER LOL X
instead it was left to the waitress Zoe who took it upon herself to apologise for the bad service. i fully commend zoe for all the trouble she went to to make our evening as enjoyable as possible. we did not expect discount or free deserts as we went there to have fun and an enjoyable evening. there were many complaints that evening and it will be a very long time before we go back, if we ever do. Good luck zoe, you will go far in this world. the other waiters and waitresses also worked flat out under dreadful circumstances. good luck to them too. Saturday, May 15, 2010 Rating: rosettes
my family and i were really looking forward to an evening out at the holly bush little hay saturday 15th may. what a disappoinment it turned out to be. the duty manager laura looked like we were the last people she wanted to see. no hello no smile no welcome whatsoever. our reservation was already in question as we had added on a couple more people but this was not passed on to the reservations dept. we arrived well on time. drinks took at least 40 minutes. starter 1 hour 40 minutes. main course 1 hour later. at no time did a manager or duty manager come to offer any explanation as to why the service Saturday, May 15, 2010 Rating: rosettes
j Fantastic Meal and service will definitely return Fab, Fab, Fab, The staff were delightful the ambiance was terrific,The service second to none . Thank-you to the team at the Holly Bush, I will recommend to all my friends and family.
they must of been busy being a local my self i see how alex and all the staff put them selves out and allway go the extra mile for all the customers inc me so i find this hard to read your comments it would depend on what time of day or night you went i work in the customer sector my self and would take any of the staff on for just the can do atitude they have .people are allways made to feel welcome and alex is a credit to the pub and should of been given the chance to run it but we will see so jannet try it again x
We visted on Saturday 16th January - a party of nine. Service was very poor, food was either dissapointing or incorrect - when it eventually arrived - more than an hour between the starter and the main course? - when a complaint was made we were told that we had to realise they were very busy! Well pardon us for turning up at all..... we were given a discount from the bill but nevertheless not one of the party will be returning any time soon, if at all. The Holly Bush will end up like many other pubs, boarded up, but it wont be the recession to blame! - This description is incomplete, a shortened version of a terrible evening.
