Best Sunday lunch in hereford
We go to the bush most Sundays, and often take friends with us too. Always a great selection to choose from, everything is home-made. Always a friendly welcome and the waitresses are wonderful. We've tried a lot of Sunday lunches but no where beats the bush, we would recommend it to everyone.

Fron owner in reponse to below comments
Firstly we have seen trade change dramatically during the 17 years I have owned The Bush Inn.
In the early years (1995-2004) we had a pool table & darts team, but those friendly locals were 18-25 yrs old - they are now i n 30-40s with mortgages and children. The majority have moved out of the village due to high house prices.
Once the smoking ban was introduced we found more and more people requiring good pub food- as a consequence we removed the unplayed dart board and pool table and redecorated.
The reduced supermarket prices for alcohol has played a big part in the demise of the British pub.
We open lunchtimes from 12 and evenings from 7pm (saturday 6.30pm) these have been our opening hours since 1995.
As for saying we are inconsistent, I have been the chef since day 1 preparing fresh, home-cooked value for money food and have many loyal regular customers.
Drinkers are very welcome here - not just those that are eating.
We will be celebrating 18 years of successful business in May.

Not an inn...
This used to simply be the best public house in a twenty mile radius. The beer was good, the locals were friendly, the food was decent and all essential bar games were present.
Why they had to change it to a restaurant I will never know. The food is mediocre, and unless you are eating, you get a very frosty reception from the uppity clientele that seem to now inhabit the place.
To add insult to injury, unless you go on a sunday, you are never sure if the place will be open or not. I have driven past quit a few times in the early evening and the lights have all been out.

Bottom line, changing format, this formerly brilliant pub has changed into a soulless, inconsistent generic country restaurant aspiring to greatness, but just can't be bothered with the journey.

lovely family run country pub
My husband and myself have been visitng the bush for many years, (around 12 if my memory serves me correctly). We often take friends for meals and are always made to feel very welcome.
There is always a lovely selection of home-cooked meals on the menu and my husbands special dietary requirements are always met. This is something we find hard to achieve in other restaurants. we always enjoy one of the home-made deserts, the sticky toffee pudding is a treat and must be tried.
we look forward to our next visit.

THE REAL TRUTH!!
correct to the below comment, lies!!
except for the very rare occassion no dogs and certainly never any cats are allowed in our public areas.
He forgot to mention in the slating of us that he had two big pitbull/staffy type dogs with them. This is why we politely asked them to relocate to an area which was away from our dining customers, also the weather was fine so they could of sat outside on our patio area where dogs are welcome. They were requested twice to move (from the dining area) and rudely refused which annoyed both the landlord and myself the landlady. for someone who had refused to move and who had consumed some of there drinks they were lucky to get a refund at all, we never asked you to leave we asked you to RELOCATE!!

The pub smells of cats pee!!!!
I entered the pub and noticed it smelt of cat urine! Sat at a table with a pint of cider and looked at the menu. But the smell put me off so decided not to eat. The table we sat at had no cutlery or condiments and looked like a bar table! When the barman found we were not eating he told us to go to the back room to drink our drinks! I told him no and he became very rude. I got a reluctant refund on our drinks and left. I WOULD ADVISE ALL TO AVIOD THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! Without doubt the rudest and most arrogant barman I've ever met. If you want a good friendly pub and restaurant in this area carry on down the road to The Nags Head. Extremely friendly staff and an enjoyable place to visit And a far better choice of beers and ciders.
