 What an improvement!
I attend the quiz on a Tuesday and had been tempted by the innovative and unusual menu offering Thai Food(The Landlady is Thai) and American dishes(American chef) as well as the well proven English fare. Having eaten three times so far I can honestly say the food was plentiful and up to expectation. Each visit sees an increase in diners and drinkers so they must be doing the right things in today's difficult circumstances.

 NEW OWNERS! HERE TO STAY!!
Hi,
I thought I would check out this site to see what the OLD reputation of my new place of work is and I was horrified!
However, it also makes me pleased to say that there are new owners at the Priory, Rick and Noi Adams.
All new Thai and American menu, from ladylady Noi and our chef Robert. Fresh homemade food.
We are all very friendly behind the bar and have a lot of great ideas to bring The Priory back to it's former glory of years ago. Therefore, I would recommend that you give us a chance :) Hope to see you soon!

 Mixing your drinks
Went here for a quick work celebration with a couple of colleagues. Ordered a pint of something and Eduardo the Italian behind the bar poured half of it and let it settle. He then poured half of something else in to finish it off. When one or two of us tried to explain he said something in loud european but we didn't understand. He then said that he'd been talking to me, and if I didn't answer him then it couldn't be his fault, and suggested that I go and see Sister Maria over the road (old people's home), which I assume means something funny in Wop.

Anyhoo the place is so bad that I keep going back to see what happens next - like a train crash. I suppose it's a method.

I had an amazing meal with my family on Mothering Sunday, the staff were fab and the food was to die for. The new managers were great and me and my family were welcomed with open arms. Ignore the bad review below what a load of rubbish. The Italian manager was great very warm and welcoming and he is an amazing chef.
We all loved the food.

Frequent visitors to the Fox. Always enjoy our times spent there. Wide choice of drinks, vast choice on the menu, all offering great value for money. The staff are always helpful and enthusiastic, would definitely recommend!

Disgusted

At the end of a country walk we arrived in Quorn ready for a meal. We popped into the Quorndon Fox. We received a grumpy greeting from a young man behind the bar but undeterred we politely asked to see the menu. The young man went to the end of the bar to fetch them. He walked back and as he passed us his arm came over the bar to hand us the menu. No eye contact, no pleasantries. Just a grimace on his face. Needless to say we put the menu down and walked out.
Never again.

 Awful attitude
We decided to have a quick coffee around 5ish after work, 3 of us and one was disabled and walks with the use of a stick. We decided to sit round the back, not realising this was allegedly a 'dining only' area. only 2 elderly diners in there at the time. We were approached by a young male waiter who wanted us to order, we informed him we were just having a coffee and he said quite huffily we werent allowed to sit there, it was diners only and we had to move, we asked that we be allowed to finish the coffee and we'd remove ourselves to the bar. He was adamant we had to move, he didnt make the rules and thats what they were, rules, by this time we asked to see the manager so he flounced off to fetch him. Well, im assuming it was the manager, next thing you know, a short stocky, very grubby looking (thought he was the cellar man for a start judging by his appearance) appeared and as soon as we saw him we could see he was going to be rude, and we werent disappointed, wasnt prepared to listen, wouldnt allow us to finish our coffee despite it being extremely quiet and empty, and virtually escorted his from the area and was quite happy to give us an argument about iis business practices and management skills. His overall impression/aggressive body language was that he used to be a 'doorman'. Certainly shouldnt have been a manager of a pub requiring tact, dipomacy and people skills!! If this was just having a just a coffee and sitting in the wrong place, god help you if you ever need to complain about anything else. Go to The Manor, The White Horse or the Exchange instead!!

Disatisfied Local Businessman

Booked table for 5 on line 3days prior for 7.00pm.
Arrived at 6.45, ordered drinks at bar and were told that our table was being 'cleared' and that the Barman would advise when ready.
We sat in the bar in view of the aforementioned Barman who when reminded at 7.25 advised that the restaurant staff had forgotten to tell him !! We were then seated at a table that was clearly available when we arrived !!!!!.
Food was excellent but service dis-organised. Upon complaining we were told that they had had a very busy day - surely every diner should receive the same level of good service.

