Not too far from the madding crowd!
The Nelson Inn is located just outside of Cirencester town centre. We were looking for a quieter location after the enthusiastic rugby fans we encountered at The Malborough Arms.
The Nelson Inn is worth visiting for the interior alone. The Ward Room has the distinction of a bar shaped like an Eighteenth Century Man of War ship. This is further enhanced by a parquet floor, traditional wooden pub furniture and a roaring open fire. It felt like a really cosy place to enjoy a meal, but as we had already eaten at The Drillman's Arms, we just glanced at the menu for future reference.
The cosy ambience was briefly interrupted by a wailing toddler, but this did not spoil our experience of The Nelson. The only minor quibble we have, is that Bombardier was the only ale on offer.
