Pub grub at restaurant prices
Sadly disappointed with a roast dinner of over cooked and under seasoned vegetables, burned and cold yorkshire pudding, salty gravy and a meagre helping of chewy (as if hastily reheated) roast potatoes that took a while to arrive for reheated food. I expect better for the price. I tipped regardless as the waitress was not responsible for the cooks short comings

re debate between Amanda Turner and Mr Curruthers
It would seem Mr Curruthers is talking about a diffrent pub as he mentions the Peldon not the Plough...

Repeated Excellence
I have had the good fortune to eat in this wonderful country pub on a number of occasions. I have never been disappointed with the welcome, surroundings, food or staff. Whether it be Sunday lunch with a large gathering of friends and family, or a quiet bar meal at lunchtime. I have also eaten a Ploughman's here, and believe that it has improved somewhat as opposed to the comment made below by T Hagon - either that or T Hagon is speaking about a different pub! It wasn't a ham Ploughman's either - just the traditional cheese one, with food in abundance. Price wise, this pub and restaurant is very fairly priced, especially as it would appear that all the food is prepared and cooked from fresh, rather than off the back of a suppliers lorry. I cannot wait for our next visit. Long may they continue what they are doing, as they are doing it right!

Daughter of an Army officer
Not something i would brag about about (bloody Sunday ) still if it makes you feel superior then who am i to judge you.
so i won't
But i will judge the staff at the Peldon
and they are rude as well as forgetfull and when the over priced food does come out it really isnt worth the wait. there are much better and cheaper places to eat and you dony get chavs or snobs.

And yes Mr C I did mean to type British Army Officer not Office, but to be frank I was dammed furious that someone who had never met me felt they had the right to judge either me or my comments.

Get a life Mr C.
Australia, Singapore, Germany and America si obviously not cosmapolitan enough for Mr Carruthers. As the privately educated daughter of a British Army Office who went to public school , one thing I have never been likened to is a chav, nor have I ever been at the Plough when there has been a chav in sight!

Amanda i think what you mean is the chav's from Greenstead and Highwood estates. have seen youngs outside the peldon openly peeing in the street.

Jog On losers
The staff here are the best
the beer and food is the best some people have an attitude problem and very little patience.
Still we must feel sorry for these unhappy sad people.

Overpriced food, rude staff
Never been in this pub before, came with my brother & husband. Beautiful location, shame about the overpriced ploughmans- 1 slice of bread & ham, 2 onions, tiny salad, some crisps. Outrageous. Sharp, rude staff, felt we were a major inconvenience. Shan't be coming again. What a shame !

Magic place
I used to go often the Plough in the early Seventies, while visiting a girl-friend in the village!.I came all the way from Italy and during the journey to England I couldn't wait for the friendly atmosphere of this pub. Fantastic memories. I imagine many things must have changed since, but it remains one magic place of my life.

This pub is friendly and welcoming, even if you are not a local. The food is really good traditional british and theres usually a open fire going. The dining room is small and cosy, so you might need to book ahead!

Genuine 'Country Pub' with great food!
Friendly local pub, with fantastic food! We eat there regularly and recommend it to guests (we run a B&B) who always return raving about the quality and variety of the food. Essentially the Plough is a proper 'old fashioned' country pub, which serves its local community well, and has great food to boot. If you are looking for a 'plastic pub' like a Hungry Horse, then this is not for you!!!

Excellent night out when we had a visitor over from Australia. She was enchanted by the traditional friendly welcome and that the building had not been over modernised and lost its oldy worldy atmosphere. The food was superb!! We have enjoyed many meals here and look forward to many more!
