went here for lovely meal but instead recieved poor service, with the landlady being very rude and arogant, i thought the food was going to be lovely but instead i recieved what was meant to be homemade yorkshire puddings but recieved frozen ones, as i had to send them back as they were still partly frozen, the gravy was disgusting and lumpy, wouldnt even feed the meal to my dog. And for the service, not one smile, or any manners from the staff, i also had to complain about the cutlery as this wasnt very clean, i personally wouldnt call this a restuarant, i would call it grubby pub food, i would strongly advise anyone who would like a nice evening out not to go here as it will be spoilt with poor service and food.

 Never again!
When we arrived, on a Tuesday, the place was busy but most people seemed to be finishing their meals. 30mins after our order was taken the waitress informed us that it had gone missing. Against our better judgement, we re-ordered (having been assured that our meal would be given priority due to the mix-up). Another half-an hour went by with no sign of food or explanation. The place was now almost empty. Finally told our meal was being plated up but after another 10mins we gave up and left. This is the 2nd time we have waited over an hour and then had to leave without eating. There won't be a third time!!!!

 Crap food, appalling service
Went to Chiltern Hundreds on the evening of Sunday 11th April. Four adults and two children. Ordered meals at 8pm Food arrived at 8.50pm. My Chicken salad had a piece of chicken so tough I couldn't cut it. It also had 24 olives in a SALAD and NO LETTUCE!!! My husband's hot chicken meal was virtually inedible. The kids quite liked their food, but you can't really mess up chips! Definately won't be going there again. Rubbish food and dreadful service..

 Really bad meal
This place has gone from good to absolutely awful. Fish that was off, cremated burgers, ice cold read wine - not to mention a wait of over an hour.

We used to go there quite frequently but never again

It was ONCE a great pub
We have been customers of the Chiltern Hundreds for years and recently popped in for a spot of lunch, without realising the pub had changed hands, and you can tell!
The pub wasn't even half full and when ordering a simple jacket potato and prawn sandwich with a side of chips we were advised it was a 45 minute wait, we should have realised at this point that things weren't as they use to be.
During the next hour (not 45 minutes!) we saw 4 meals go back from different parties, 3 of them meat pies that had no meat in them, just pastry on top of a pot! We also saw to meals being put on a table where there was nobody sitting and rather than question the table number that had been given they were just left there. It wasn't until the couple complained about their wait that they were told oh they are over there, by then the meals were cold. Unsurprisngly the couple said they hadn't paid for the meal yet and weren't going to pay for them and they left hungry!
When our meals did arrive the jacket potato was tiny (more like a roast potato) and the chips had been cooked in fat that wasn't hot enough and they were so oily they were inedible. By now we couldn't be bothered to complain, we just wanted to leave.
It's a real shame, the Chiltern Hundreds was a lovely pub that served great food with a nice extensive specials selection (the specials we saw were very limited).
We won't be going back!

 Slow Service and Rude Management
Myself and my partners live locally and have visited the Chiltern Hundreds for many years. However, the service has deteriorated significantly since the new management has arrived. We had to wait 90 minutes for only two main meals. The manager was rude and unapologetic. Despite giving out 2-for-1 vouchers in Dec for use in Jan, they clearly were unprepared given that many meals had ran out and they were under-staffed. Surely these are the basics! The management has no understanding of customer service and has lost a previously loyal customer. PLEASE SPIRIT GROUP - get rid of this guy before yoru reputation is damaged any more.

