I drank here back in the early to mid 1990's
I drank in this pub when I stayed in Seaton way back in the early to mid 1990's.

The beer was good, it had a nice relaxed atmosphere and there was a local guy back then who was a double of Lee Marvin apart from his English accent.

He would have been about 60 to 65 years of age back then and he lived in Seaton.

He drank at this pub several times a week.

I am from Australia.

I will be coming back for a holiday in the area in 2017 so I will drop in for a few pints of the local beer.

Good luck to the new managers.

All the very best.

Went in on a Monday Afternoon with a friend and my children. As we walked in half the electrics weren't turnt on in the pub but due to the kids being hungry we decided to sit down. On tying to order a Fosters I was told the pump was off. I asked what selection of bottled beer they had, we were told the fridges weren't working, the lady behind the bar then tried to pour me a Carling which was just pure froth so I settled for a glass of coke. We ordered our food(which was 80% cremated and terribly presented) at the bar and chose what we thought was a nice table in the beer garden. Not realising at the time they had very recently painted these tables with no signs stating not to sit on them, ruining my sons and my clothes. When we confronted the staff they just didn't care, the only thing I was offered was a filthy tea towel to attempt to clean ourselves up, no apology or even a sniff of a refund. After speaking with the staff we realised that we weren't actually the first people to have sat in the wet paint and I can only assume they got the same response we did! So as well as ruining our day, our clothes and serving us shit food they were not polite or at all hospitable. I strongly recommend anyone thinking of going and eating here to turn around, walk to Tesco and buy yourself a sandwich and sit on the beach because you will enjoy it a lot more and have alot less hassle!

My wife went for the Pulpo a la Gallega (Galician Occtopus) with Gambas Ajillo (Garlic Prawns) She ate the lor didnt even give me a prawn.
My Eldest daughter and my son in law went for the Jamon Iberico and chorizo (Iberian ham and spicey sausage) which they loved.

Never Again
This place has gone down hill big time. We visited a few days ago for lunch. Bearing in mind that this is still the holiday season, the place was almost empty.Maybe that should have been enough of a reason to have turned around and walked out, but we decided to stay. What follows is an honest review of our experience.
Firstly, we chose a window seat, as we've done on previous visits - the window which presumably leaks was patched up with black gaffer tape! Now, bearing in mind my earlier comment that the place was almost empty, we were still able to tell what the previous diners had eaten, because most of it was still on the carpet. The Barman, who had as much charisma as a piece of wood and wasn't rushed off his feet could have picked up a dustpan and brush and cleaned the floor. This place takes self service to a new level - you have to get your own cutlery from trays, it is a lottery as to whether the cutlery has actually been through the dishwasher! We placed our food order with the bored out of his skull barman, who hasn't been taught to say please or thank you, or as you will read later sorry. Our order arrived and was wrong, the chef (who doubles as a waiter) blamed the barman for the mix up, however the barman had taken down the order correctly, we can therefore only assume the chef / waiter couldn't actually read. To add insult to injury some of the desserts we ordered weren't available, we did get a refund for that and a kind of mumbled apology from the barman.
My advice to anyone dining in Seaton is to find somewhere else to eat. I will never visit this place again.

shame.
This pub used to be run by Richard and Shirley Greenacre and it was one of the best pubs in what used to be a busy and prosperous Seaton!!

The food was fantastic, the staff were well trained and friendly and it held its own in its prime location on the seafront and was always busy!! A real home from home!

Now, it is a complete dive and the landlord/lady should be ashamed. The staff are lazy and miserable, the food shows a complete lack of interest and the beer is over priced without cause. I wouldn't recommend this pub to a raving alcoholic who knew no better than drinking in a gutter. It is rank and is not at all contributing to the community.

Please, if you are part of this pub, help to make a change for the community, for Richard and Shirley who worked so hard in the past to make it what it once was and for your own good!

Awful
We visited this pub because it used to be splendid, my partners uncle and aunty were looking forward to visiting it again after having lovely meals in previous visits, but the food was pretty poor, my steak was over done, my partners brothers burger was brought out with cheese when he specifically asked for no cheese, fish and chips were brought out with peas not beans. The décor was horrible, big stains on the furniture, tears in the fabric, dirt on the carpet. Then they ran out of deserts, the chef and barmen had a row about who mucked up our order, would definitely not be visiting again.

This public house use to be good. We decided to visit for a meal on Sunday. Ordered food got two drinks .The windows were dirty, table stickie, Finished our drinks still no food ,went to bar and ordered two more drinks,Asked how long for food , soon. Over hour later no food still came out. Asked for our money back. I will say that they need to bleach the mugs for hot drinks , as there were dirty. I will be honest and say i was please the food did not come out. As the whole pub needs a good clean and refurbishemnet,

The bloke behind the bar at this place is a complete asshole. He was rude, moody and just shit at his job. Never once said please or thanks. In fact I don't think he even spoke to serve me, he just starred at me like a complete mong. Food was awful. Ordered a6 ounce burger that was no more than 3. sauce was not put in burger. Mayo and bbq missing.tea spoon size of coleslaw. I really cannot believe this place. I would only go back for one reason......To give the asshole behind the bar a slap!

Terrible Christmas Lunch 25/12/11
Booked for Christmas Lunch and reserved a window table. On arrival tables were occupied so had to sit down on another table. Had to get your own drinks. Starters came out relatively quick (bought out by a dirty apron wearing chef) in a huge wine glass which was packed with prawns and little lettuce and no lemon. Then main course came out over 45 minutes later another couple were waiting as well. when it came out it was cold and uninspiring and when we asked for cranberry was told oh no we don't have that?? errr its traditonal. Left most of it as a large proportion was unedible. The chef came back in and took the plates closely followed by a rather drunk and beer swiging lady barmaid who was off her face, who kept asking if we had ordered christmas pud. When it finally arrived all i can say was Asda childs size microwave pudding and surrounded by a whole tin of custard which was way too hot and again inedible. Would not go back. Disgusting food, rude barmaid and dirty scruffy chef.

Rubbish
Waited nearly an hour and the pub was empty.Had half a chicken which was burnt to a cinder. There was absolutely no meat left to eat.Complained and was told the chef had ordered incorrectly and had got quarter portions.Offered to do another portion but I had already waited long enough. Was given a couple of drinks which I suppose equated to the meal cost.Just reminded me of Fawltyu Towers with the landlord/barman going out to the kitchen and complaining to the chef which we sussed was his wife !!

Poor Attitude
Waited over 40 mins for 2 Sunday Lunches - it was not even busy !
When we complained we were told the wait was because the food had been cooked on the Saturday !!!
Got our money back with no apology. Would not recommend to anyone with that sort of attitude.
