Poor and awful service
Myself and my family went to the restaurant on the evening of 13th April 2009 for a meal. We had booked the table previously and there were seven of us in total.

We were slightly early and seated immediately. Our orders were taken and it took about 20 minutes for the 3 ordered starters to arrive. These arrived at 18.45 and the plates were cleared around 18.55. We then all sat back with anticipation of our main meal arriving. Unfortunately after no word or apologies from anyone we were told at 19.30 that our meal would be ‘another 10 minutes’ as ‘there was a problem in the kitchen’. Bearing in mind we had already waited for 45 minutes. On a visit to the bar after this news was delivered, we were told that the two chicken dishes we had ordered were burnt and that is what the delay was. After another half an hour our food finally arrived. We all ate every morsel as by this point we were all starving. Unfortunately, three of us ordered the Cumberland Sausage, which would have been lovely if the sausage was not so overcooked that it took brute force to cut through the burnt underside of the sausage. We did not complain about this at the time as, we had all eaten our meal out of pure starvation.

Not once during this whole situation, were we offered any apology, or even a round of drinks to compensate for the shoddy service.

To top things off when the deserts came half the table were served and then the waitresses served another table and finally about 10 minutes later, finished serving our table. We were hoping to at least enjoy our deserts together, but as some of them were hot, this was not to happen because of the poor service at the restaurant.

Whilst we were waiting we noticed several people were served before us who had come into the restaurant after us. The landlady also was sitting down enjoying a meal with a friend whilst we were still waiting to get our food. Also, after looking on the website the menu had several items missing off it compared to the one on the website, I would also like to point our that 2 of the dishes were not available that night and there was only one portion of another left.

My sister in law complained as we left and was greted with disdain from the landlady. As we spent £167.05 in the restaurant for food and drink that was not up to standard for the prices that were charged I would expect to get a bit more of compensation and general courteousness from the landlady and staff. I will certainly not be recommending it to others anymore. They all seemed to be more concerened about havinf a cigarette outside than anything goin on inside the pub.

Very poor service
Fodd was tasty enough but the service was dreadful. At these prices I expect better service. One of us never received their vegetables. One main meal was served in 3 seperate lots. Altough asked to, manager did not come and speak with us. We had to seek him out - and then he was incredibly rude and offensive. Will not be returning and will tell everybody to aviod this place.

Good food at a reasonable price.
I agree with Kate on this one. Top class food which is a little bit different, the veggie options were a real treat. The staff were pleasant enough without being over the top. The only word of warning - this is not fast food and you might need to wait a bit for it, there again it's all freshly prepared - we thought that it was well worth the wait and that includes our 11 year old daughter.

Pub food in lovely setting
Cannot disagree more with previous reviewer's comment. Good quality food that is that bit more interesting than standard pub grub. Waiting staff and owners alike polite and friendly enough -just not gushing!

Sunday lunch for 5 adults
Not a warm welcome for five eating Sunday lunch outside. Expensive Greek salad and small with no accompanying bread. Try other local pubs in surrounding area for a better deal.
