About the Pub
With a good selection of guest and in house ales, whiskies and wines the Golden Rule is a popular place with locals and ale appreciators from all over the city. The main bar has bar stools and bench seating and no music. Down a few steps can be found the lounge bar where there is a juke box. Bar snacks are served all day. The Golden Rule is a very pleasant, friendly bar worth a visit at any time during the day or evening.

First place we went when i arrived home
I used to live in a flat just across the road and used to regularly drive back from a week away in England. Thinking about a visit to the Rule always improved my mood on those journeys home.

Brilliant Visit to the Rule
My mate was living in Fowlers Ter, i came thru from Dundee to visit him, he took me to his local where we got rat assed on Orkney Skull Crusher, place was friendly and atmospheric, would love to come back and pay another visit.
Thumbs up from a Dee!

Ian, presumably this was when it was the crappy Yeaman Bar? My Grandparents lived in Yeaman Place for 30 years or more, and I don't think the Yeaman was the best of drinking establishments in these days?

Well I'm totally Bitter & Twisted about the Golden Rule and I love it!!! You will never get a better pint of ale, lager or guest lager/beer in Edinburgh. Along with the bar staff, it makes the Rule the best anytime pub that I've ever been to. Unfortunately I've been in OZ for 14 months, drinking lesser beers, but I will be back for my Bitter & Twisted Ale in the rule where everyone hopefully still knows my name.........David!!!!!

Rule rules!
I'm lucky enough to live just 2 doors down from the Golden Rule and must say it is a very pleasant pub. Theres nothing I like better than popping in on way home from work for a refreshing pint of frosted Hogarden for less than 2.70. The locals are really friendly. I should know as I'm one of them!
Excellent Juke Box and lively quiz night on Tuesdays.
