 Spreadeagle Pub, Charles Street
I worked here as a barmaid in the 1980's after leaving the Black Swan, due to landlord/landlady leaving. Was a good atmosphere, had current video's of chart music, pool team (which were very competitive), always buzzing. Very popular and had a lot of people that would do the rounds, including the Rainbow and Dove, Barley Mow and Queens Head (although cannot find any reference to this!) and Royal Standard etc, etc. A lot of these pubs are now gone, such a shame!

 Not Impressed
On the 17th march 2012 I went with my daughter to the Slug and Lettuce in Leicester, Market Street, while the food was fine I did not like how it was presented. I had a chicken burger ,which came on wooden block that looked well used, the chips were in a pot container that was chipped , the coleslaw came in a dish that was also chipped. Overall I was not impressed.

Ms A Murrell
We booked a table for 6/1/11 for 10 people for my daughter's birthday. When we got there, they had not booked the table but did say they would get one ready for us asap. When they came back they told us that we were being seated on 2 seperate tables - they were not even next to each other, one was on the upper level and the other on the lower level - we couldn't even see each other - this was a birthday party - how ridiculous - we cancelled our meal and booked a table at The Red Cow, Leicester Forest East - VERY NICE.

 Excellent food
We are frequent visitors of this family pub, which serves great food and drink at reasonable prices. It is a very popular and busy pub. Try it out when you next drive by.

 Not Leicesteer!
The Axe & Squae is in a village called Countesthorpe, around 6 miles south of Leicester, not in the city of Leicester itself

 Excellent Evening
I visited the Foxhunter for the first time on 7th December with my friend and our daughters for a Christmas get-together. Everything was superb but I especially want to say how lovely all the staff were, the barman, the front of house guy, the waitress and the chef. It makes such a difference to an evening. Well done.

I took my lady to the Oak the other night and my eyes came out on stalks when the gorgeous decor met them on arrival. They had to get on the mobile to two 6 foot 4 doormen who arrived posthaste in a beat up Escourt MK III to eject me at the end of the night because the food was so mindbending I never wanted to go home. I was slavering like a junkyard dog just looking at the menu.

 enjoyable, well priced, lovely
we go to the Foxhunter at least once a week sometimes more often depending on the cash flow...yes I have to agree that the meat is often more warm then hot but the rest of the food has always been hot and plentiful, also at the price they charge I for one am not complaining!
We have never had to wait for a table or had to wait to long for our food either... all in all our favourite place for food and I'd recommend it to anyone

I really like the copt oak. I have been going since i was a baby and the staff are really friendly. Although, you do get a bit cramped and you do get extrememly hot. They should put more fans in there and space the tables out more.

 Don't go here!!!
I can't believe that someone has got rid of all the bad reviews about this pub and come up with these laughable ones. I think if you had a decent meal here you would faint!! That is if you can get past the glass and avoid food poisoning.

Copt Oak Fan
I went there last week and i saw Dennis Rodman pull up in his lamberguini and her said to me I always go to the Copt Oak but i don't want people to know! I was like Good Grascious! I can't tell anyone. I had the ribs last week and i fainted because the food was so outstanding. I literally fainted i am not having a larf. Its true. I would reccomend everyone but not Dennis Rodman or Big Brother fans as he might be there! Good on ya den!

Frizzy-haired waitress (I think she may be the licensee's wife) is far too snotty.
By contrast, her staff are so courteous!

Great Pub, Nice Atmosphere, Great Beer
The Harrow Inn has to be one of my favourite pubs. From the welcome, the friendly staff, or the great beer and wine it has to rank amoungst the best in this country certainly.

The food is very good too, and reasonably priced, and they have a nice selection of wines.

Moreover, they even have free wifi internet access. Well done keep up the good work!

When Andrew WK wrote his spine-tingling classic hits 'Party Hard' and the unforgettable 'We Want Fun', he not only had me in mind, but quite clearly the Durham Ox in Leicester! I was known as the Ambassador of Fun among my Norwich massive, but now, and even though it pains me to say it, I think that title lies with the Landlord of the Ox.

One night i was just LOAFING around the house, because i had no DOUGH, so my CRUSTy mate Nickeh Ward brought me to the Ox for some YEAST based drinks! What a place, full of top-notch CRUMPET that i wouldn't mind taking my FRENCH STICK to!

