What a major let down.
After reading the reviews and receiving good feedback from this establishment. I ordered a meal from their a-la-carte menu.

The meal was supposed to be Chicken Breast in a Lancashire Cheese Sauce with crispy Parma Ham, served with vegetables and chunky chips.

What I receive was chicken breast swimming in salty soup with burnt ham. The vegetables were fine. The chunky chips were so salty they were impossible to eat. (The menu did not suggest that the chips were pre salted).

HEALTH WARNING

Anyone who suffers with Hypertension or needs a low salt diet stay away. The menu does not tell you that salt is used extensively in their cooking.

When I complained the so called chef said he will ensure that when I come again this will not happen.

There will not be the opertuntty as I will never set foot in this place again. The chef needs to complete his training at a fast food outlet before setting foot in a kitchen.

This experience cost me nearly 10:00 and feeling very sick all evening and the following morning.

You are better off visiting the local KFC and drinking a pint of salt water. The effect is the same and you only pay 5:00

Great home made food
We ate tonight at the Nabs Head as our usual haunt had a power cut and were highly impressed by the quality of the food.

It appeared quite clear that all of it was prepared on site, including to our surprise the kids meal.

The only disappointment was the limited range of beer. Some cask ales would make this into an unmissable pub.

Stopped off for a meal on Easter Sunday whilst having a run in the country with my son.
I cannot wait to get back there for another meal, and to try another choice off the menu. Both of us just sat for ages going over the quality and service. I aim to visit with my family in turn for any meals out ,in the near future although coming from the Ormskirk area it is quite a trip but well worth it. Best meal I can remember for a very long time. Only visited website to find my way again but glad to spread the word.

excellent experience
Firstly, matthew is totally wrong and he has not been in the nabs head because the food is second to none. There is a variety of food to choose from on the menu and my children had alot of dishes to choose from as well. The staff were tremondous and the bill at the end of the evening was very reasonable. Will be going back again.........

Out of all the pubs i have been for a bite to eat, this has to be by far one of the nicest in the Northwest area.

The Staff are friendly and polite, giving a sense of familiarism and making you feel at home. The quality of the food is high, with a wide range of choice on the menu catering to all tastes.

I always feel the best way to judge a pub that serves food, is by how much you are reluctant to leave once you have finished the meal. And i have to say, i only went in for afternoon tea, and i ended up staying there until closing.

Definitely reccommended.
