About the Pub
A listed building on Rose Street the Kenilworth dates back to the 1700's. To the rear of the main bar is a designated childrens room where good quality food cooked on the premises can be bought. The decor surrounding the large mahogany bar consists of lovely tiling and leaded glass. The pub is popular with shoppers and tourists and can get very busy with the weekend revellers.

I was extemely lucky to find this pub early in my 3 years of working in Scotland. It is my favorite pub with excellent pints, drams, and food. The staff made me feel welcome and at home from the start of my early visits to Edinburgh. Just wonderful folks and atmosphere.

*****Purse Theft Alert*****
HAD PURSE STOLEN ON 3RD JANUARY. Clear CCTV footage of girl in mid to late 20s, slim build, 5'7, blue or green eyes, blonde or light brown hair. Cream colured NIKE beany hat, black jacket with furry collar, grey leggings and boots. Had brown handbag and black/orange mobile phone. Scottish accent, possibly working as a pair or group. SAT ON THE END OF THE BAR IN THE SEAT NEAREST THE RIGHT HAND SIDE DOOR. LOOK OUT FOR THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice pub apart from that incident!!!

Waited ages to be served as the staff were busy attending to what seemed to be regulars. The food we ordered was not as described on the menu(soup of the day with thick cut bloomer and a platter of butter)no bloomer no butter!!!
Welsh rarebit(a whole mini farmhouse loaf with a mustard dressing covered in toasted cheese and drizzled with worcester sauce)in reality was on a quarter slice of panini bread.
The Manager? just sniggered and made us feel uncomfortable for pointing this out, and the chef? passed our table 3 times to glare at us for having the ordasity to question the menu.
Not recommended if you want to feel welcome give it a miss.

The pub has a very old feel about it. The variety of ale etc is very good, My only criticism is that here never seems to be enough staff to man the bar.
Warm and pleasant atmosphere.

Best Angus Steak at a good price!
During my seven days stay in Scotland
this is the place where I had the best
Aberdeen Angus steak. The ale was a bit too warm for my taste though.

Fantastic night had by all
50 of us managed to get into the pub and corner the poor guitarist. He played all night long and the atmosphere was incredible.

Thanks to the guitarist (sorry, can't remember his name) and thanks to the pub for letting us all in.

Also, I'd like to thank the pub for refusing to serve me alcohol the previous night - on account of me being too smashed. Despite my protests, you were right, I was wrong.

I really recommend this pub. Highlight of my weekend.

Good Time Had By All
Saturday Night and the The Gunners had just whitewashed The Dragons at Murrayfield. Arriving back in the City found a warm welcome, good beer and a hilarious live band who didn't stop for at least 2 hours!!!

Can't wait to go back and revisit.