I am bereft with grief and disappointment. The Durham Ox in my view has lost its title as BEST GAY BAR 2004. It has become a hot bed of love for those breeders and I just dont like it. Gone are the free tubes of lube with every 'sex on the beach' cocktail and the annual Sing and dance like STEPS competition has been cancelled due to the vigorous dance moves of the contestants being mistaken for threats of violence towards the heteros. Don't they know a double back slide with air punch to the front when they see one? I am deeply saddened at the retirement of my size 43 leotards.

 live, love, laugh!
I recently got married to my long-term lover from Gilbert Murray Halls,Trogg, and we had our reception at the Durham Ox. They laid on a fantastic spread! We were treated to a sumptuous 3 course meal of Turkey a la king to start, Cannelloni Verde as the main course, and Vienetta or a cornetto for dessert. They even threw in free Lambrusco Rosso for all two tables! Not even the arrival of my old flame ellen could have spoiled this magical day! Thank you Durahm Ox!

My partner and I celebrated our civil ceremony at the Durham Ox recently. The buffet was excellent with more cheese and pineapple than I could eat and a variety of sweets. My partner even commented on how much fudge we packed in that night! I will definitely be frequenting this tavern again xx ps. Jabba-love you sweetie

 tinned meat and romance
I didn't think anything could distract me from my love of tinned meat until I went to this joint! I normally sit on granby street opening corned beef with a key on a friday night until I discovered the variety of 'beefy' men at the Ox.I am now the proud lover of three men I met there: Dev, Big Pete and Big Ol Chilli. OXtastic!

I won the talent show at the Ox last may with my awesome Les Dennis routine-i pretty much stole the show! However, when I asked for a shot of worcester sauce to help with my stage fright, all they had was Soy Sauce-any showbiz entertainer knows that undiluted orange squash and worcester sauce are the only cures for stage fright! Aside from that, it is a quality establishment, and I have had many a rip-roaring night there!!

The Durham Ox is the place where all your dreams come true. I thought i found true love at the Ox last week...I couldn't resist this great hunk of spunk, who was throwing out Axel Rose moves on the dancefloor to the sounds of David Essex and Shakin' Stevens. We spent the whole night drinking advocat and Black Tower and talking about how Byker Grove hasn't been the same since Geoff died. But I haven't heard from him since. Nicholas Winterton, if you read this, call me...please!

What an outstanding establishment! Got so blotto on the vintage sherrys that I didn't even have the chance to sample the fine wines and pickled eggs selection! p.s. Pat, why haven't you called me, we had such a great night.

I always had an inkling I was a hit with the ladies while I was at Leicester Uni, but never in my wildest dreams could i have ever imagined to what extent! My night at the ox last saturday confirmed all my notions. I have never see such a bevvy of classy, modern beauties...the majority of which I now have the numbers of !! Thats right, Pat is back in town! Rock on durham ox!!!

I haven't had so much fun since watching my hero Val Kilmer in Willow. Not since The Spread Eagle has Leicester had such a sexy environment to dance the night away to Foreigner, Mike and the Mechanics and Fragma. This pub contains the highest class of women this side of Eyres Monsell. Buena Vista mi amore.

Im not really one to go out. At weekends, I mostly enjoy sitting in, watching my Hale and Pace box sets back-to-back. But one night, my best mate jane persuaded me to go to what she described as 'the mother of all bars'! And I am so glad she did! The night I spent at the 'Ox' has made me reevaluate my life. I haven't watched a single episode of Hale and Pace for nearly three weeks now, because i spend all my free time dancing the night away at the 'Ox' to the sounds of Whigfield and Haddaway. I am living the dream!

What can i say about the Durham Ox? I had the best night of my life night there! Usually I go to The Hind or The Wyvern,or just out and about in Glen Parva, but the 'Ox' is definitely my new haunt! They have a HUGE variety of drinks, and on friday nights there is a wicked DJ, who plays up-to-the-minute music, like Peter Andre and Steps.

 What a dump!!!!!
This place is a small pub with a nice atmosphere...if you go in on a monday at least. Any other day and there are trouble makers, vandals and just plain miscrients. The beer from here has no bubbles and is ridiculously over-priced. I most definatly do not recommend this pub.

 needs improving and cleaning
my visit to foxhunter leicester, friday 22/04/05 time 18:30. no waiting for table. but queued for 25 minutes waiting for veg. new potateos big enough for baking. stuffing balls only fit for door stops or cannon fodder. the chef very poor at carving meat which was cold due to the waiting. the floor next to the food counter was covered in food which had fallen of plates, no attempt was made to clean up the mess. all in all a very poor meal and a evening out. the foxhunter needs a good clean and it makes you wonder why they have dim lighting?

 Best Indian Food in Leicester
Fantastic food and atmosphere 'Paddy' the landlord is a star. The best 'Indian' food money can buy, the mixed sizzler starter is mouthwatering, so tasty and the quality of the meat is second to none. Lal Toofan ice cold, what more do you want and its not at restaurant prices! eat yourself daft for about 12. Don't try and 'walk in' on a Thursday Friday Saturday you won't get a seat, try it out early in the week. You'll be back and back and back again beleive me it's that good.
