Andy
Those were the days!
I had a boat moored diagonally opposite near The Rowbarge Pub and lived aboard from 1975 until 1977. The Outrigger was the place to be especially in the summer. The turnover of bar staff (always barmaids) was phenomenal. Roy was an amazing character. He had a boat, 'Michaela' moored outside. Spent a small fortune there drinking with Chic Woods and other friends. The beer was 16p a pint back then! Sad to hear it has been demolished.

me and me mates used too drink there in the late seventes and into the late 80s .Theriewas me (Had shaved head and goggles and a big long coat, Colin Neve), Glen panie, Tony Shaw, Brendan and bonie powell, Fiona gun, Ellsa montgomerey. helen pace., to name a few. We used crash all night, some times upstairs. Roy used to practice his stunts on as. Scared the life of non locals who saw as fle across tables poor our own pints. A real bloody pub! frank and Brenda would serve behind the bar when it sutied them. Roy had those two alastians. The best place i have ever drunk in. I still miss all these years late, all the crew from turks boat yard.
The place was a mad house a real down to earth pub with every charcetr under the sun. and a no nonsense pub. What the hell happened to the real kingston?

If any when sees old Roy, not that he would remember we give all my best. It was a pleasure having my liver destroyed by him! a great bloke.
Ps does anyone have any picks of the outrigger?

Lord Tuft
Gonebut not forgotten
Now Demolished.
Run by the wonderful Captian Carruthers. Ex stuntman & pirate.
Now in exile in Hamble on the south coast. A true pub, staffed & frequented by chancers, dealers, publicans, police, priests, boatmen, drifters, private detectives, tarts with hearts & little money, art theives, bus drivers and the drummer from big country. Opening & closing hours were ad hoc. Eva did the sausage sandwiches.