 Good food, friendly staff
I haven't been here for some years as not in the area. Went back today and things changed round a bit. Serve until five on a Sunday with a choice of set menus. We both had roast beef. Good amt of beef with good sized yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and boiled veg. Plenty and filling too. The yorkies and roasties come slightly blackened, but this isn't a one-off I remember this from last time so must be cooked this way on purpose. Tastes great nonetheless. Service quite friendly, not too expensive and to top it off fantastic selection of draught beers!! Ignore the other bad comments, just other people being miserable!!

 The Priory Loughborough
Did not go down well with my guest.
After driving from the Cotswold to have Sunday lunch at the priory, would have been better of taking guest to Mac Donald’s. Two very small slices of beef drowned in gravy three tiny baked potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Veg came in a little square bowl enough for two not enough for. On of the worst meals I have had in a long time will not be going back there, and will be spreading the word around to family and friends

 Priory Pub - Nanpantan, Loughborough
Agree with comments by Andrew. Saw his review but decided to give the place the benefit of the doubt. Went for lunch with some colleagues from work and we were all late back, despite having allowed extra time for this treat. We were shown to the table, served drinks and then forgotten. Had to ask to be served, and eventually we were told that there was a 25 min wait for food. By this time we didn't have time to go elsewhere and decided to risk it. After 20 mins we were told there were no jacket spuds left and one of our party of four had to make a new food order. After 30 mins we queried the wait to be told the food would be 5 mins. We came to the conclusion that the cook couldn't cope with more than one order at a time. When we complained (politely) we were told that they'd been unexpectedly busy the night before and had had a rush at the start of the lunch time service - which we saw no evidence of as we arrived just after 12.30pm. Food was OK but the service needs to buck up. Not a place to go for lunch unless you're retired and have all afternoon to kill. Next time we decide to treat ourselves to lunch we will go elsewhere.

 Worst Customer Service Ever!!
I have never been to any restraunt where the service was as poor as this. Our party of 9 arrived around 5 minutes late to find the manager (if you would call her that) on the phone to see if we were coming and she promptly ushered us to our table. We had to re-arrange the table as we couldnt sit 9 people the way they had arranged it. We then had to wait an hour for our starters which only arrived after one of our party went to enquire if there was a problem. We then had to wait another 40 odd minutes for the main course again after we had asked where they were. At this stage the manager(!!) came over and announced in a very loud voice that the reason the food was delayed was due to the fact that we were late!!!!! The mains were nearly all Sunday roasts, so all these would have been prepared well in advance. The 2 course meal took nearly 2.5 hours. I asked to see the owner as we were leaving but was told she was too busy. I then told the manager how bad the service was and how rude she had been to us, at which point she said Well you know not to come here again! So a word of warning to anyone thinking of going here for a meal-Take the managers advice and DONT!!

Yes you were right at the time and I stopped going for the same reasons, however, it changed hands in October 2006 and has been fully refurbished inside and out. The new Landlord and Landlady are friendly, there is entertainment on every weekend. Sunday lunch is out of this world, all fresh and the best Sunday Lunch I have ever had in Lougborough. If you have not been in yet then you must, it really is a great little pub once again

 Enjoyable evening
Well after reading the previous listing we were very sceptical about what we would find. We went to have drink with work colleagues. When we entered there was obviously a new barmaid on who was very helpful and with the managers support gave us the drinks we wanted. We sat with our friends who we eating and decided to eat ourselves. All our meals were great and good portions. The menus had plenty to choose from and the waiter was polite and helpful. As we arrived later he was apologitic that our main meals would arrive later than the others but that wasn't a problem and the delay was 5 minutes if that. A thoroughy enjoyable evening, nothing too expensive for normal pub food.

 not enough compliments
people find it easy to complain but not compliment when things are right. I have been a regular at the quorndon since the new landlady has been their things have definately improved greatly since liz left and she is always there whether she should be, to please the customers. I have had great experiences and even if something has gone wrong its been dealt with efficiently andt for the best for the customers. I know for a fact that the present landlady will be there even on her days off because she wants the pub to be successful and guests to be happy. Definately worth a visit and if you come look me up am a regular there and enjoy every minute.

 love it
i have been a customer of the QF for several years and have to say that even though there was a drop in standards at the change of managers now it is running superbly mainly due to the talents of the landlady who is very businesslike and professional and is there to please us customers, and leads her staff well. The only downfall is the lack of choice in beers.

 Good Food and Good Service
I also have to defend the Quorndon Fox, They have a fantastic garden with patio heaters to the rear and the only time I know that the Manageress has not allowed food to be served on the lawn is when it is a health and safety issue and danagerous for the staff. A must see garden with friendly people and great service. Good value for money.

