About the Pub
Very welcoming olde worlde style pub with lots of dark wood and leather-look studded bar stools and chairs. In theme with the name there are many bells around the top of the long, low bar and hanging from wooden beams. There are pictures of sporting events on the walls and 'horsey' paraphenalia here and there. Tables and chairs are set outside the front of the pub under hanging baskets and upstairs is the New Bell Restaurant which, on the night we were there, was enticing us up with the smell of steak!

The best reading pub
I lived in Edinburgh for about 3 months a few years back to get away from it all and write a book. I went to The Old Bell almost nightly to read books and enjoy a good pint. The atmosphere is perfect, not too bright but not too dim. Wooden tables, stone walls. Lovely!

The New Bell is it!
I wasn't downstairs, but I visited the New Bell about two weeks ago and found it to be phantastic.

The food, the wine, the service: I found it nothing short of perfect.
I can fully understand the description of the duck dish described above.

Scotland's Nostalgia
Hello, i'm a french guy who lived in Edinburg formerly. I apologize for my english but I don't have a really good english. I don't know if this place still working but I worked in the kitchen of the New Bell restaurant five years ago and it was a really good and famous restaurant.
I ate few times and the duck was orgasmic (a nice customer said us one time)
The Boss were really nice (Rick and Michelle) and the chef funny (Didier).
The Old Bell was really good too (downstairs).
