 great value & welcoming :-)
Lunch at the Amazon and Tiger was an unexpected surprise. The no-nonsense tasty Sunday roast was excellent value, and sticky puddings hit the spot. We're a group of regular walkers and found this a refreshing change from overpriced gastropubs. And like cricket or not, it's a wonderful spectacle to have the game played right outside the back garden.

 child & pet friendly
The Amazon and Tiger is a lovely little pub that sells traditional ales and serves lovely food. Children and pets are welcome, all adding to a wonderful country experience, i found the staff to be attentive and polite, all in all a nice place to go.

Darnley Arms Cobham is a traditional village pub
This pub is situated in the middle of Cobham between two other pubs but The Darnley Arms is the best pub in my view. Hope it does well for the new owner, especially in the current difficult climate that is seeing many pubs go out of business every week because of the high taxes the Government are putting on beer.

A pub with potential and great beer
A traditional local village pub which has been allowed to fester slightly. There's potential charm here, but it's lost under poor quality and ill advised decoration. It's in need of some TLC and a firm guiding hand. The outside area could be a decent beer garden, but is currently mostly made over to a car park. Has a brand new owner and landlord who seems willing to make something of the place. He has brought in Dark Star Hophead and Harveys Best beers, which are served in good condition, and has plans to improve the menu and the decoration. I would like to see the place improve as the owner is a genuinely nice person, and we have plans to come back and see how the place develops.

 Lunch with a greyhound
My parents and I went there with our beautiful greyhound - we had just been up the road to source a prospective playmate from Croftview Greyhound Rehoming Kennels. We needed some lunch and this pub was recommended to us. They made us and our greyhound very welcome indeed and we had a nice lunch in the bar. The ale was good to (according to Dad who's very fussy about these things!).

Brilliant pub, which although it has lots of regulars, makes newcomers feel welcome. Give this pub a chance, and you'll end up having a great night. particularly a monday which is quiz night!

Mary Robinson
the Old Prince of Orange, Gravesend
In 1871 Census the brother of my great great grandmother, a Thomas Bruin born 1823, with wife Mary, is described as the Licensed Victualler of the Old Prince of Orange in Gravesend. In 1851 his mother Mary Bruin was an Inn Keeper at 112 St Johns Street near CharterHouse Sq. in London and Thomas lived with her.

In 1866 Thomas first wife Harriet died in Gravesend. He remarried a Mary Ann Bennett in 1867. Perhaps it can be suggested that Thomas became Licensed Victualler in the mid 1860's

Thomas died in Lambeth 1880.

 Poor service
If you want a beer in here you will have to wait for the locals to be served first. The fact that you have been waiting longer than them and have a 20 note in your hand will go unnoticed by the staff. They are too busy chatting with the regulars.

Booked the restaurant for a large party, about 30 of us. The service was very good, the staff were very friendly and the food was great. As it was a party booking, we were given a set menu with about 3 choices so I didn't actually see the normal menu but I would visit again.

 re - card games comment
as to the previous comment
we are not encouraging card games/gambling
we were simply playing fun card games with our local customers
which is something they like to do often which in our opnion is part of our commitment to our customers . which then keeps our customers happy and shows we are takind an interest in them!!!!
as for the pub its self after 6 years of it being run badly we have finally we think turnt a corner and its very much improved!!!!

 worst pub ever
This pub has a long way to go to meet current health and safety legislation.

There is no disabled access or toilets even though advertised, portions are extremely small, the cleaning of tables in the restaurant did not even change or lift plate and serviette from previous customer just sprayed round, glasses carried under arm pit . need i go on
