It's a long long Road
God what do I say that hasn't already been said?
Other than it's 2019 now and I can't let this thread just die.

Barrie was a true gent. To the nth degree.

Matty a pain in the bum lmao.
But a good lad nonetheless.

Bar staff legendary.

Punters the best.

Living fire.

Dave clean up the back Yard and i'll give you 8 pints

Ok baz I'm on it. Lmao.

Loved that pub. Made me so welcome.
Was my local then for years.

Teddy. Pogo . The twins. Paddy and louis.

Not to forget leon whom I Hope to bump into again.
If Leon is his real name? James!

Sucker puncher . Not a real man. Hides behind Louis all the time.

But hey, every pub has a Walter Mitty. Golden gloves my arse Leon .

But to all the real folk. Sadly missed.

Uncle Barrie
Well uncle Barrie it's been over 13 years since you died, the chances are no one reads these posts anymore, but I got married last Valentine's Day, and your picture was on my wedding bouquet.
I actually made Robert (my husband) drive to Glasgow because I wanted artificial flowers (and the best) ... Can you imagine ... Rob were going to Glasgow tomorrow, Charlotte it's 3 hours away,
Oh thought it was 45 mins away, the reason why I wanted the best artificial
Flowers was because I wanted
To have you once again every day in my
Life, and every time I look at my wedding bouquet I turn it around and there you are,
You were my dads best man, and without you even knowing it you walked me down the isle ...
Love you so Much and you would of been proud of me, and you would of loved my Husband ... <3 xx

Mr C Johnstone
Great Public House
I started going to The Wheatsheaf over 20 years ago being close friends with Barries son Matthew. I had some unbelievably good times in there, going out for curries with Barrie and Matthew and the rest of the team from time to time in the Shalimar Gardens, Even watching Gareth Southgate miss THAT penalty in 1996!! Fond memories of a great pub and an excellent team there. I would also like to add that I have known Matthew over 20 years and I for one do not know of any criminal Violence and as for following the EDL we live in a democracy and he can support whoever he likes whether it be the EDL, Labour or the Guy that has a strange affection for pleasuring pigs.

Shame Matt Eastwood isn't such a nice guy. An EDL member and someone with a track record of unprovoked violence going a long way back.

The Wheatsheaf was a warm pub filled with warm hearted people and a wonderful landlord - Barry Eastwood. It was a pub for local people who cared about each other and who would rally round if one of their own was in need of help. Barry would give you his last pound if he thought you were in trouble and his death left a big gap in a lot of peoples lives. The Wheatsheaf is no longer standing and with it's demise goes another bit of what was good about Britain. For a lot of us, sitting among friends in a family atmosphere beats posing at snooty, over-priced, vile beer selling hell holes any day.

alas no more wheaty
This pub was an integral part of my youth growing up in Blackpool, I think a little bit of me got knocked down with it, I can remember going in with mates before the footy to sink a couple of Old Peculiars, sat by the fire with my missus having a laugh with the Barry and the characters that came in, places like this are dissapearing fast and its a sad loss to us all!
RIP Mr Eastwood RIP Wheatsheaf

heartfelt, cant take away the memories though =D
True the wheatsheaf was a haven for good food, ale, and company my father had worked in the town for 24yrs in the industry and upon his time of passing, he was the longest serving landlord in the town, thanks for all the lovely comments guys. To be fair the pub was to be demolished with the development around the talbot area.

memories
I like to class myself as a friend of Barry's dateing back to the Star days. We were his 'friends from down south' and even though we could not get to Blackpool that often there was always a friendly welcome. This note is about Barry rather the pub as when i was up there last to pay my respects to the Family i found it was shut and i think now knocked down. Allthough of course to an old school landlord like Barry he was the pub. When i was in Blackpool last time before that Barry was in hospital but i spoke to his son and had the customary few beers. Very enjoyable under i suppose sad circumsances. Anyone who knows the family please let them know there is a small note for them here. I knew to late for the funeral (The Gutterband boys told me at one of there gigs.) but would have come up. Like i said never got up to see him much but is sorely missed. I remember his Generosity and great personallity. Cheers Barry The Pubs and these characters are sadly dissapearing fast.

Scandalous
It is absolutely disgusting that the council have allowed this pub to be completely demolished.
Bet if it had been a fizz parlour full of under age, drug taking, chavs the same wouldnt have happenned - instead it would have been given a 24 hour licence.
We cannot let this happen again - these pubs are part of our heritage but unfortunately, greed and selfishness seems to always win the day.
RIP Wheaty