 Mediocre
I agree entirelywith one of the previous posts, don'f bother to go!!
Last night my meal was very dry, we were not offered any condiments till half way through the meal, for which we were offered a complimentary coffee, the dessert was heavy and tasteless. We were sreved by a series of little girls who did not seem to know what they were doing. To add insult to injury we were asked to pay the bill at 9.45pm as the boss wanted to cash up!!
Go elsewhere

All in all extremely good value.
At 73 and a grumpy old man I'm extremely fussy about food and service. It was four years since last having a meal at the (Bulls Head) Quorndon Fox and reading comments on these pages before booking a table I nearly didn't! Glad I did! Food and service? At £27 plus a good tip meal for four ageing adults it was excellent value value for money and is highly recommended.

 Dearie Me!!!! What a disaster!
Four of us went out for a meal one evening in April. We were booked for 8.30 and arrived at 7.45 for drinks, telling staff we were there. They told us at 8.45 that our table was still occupied, we finally sat down at 9.00. One of our starters was given to someone on another table, so we'd finished ours before he even got his. The 'Well Done' steak was, even by the waitresses standard, 'Rare'. The Pie crust was black and rock hard. The side ordere never even made it to the table until far too late and to top it off the desserts we ordered at 10.00 arrived at 10.35 AFTER we had complained and were told the kitchen had 'Forgotten' us. Needless to say, we offered to pay half of the bill and the dining room manager even admitted herself she would have done the same thing and that the service that evening had been atrocious!!!! To say we were stupefied was an understatement. In remains to say that we'll not be eating there for a VERY long while. One saving grace though, the bar staff are top rate, drinks well presented with friendly smiles and that I do give a s**t about you attitude spoke volumes!

 Oh dear.
I didn't think I'd go back to the Quorndon Fox after my last experiece, but events conspired against me today that meant I had to visit again.

The service is getting worse and worse in this place. The food was acceptable today but beat the drinks to the table by a good five minutes and the ability of staff to wander about aimlessly without looking at customers is amazing.

When other local pubs like The Manor at Quorn or even sister pub The Badger's Sett at Anstey can turn in consistently high service, why can the Fox not get it right?

Very, very poor.

In reply to Mr Paul Mitchell yes our food is homemade and no actually our garlic bread is not bought in. As for poking fun at our miserable staff strange that we get so many compliments about how pleasant and helpful our staff are. Also if you had read the menu and not been so occupied at poking fun at the staff you might not have had to wait the 15 minutes to order as the menu does state that you need to place your order at the bar.

 Great Sunday dinners
I go here regularly for Sunday dinners. £5.50 approx for a sunday roast - you cant beat it! I ring in advance now & the staff always reserve a table. Food always comes absolutely piping hot, all fresh & home cooked. Been in on the odd occasion on a sat night, live music & a sunday night quiz. Interior a little tired but its a traditional pub! Treat yourself to a Sunday roast!

 Disgruntled Customer
Distinctly unimpressed with the Fox of late. Since Liz left to go to a pub in Leeds, the pub has struggled to keep up to her high standards.

Of late the quality of service has plummeted and simple things like getting drinks delivered to the table or being asked if everything is okay has gone by the wayside.

I'm afraid I won't be back for a while.....

 waitress at the fox
i am going to defend the quorndon fox's rule of not eating outside, we are having problems with staff shortages and would like it if customers could bear with us while we try to train new waitresses up to the required standard. the rule is only in place on days where we have unexpected business and therefore cannot cater for the guests wishing to eat on the grass. we do apologise excessively on these occasions and would not like to think that this does not deter guest from visiting us again.

 Not so good
My wife and I visited The Quorndon Fox last Saturday evening for a glass of wine. Whilst drinking the wine the/a chef passed through the bar from the kitchen. The standard of his dress and cleanliness was so bad that we both said that we would never eat in this establishment. Dirty (white?) chefs jacket, no hat, no apron, dirty blue check chef's trousers rolled up to the knee and black, dirty looking, trainer shoes. What an advertisment for the establishment - perhaps if all your guests were able to see this standard of cleanliness the 'pub wouldn't be so busy. With a combined total of 50 years of so in commercial and educational catering neither of us have witness such a bad example - what a shame !!
