Camra Winners
The Saddle Inn is the Oldest and best Real Ale pub in Blackpool , it won Camra Branch Pub of the Year 2007, and has won Joint Camra Branch Pub of the Year 2008 with the Taps in Lytham, In the Saddle Inn there is now two Regular cask beers on the bar - Thwaites & Bass plus six changing
Guest beers to choose from, the quality of the cask ale is excellent.
The landlord and staff make everyone welcome, it is a typical locals pub with people of all characters, and anyone visiting from out of town are made most welcome, They have a good chef producing excellent food for you to enjoy, and a patio area outside for you to enjoy a good pint of beer and a meal in the summer, there is also a smoking shelter provided
for people who want to enjoy a cigarette, so if you are visiting
Blackpool and are a Real Ale drinker call in and enjoy a pint of top quality beer.
Cheers

Never again!
I had the misfortune of visiting this place last Friday. The Real Ales others have mentioned here were very average. The only place I found sanctuary away from the bear-pit bar area was in the no-smoking room and everyone in there was unceremoniously booted out quite rudely by a woman in charge at 11:31. I was told outside she was the new deputy landlord by locals who were amused at my shock and horror at everyone being treated like diseased cattle. Sorry - unlike them I could never get used to that and cannot see me in there for a while. Over-rated or perhaps just a bad night? Maybe.

A Pint of Mixed Feelings about the Saddle Inn
Whenever I have visited the Saddle Inn during my frequent trips to Blackpool over the past 25 years it has always provided some great beer (real ales). Alas - the service has never been anything to write home about and they seem to have a very high turnover of staff. (A dozen or so years ago one landlord in particular actually barred a customer for speaking French (to his French colleague!) They now have a new landlord who seems keen to impress, but I haven't seen him on my last four visits on Fridays. Nor has there been any food on offer for a long time. Without sounding sexist - this really is a bloke's pub and the clientele do get a little rowdy with choice language which unfortunately sound louder in a small bar room area. Most of the staff are good natured but unfortunately there are exeptions to the rule who occasionally spoil what is usualy a good atmosphere. The bar area is very narrow and the smokey atmosphere in the bar is sometimes unbearable - but not for much longer we hope. There is howver a non smoking room with a very congenial atmosphere and this tends to be the busiest room in the pub at weekends. If you enjoy fabulous beer and are prepared to turn a blind eye to the Basil Fawlty school of accommodation Management - the Saddle Inn is definitely worth a visit.

A Real pub in Blackpool? Surely not!
The Saddle has tons of history, being Blackpool's oldest. Some Modifications over the years like the pure vandalism of the removal of the stained glass windows have taken some of the character away, but it remains one of the few pubs in Blackpool where you can choose from four or five cask ales, sit in a no-smoking room if you choose, and have a chat without being drowned out by disco music. Also, there's a new landlord who's as keen as mustard. Well worth a visit right now.
