It keeps the old hearty need for real ale pubs in England. As the tap and spile chine was set up to bring real ales to the country this is one of the few still doing so. All in all a very nice pub good beer and friendly atmosphere. The best pub in Guisborough to get ales and very nice they are.

Used to be a tidy litte pub, but things have started to go off in recent months. Staff are friendly enough, but not switched on at times. Bar is always sticky with spilled beer, and tables never seem to be wiped during the day. The whole place needs a spruce up. The bar area is ok, and can get busy. Back room is quieter, and the horrible dark area behind the bar is smelly and best avoided.
Reasonable selection of real ales, which tend to be of varying quality.
This can be a pleasant pub, but band nights are worth a miss. Music is too loud, and quiet often not very good.
Has a pool table and good juke-box.
Be interesting to see what happens to this place when the Blue Lounge opens next door.

I LOVE the chilli in ere. oooo its proper nectar, with all those chips and that cheese. oooo, makes me mouth water just thinking about it. Once, the barman shouted 'Chilli Chips and Cheese' out and i said it was mine, but before i could tell him it wasn't, I'd eaten the whole bloody lot of it. Just too bloody good.
