Not been in for some time and pleased that the brewery have done more than just a lick of paint this time round. Food OK. Standard pub chain fare but many tables not cleared or wiped properly. Bar staff a bit hit and miss though assistant manager (Mike?) very helpful and polite. Was talking to one of the locals who reckons most people prefer him to the Landlady.

This is my local pub. I lived near it a long time before I ventured in as it had a somewhat bad reputation. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff are courteous at all times. The atmosphere is very family orientated during the day and very relaxed and friendly in the evenings.
My only complaint (if you can call it that?) is that there needs to be a little more entertainment especially on a saturday night.

Janette has transformed the pub,since she took over.From a drab and dreary place,it is now somewhere,that more and more people are visiting.Very good food.very good prices.Always something going on there in the evenings.Very popular place,lovely staff.Keep on going.

Landlady need lessons in customer service.Costs nothing to be polite. Not enough staff at busy times. Don't go in the vaults as you won't get served. Only interested in serving you if you're buying food. Won't be going in again.

last time i was in the newton i was talking to a member of staff called lou. i found her to be very polite and helpful and i would certainly take my custom there again if just to see her smiling face.
