Anyplace where everyone is drinking tea and dropping nobblies at 8am gets my vote.
Remember buying some B & H and they turned into a mini Swizzers bag (sweets i.e. drum sticks, black jacks, fruit salads etc) and when I touched them they would slowly disappear off my hand like the way Marty's family disappear off the photo in back to the future.
Anyway, suffice to say, this place was raving and I've never experienced a club like it.

Grade A-Dj
Whether a saturday or a sunday mornin skanker
u wud be cueing from 5.30 regardless, you would have been greeted by the freindliest of door staff danny chris and max,and usherd in for a big change of 3 to get a cup of tea and suffer an agonizing wait of 6 hours to get you first pint (what ever you did between that time was all part of the fun out of sight out of mind wink wink nudge nudge ) all worth it tho just to be able to catch another installment of the best resident ric james (my favourite dj)

come n join our facebook group the west end bar appreciation society to find out more

Hi, i was one of the resident dj's at the West end Bar & it was a bizarre place thats for certain. Cannot believe that the tunes we played there are still sought after today!! Was the start of quite a few Brum scenes still apparent today & really the city needs to move on a touch. Well am djing in ibiza at ataca in August 2008 so hope to see you there!! ...Ian c

ABSOLOUTELY BANGIN!!
This pub was the greatest place I've ever been to.
It played the best music in Birmingham and had the livelest crowd of regulars I've ever met. Sometimes I just used to forget about going up town all together! Grab an early night get up first thing and land there fresh on a Saturday morning. The bouncers were sound, the place was rocking from 7 till 1 on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I'll never forget the west end bar, or the day it got shut down. We ended up havin to go the cinema in town and we were all off our heads!! ha ha. Well, all I can do is hope that one day it will re-open but I doubt it considering what happened.
The music lives on though and the music that started there is now played by hundreds all over Birmingham and the UK. But it started there.... and at Genesis, but that's gone as well, may they both rest in peace.