 COMPLAINT REGARDING FOOD AND SERVICE
We went to the Chiltern Hundreds lunch on 27th December 2008. There were 14 of us in total, 3 groups of 4 and a group of 2. All food was ordered seperately.
We waited 50 minutes for food to be served and this included sandwiches and baguettes. When i asked the question of why it had taken so long they replied that it was becuase they wanted to serve the food together as we were a large party. This we didnt request but we thought was a good reason.
When the food arrived that certainly wasnt the case. One of the party hadnt even got there food whilst another had finished. I ordered a prawn sandwich with no butter because i have a dairy allergy. The first time it came out the bread was like toast and the sauce was dry because it had been left under a heater, It was sent back and then another came out some 15 minutes later and the bread was buttered. On the third attempt it was bought back out but the filling was scraped into fresh bread with lumps of butter mixed in with the prawns. This could have made me very ill if i had eaten it. My husband ordered a chicken, bacon and mayo baguette. On the first occasions again it came out and the baguette was rock hard and the mayo looked like toasted cheese as it was left under a heater. On the second occasion it was bought out and again the baguette was rock hard, i dont think they even chnaged it because the mayo again was like toasted cheese. He sent it back again and on the third occasion they replaced the baguette and put the same filling in again with dryed and cold chicken and bacon and what looked like toasted dry cheese and not mayo. I called a member of staff over and told them to take it back and i wanted a refund. There was no apologies made. The female heavily pregnant member of staff came over to the table and just put the money on the side and didnt apologise or even say there is your refund.
I called for the Manager who apparently was upstairs asleep. He came down after about 15 minutes looking like he has just woken and my husband and i explained the situation. He asked us what we wanted him to do about it. He said well at least you have had a refund. We told him that we would leave it with him as he is the Manager and he should decide what he felt the appropriate course of action should be. He then asked us to write down our address and he would write to us. It is now 7th January 2009 and we havent heard anything from him. I am very disgusted with the service we had from this pub and would certainly not recommend anyone to eat there. Service and food is appalling.

Very poor customer service. Rude and aggressive.
We had booked for a party of 7 for New Year's Eve. The sorbet was brought out at the same time as the starter and then there was a mix up on one of the mains orders. Instead of trying to resolve it helpfully, the manager singled me out and threw the menu at us stating that he was right! A member of our party complained about the way he had spoken to me and from that point on the service was extremely slow. One member of our group did not receive their dessert and we had to ask for the cheese and coffee to be served and our plates cleared. When we came to pay, there were a large number of drinks on the bill that we had not ordered. I would not recommend this pub at all.

Long wait for food, rude & aggressive manager.
Our evening was ruined by a very rude & aggressive manager who demanded that we move from our table so he could accomodate a party of 7 who had not booked. We were told to leave or fight it out with the large party, as we are both in our 60s we opted to leave. Now we are being charged on our credit card for food & drink we did not have. Complaints to the Spirit Group (3 times) have produced no reply.

 Cracking - no other word
Alright, so I might be biased because it's 30 seconds from my front door, but this is simply the best pub in the area. It defines what a pub should be. Friendly and homely, live sport, cracking beer (even my dad likes it and he's not easily pleased) and great fun in the evenings. Pay it a visit, you won't be disappointed.

We Danced, We Sung, We Laughed.
Only went there as a start off point for a pub crawl and never left. The music was so good we were dancing one minute and singing at the top of our voices the next. The bar staff joined in too which makes a change from the miserable bastards who serve you drinks in other bars. Most of them are quite attractive too. We walked home with a few 'new friends' singing Puff The Magic Dragon (thanks to Last of the Mohicans DJ). Great club where everyone we met was really nice and friendly EVEN THE BOUNCERS. Loved it.

Strawberry Moons I am definitely going back for more, from the sexy

One of the Best, and I mean BEST!!
I've been going to Strawberry Moons for a few years and everywhere else seems dull in comparison. The doorstaff are friendly (which is refreshing in itself!) the barstaff are mad and jump up on the bar to dance and they do all the chucking bottles about (like in the Tom Cruise film Cocktail) Their cocktails are superb and they have just increased their list. My advice is if it's not on the list ask! Or tell the bartender what you like to drink and they will mix a cocktail to suit your tastes. Their DJ's are excellent playing a wide range of music. You can be dancing one minute and singing the next, your never standing around feeling bored. I really can't praise this bar enough, if it wasn't for Strawberry Moons I'd spend much more weekend nights at home watching the telly. The only bad thing about Strawberry moons is - If you don't get down there early you will more than likely have to que and sometimes the que is huge. Go there! you won't regret it.

 Funpub
A theme pub with loads of atmosphere. Friday and Saturday nights they are packed to the rafters and the fun-loving staff entertain the masses with dances on a small stage area. This is an excellent pub, where the landlord keeps his beer well (Shepard Neame), a good nosebag at a reasonable price, AND there is no jukebox, slot machines or games tables.
