About the Pub
The bar has recently been re-opened by Fuller Thomson, after a full refurbishment, where they designed it back to its traditional look.
Lucy - Jun 2009
Nobles Bar appears quite small from the outside but opens into a great hall of a room once through the door with lots of nautical prints and stained glass. The bar menu is available at lunchtimes. Nobles gets very busy at the weekend when there are live acts on.

The Pub has changed and now is a thriving pub for everyone and the food is really good and it's mostly families that come in. but everybody will get a real Edinburgh welcoming

Terrible
This pub is the reason i no longer have a father but a he/she who no longer wants to see his grandchildren and doesnt care about his family or the shame and humiliation he put my mother through

Blast from the Past
Takes me back to my childhood
There was allsorts of rumours about the Noble
I Guess that's why they had the stained windows , to keep prying eyes out as you could still be jailed for being Homosexual.
My Uncle Ian who was homesexual loved this place and used to get me and my sister to do his make up before he went to the noble on a saturday night. A lot of the men were married anf terrified about their family finding out and used to store their dresses and wigs at the pub.

Well done to Nobles Bar and Scotland for having a gay bar during the 1940's and 1950's well ahead of their time.

Graeme Wallace
Nobles Bar
My father owned Nobles Bar back in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Back then it was a men only drinking establishment, frequented by the workers from the dock area. The bar was in the centre of the room, but the stain glass windows look the same
