Fawlty Towers Move Over!
I would rate this pub in Dining Experiences 2 out of 10. They haven't got a clue. Unless your starving avoid at all costs.

called at the Fairhaven, Sunday 15/07/12. Party of 7 @ 5.00 pm, only 2 other tables in use. Ordered 7 starters & 7 mains. 40 minutes passed with no food arriving. the waitress then came to the table & said they had no prawns for the cocktail starters but had sent out for some. The 2 prawn cocktails
came in a soup bowl both had warm prawns 2 in one bowl & 3 in the other.. 30 mins later the mains came which were all passable.. Only 2 ordered starters one ice cream & one cheesecake 20 mins passed then the waitress came & said they had no cheesecake at this point we decided to ask for the bill & leave,, The electric then failed in the whole pub, the till would not open, when some time later it did there was no change.. i am local as was everyone else.. Do not go here to eat what a 2 & a half hour fiasco for an 84 year old great grandad & his family

STELLA SIDDALL
RE SUNDAY 15TH APRIL
WHEN THE PUB REOPENED WE TRIED A SUNDAY LUNCH AND FOUND IT EXCELLENT WIOTH GOOD SERVICE.
AS A RESULT WE TOOK FRIENDS ON THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY.
WE SAT AT A TABLE NEAR THE CASH DESK AND KITCHEN ENTRANCE FOR 25 MINUTES AND ONLY RECEIVED A MENU WHEN I STOOD UP AND ASKED IF I WAS INVISIBLE.
THE 6 MEALS WE HAD WERE SO BAD I HAD TO DEMEND A REDUCTION IN THE COST. ALL THE VEGETABLES WERE BURNT UNDERNEATH AND RAW ON TOP. THE POTATOES WERE AS BAD AND THE 3 ALL DAY BREAKFASTS WERE WORSE. THE PLATES WERE GREASY THE EGG RAW ON TOP AND BURNT UNDERNEATH AND THE TOAST WAS WHITE WITH ONE PALE BROWN STRIPE SO IT WAS SENT BACK. IT TOOK 20 MINUTES TO COME BACK AND WAS IN THE SAME STATE. ANY CHEF WHO CANT USE A TOASTER SOULD BE RETRAINED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
WHILSE WE WERE DISCUSSING THIS MATTER WITH ONE OF YOUR STAFF A VERY RUDE WAITER CAME PAST OUR TABLE TOLD THE MAN WE WERE SPOEAKING TO TO GO AND TAKE ANOTHER ORDER IN THE CORNER AS HE WAS SICK OF SEEING HIM CHATTER TO THE CUSTOMERS

YOU HAVE A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH YOUR CHEF AND YOUR STAFF AND NO WAY WILL IO EVER USE YOUR PUB AGAIN

Local
Poor Value, Poor Service
I went to the Fairhaven at 7.30pm on a Thursday night, there were 4 of us eating. The meals provided cold chips, 10oz fatty gammon, egg shell in the fried egg and cheap mayonnaise. It took 40 minutes to get the food, then another 5 minutes for the condiments! With the drinks the bill was over 62. The plates then sat on the table for another 25 minutes, so I took them to the bar myself. I will not be eating there again and I'm not sure about drinking there as they only have one choice of red wine by the bottle. Shame, as it looks quite nice inside.

Very Poor
We went today for lunch, but it was an unhappy experience. The food took an hour to be served, Cumberland whirl was just replaced with ordinary sausages as they had run out. Sea bass was 12.95 and served with seasonal vegetables. These turned out to be baby potatoes (just a few) and peas. We were also charged for a jug of plain water with a piece of lemon...the bar bill for that and a pint of Wainwrights came to 7.00. Overall very expensive for very little. We will not be returning.

Disappointing
As a local we were pleased to see the Fairhaven was undergoing refurbishment...about 20yrs overdue. We went last night to try out the new 'Gastro' pub experience. We couldn't see too much difference from the old menu but expected good home cooking. Unfortunately as it was following Mothers Day, the kitchen seemed to have run out of several items and we received alternatives to the menu. Again, we'll give them that, however we were disappointed with the frozen chips, what appeared to be microwaved chicken and boring rice. The only upside was the salad was fresh and the meals were in swanky new dishes. Overall...fab decoration in the refurbishment, but please make your own food...its not hard to make proper chips and you'll make a bomb. Gastropub its not at the moment.

A new management team, Chris Erskine and Brian McCulloch took over the Fairhaven in Dec 2011. I ate there at the new year celebrations and found it an excellent experience. All the staff were very professional and the food was clearly fresh and well presented. I would certainly recommend a visit.

It was BAD
When Morgans were in charge for the first time in my life I asked for my money back and got it without question. The food was inedible - fish and chips and chicken curry - simple food but clearly straight from the freezer/packet. Burgers and hot dogs were the main offerings - OK up the road in Blackpool - but hardly home cooking.
Living close by, the empty dining room every day spoke volumes, as did the comments of people who had shared my bad experience. The inevitable happened when Morgans left in mid December.
The previous reviewer must have enjoyed a fluke or have very low expectations.
The new tenants have a menu of PROPER pub food and will oversee a refurbishment in the New Year. Welcome back The Fairhaven of old!!

WOW WHAT SERVICE !!!
I can't believe the previous comment made,my wife and myself had spend a weekend in Blackpool and thought we would call in for sunday lunch,The barman called Sam was very polite and helpfull and the menu was very varied and not too pricey. When our orders arrived the plate was over flowing and lovely and hot. This was certainly not out of a freezer and then microwaved.
This pub has a lot going for it,if we ever get back this way we will pop in again.

The Fairhaven Pub - Morgans Chain
The Fairhaven Pub has been taken over by the Morgan's Chain. If you want poor quality microwavable food then eat here. Our visit this weekend highlited the demise of the pub's restaurant following takeover by the new owners. This is the fist time in over ten years that I've seen the restaurant area of the pub completely empty, which speaks for itself. The menu is typical of low brow out of town pubs and totally unsatifsactory for this type of pub in this area. Such a shame as we have eaten there on a weekly basis for the past ten years but will never eat there again.

How Wrong Can You Be?
I visted the Failhaven yesterday wiith 10 of my family, ranging in age between 8 weeks and 80 years. The astmosphere was excelltn, the staff efficient, the food fresh and very tasty and well priced. The landlord was very pleasant and helpful. I sometimes wonder what people actually think they want when they write such negative comments. We have been to the Fairhaven a number of time now and have never been disappointed. Perhaps i am easily pleased - no I'm NOT.

Faihaven
Having just visited this pub I can honestly say I have never in all the places i have eaten around the counrty ever experienced anything like the manager of the Fairhaven. To say he was rude and unfriendly would be an understatement. the earlier posting on this site shows he obviously doesn't learn from his mistakes and hasn't changed. I will definately be spreading the word around the area as there will be absolutely no recommendations from me for this place

We found the owner/manager extremely surly in his dealings with us. We got the impression he had better things to do than be pleasant to people who are paying his wages. We have also spoken to others who all said the same thing. We won't be back.
