About the Pub |
|
After a drive in the country or if you just fancy lunch out, The Plough at Eaves has always been a popular pub. Tastefully refurbished it has retained many of the same features it had many years ago although it has grown in size. There is a crackling fire in the main bar, large side room and conservatory and a games room to the rear. The main bar - no children allowed - is packed with lots of country memorabilia such as brasswork, beams, stone walls, leaded windows, farming pictures and plush carpeting and seating. There is a good choice of Thwaites beers, Lancaster Bomber, Kingston Press Dry Cider and wines on offer. The chalkboard menu offers a good variety of food at reasonable prices and the scampi I ordered came on the biggest plate I have ever had to tackle at a lunchtime! There is a large childrens play area to the rear of the carpark. The Plough was always a popular meeting place on a summers afternoon back in the 60's and it appears to still have the same attraction today. They run a regular Wednesday night pub quiz.

S Bennett Roll on Christmas ! We have had many functions at the Plough over the years with various groups, and my staff when asked where shall we go for our Christmas lunch the repy is always the Plough; which now makes it about six years on the trot(infact the girls start talking about it round about now, drool as they decide their menus) We have nothing but praise for the Plough with their pleasant staff brill food and friendly atmosphere (roll on Christmas) Thursday, August 11, 2011
I have just returned to Australia from England and my sister took me, her daughter and our mother for lunch at The Plough they had been before and loved it our ages range from 21-91 I am now recommending it to a friend who is going over to England in a week I loved the food the staff the pub no complaints from any of our party Wednesday, August 4, 2010
If your stake? was so bad why didnt you get up and complain about it you seem to have to do everything else yourself, its a public house not a 5 star restaurant. One that is still open and very busy. Thankyou for your comment Tuesday, April 27, 2010 Rating: No rosettes

Rob awful, never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 20 and I felt that I was treated shit!!! Their was a couple in front of us and the waitress showed them to a table and took their order for drinks, when she came back to us, she said “sit where you want” and little eye contact! When I got to the table I got up to order my drinks and I had to bring them to the table, when other middle aged customers had their drinks brought to them! I also got up to order my food, when again the waitress took the order for all the other tables who had middle ages people sat their. I also ordered my stake to be rare, and when I received it was well done, and I had to ask for a stake knife also No one asked us “is everything ok”. The food was poor and the service awful! Richard and Louise Excellent Pub As a family we frequent the Plough quite often. The food is always very good and the beer excellent. The bar staff both male and female are always very obliging and polite the waitresses the same. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a huge beer garden with swings and a slide for the kids. Excellent Location, Excellent Pub !!!
You didnt even come in to the pub with your dog we are dog friendly but only if they are on the back garden we remember the incident very well and my barmaid was nothing more than polite Obviosly you cannot read the signs NO DOGS ALLOWED
If you are going to make a complaint at least make sure you are the one complaining
If Beer And Beef sandwich was so awful surely on would have complained about it
Dont know where you drink or eat obviosly some where were the food and drink are crap we have never had a bad meal there and the beer is always to perfection
I went to the Plough as I read on various sites that it was dog friendly. When I arrived with my dog, no signs were on the door not allowing dogs into the pub. However, once inside I was told that dogs were not allowed by the rather unfriendly barmaid who stated it's not my fault, its the manager who decides.
What kind of service is that and surely they can't advertise something they don't offer! Dog friendly? Not even people friendly! Tuesday, March 23, 2010 Rating: No rosettes
Mick. Very dissapointing. Not what it was. Very dissapointing. Beer awful, badly kept. lager no better. Roast beef sandwich dire, chips terrible. Staff were pleasant enough, but I won't be going again. Sunday, March 14, 2010 Rating: rosettes
Im Sam the backup quiz reader (see post below). Quiz is also of a decent standard and with a jackpot that builds up weekly, with 115 pounds being won last week by a couple who came 2nd last showing it is definitely worth taking part. The pub as a whole is very popular with locals and is packed on sunny summer afternoons. Most of the staff have been there for two years making it a very well run pub/restaurant. Hopefully see you in there.

Comfortable surroundings and beautiful food makes it a must visit pub. Wednesday night is quiz night with Sam (and other Sam in his absence) and provides great entertainment just with pronunciation and questions are of a good standard. Mike is a great chef and Doreen is a perfectionist, i look forward to hearing what ur thoughts are.
peter fell hard to find but worth a visit Saturday, July 5, 2008 Rating: No rosettes
Once again an excellent meal-I eat here now at least once every two weeks. The staff are all friendly and obliging and provide a first class service. The pub seems to attract a lot of regular diners which says a lot about the quality of the place.
S Nixon Really well-run pub 14th Feb 2008. I would like to award this pub 5 rossettes for the quality of the food, service and staff. I have now eaten here about 7 or 8 times and have not been disappointed. It's never any trouble to modify my meal to accomodate a low fat diet and and the quality of cooking is superb. There is a general ambience about the place and nothing is too much trouble. A really well run pub! Wednesday, April 23, 2008
More than just home cooked food - it is excellent, restaurant quality which is why if you want to eat in the restaurant you have to book. Fantastic in Summer sitting outside in the sun whilst the kids play on the park. Yes it has doubled in size but it is definitely a plus. Doreen and Mike are fantastic, he chefs whilst Doreen is hostess and she likes everything to be just right and for everyone to be happy. They never forget your face or your name! Jackie Could do much better Oh dear - TOASTED beef sandwich?? Dreadful catering beef and dry toasted bread, could do a lot better.
The odd smile from the landlady wouldn't go a miss.
Shame because it is a great pub.
