About the Pub
Situated on Heatley Street just off the busy Friargate this small friendly pub has for years hosted live music nights on a weekly basis.
John - Feb 2004
A bit grim these days, ales OK but loud jukebox and strong smell of disinfectant not to everyone's taste. Clientele a bit low-end too.

Rough people ferquent
Pauline and Bob landlords, but Bob can be found Monday to Sunday drinking in the blue bell on church Street, from dawn to dusk, it makes me wonder why Bob shuns his own pub to drink in a rival's establishment? Obviously the landlord dosent want to spend any time in his own pub but prefaires spending his money and time in another pub, that's the reality, make your own mind up why Bob prefaires to drink elsewhere? It's Pauline I feel sorry for, she's clearly the backbone in that relationship

Paul Sullivan.
Assaulted
Festooned with England flags and full of oddballs. I suffered a minor sexual assault as I stood up to leave. I informed a barmaid and the bouncer, who both seemed to think it was most amusing. By the way I'm a 65 year old man and the person who assaulted me was a middle aged man. See what I mean about oddballs?

Good Ale. Good Food. Good People!
Great pub with an ever changing and varied range of real ales. Very friendly and helpful staff, and a good atmosphere. The beer festivals here are not to be missed and they do food too so you don't need to go anywhere else. An oasis in Preston city centre. The photo here needs updating though.

Good beer and food
Go here if you like nice oldy worldy pubs that serves good real ales and is small but cosy. The home-made burgers are the best in Preston (or at least they used to be with the previous owners - hope they keep it up)
