 Review
Was out for a drive with the family and we came across The Polton Inn, Lots of parking and very clean. Has a great out door decking area which will be great in the summer. We had the 2 main meals for only 9.00 and or wee boy eat for free. Service was a wee bit slow but nothing to worry about. Food came with a smile and checked if we wanted any more drink and later did a check back on us. All in food and drink cost us 19.15.....with be back

The Polton Inn used to be one of the best pubs in Bonnyrigg now iit is the worst. The new manager hasn't got a clue. He should have stuck to cooking. The pub owners need to take a good look and get rid of the rubbish ie manager.

 No Nonsense pub
Known now as The Roadhouse, maybe once had a bad name but not anymore, safe, friendly bar for quiet drink or to listen to bands on sat nights or listen and join in with folk club on Tuesday nights. No nonsense tolerated and this pub does not serve pub watch or underagers

 Excellent pub, Better staff.
Arrived at the Justinlees Inn for lunch on Sunday (2/10/11) and was greeted by a friendly Barman. We were promptly served and allowed to sit where we liked. The Barman took our order and the wait wasn't long for the food. The food itself was decent and the service second to none. The Barman (and it seems also waiter) was doing everything alone bar cooking the food and despite it being a busy lunch time seemed to be taking things in his stride(and according to my wife- charming!). Although the place seems understaffed, considering there was a football game on, i will be returning with the rest of my family and hope to experience the same service. Thank You The Justinlees!!

 Dinner
Went for dinner at the just last weekend.. A would have been better having a few pints and grabbing a chippy on the way up the road! The food smelt like my dogs breath after he had licked his arse and tasted like my mother in-laws cooking - terrible! Not great! Pint and a chippy if your hitting the just!

 good pub
the polton inn is a good pub. The bar is hanging off the wall, theres holes are in the roof, the walls are constantly damp. The bar staff are a bunch of misreable ugly looking c*nts and the waiting service is abosolutely sh*te. If its any consolation the recent owners are good people but the woman needs to learn how to smile. :D!! aprt from that i would highly recommend the polton inn.

 greatest pub
The Polton Inn is the greatest pub ever. I also work there and it is great pay. It has a large screen to play the lastest footie games and also has a restaurant and the food is brilliant. The Locals are friendly and have a great sense of humour.

William Brown (Wullie)
 Entertainer
I am a Guitarist /singer/entertainer.
I dont blow my own trumpet, but I can provide up to 2 to 3 hours of older foot-tapping music. I play mostly 70's music, 60's music and some stuff from the fifties. I probably go down well with the 50's plus age bracket. I play electric guitar and use a drum machine. I am looking for Friday night or Saturday night bookings in social welfare clubs. I dont do modern stuff cos it's a bit difficult to get my head round the new sound. I dont do requests either. If its in my folder, I will do it. Blues is my speciality but I do rock and roll and golden oldies. Thats it. if this interests you, then send me an email. Wullie.

the calderwood is one of the worst nights out i have ever had! i am 49 years old man for niddrie so as you would imagine ive been in some rough places.in the calderwood i feared for my life (when the food was served).and im not sure but i think that the bar man was on bail.or atleast wearing a tag.the place is a bear pit, smack bang in the middle of a hell hole.the calderwood and its surroundings should be fenced of from the rest of society.a danger to anyone who dose not own a gun !!!!!!!!!

Hats off to kenny who used to be the barman for keeping us pretty much whole cut every time we went in for a night out.
May the pub raise from the ashes onc more as time goes on.

 Nice pub - bit expensive
I work just down the road from this pub, and so visit relatively frequently. Service has always been excellent - friendly, efficient, and they even know how to pour a decent pint. The only problem I have is that their hot food is too expensive, otherwise I'd probably visit more often, and for more than just a pint. Might explain why it's usually empty at lunchtime, too.

 Very enjoyable!
My husband and I visited with our 2 year old Son and the waiter could not be nicer. He was very friendly and his banter was funny. Menu was pretty basic but really nice and worth the money. The kids menu was traditional but chef was willing to adapt for my Son's dietry needs too! Very enjoyable, I would surely return, infact organised a meal for Friday coming with the girls.

Mr David Summers
 Totally Disgusted.
We visited the Bridge Inn, Ratho today for lunch. We had to wait an hour or so before ordering food as my son and grand-daughter were cycling out from Edinburgh to join us and we wished a coffee whilst we waited. No one came to take an order or explained it had to be ordered at the bar. An elderly couple next to us had waited longer than us and eventually had to ask for our help. When my daughter approached a member of staff to ask for a coffee the female was downright rude and very unhelpful. We decided on my son's arrival not to eat lunch at the hotel, due to the complete lack of service we had received. My daugher explained to the owner the reasons we did not now want to eat there and was met with a rude response from him also, saying he thought she was on a sponsored walk the amount of times she had walked through the hotel (looking for a member of staff).
I have never experienced such poor customer service before and feel totally disgusted by it.

The Polton Inn is like a home from home. I stay in Kirriemuir now and don't get to visit very often but when I do what a welcome!! The only thing I would change is I think they should put Laphroig on tap! Just to save John throwing out the bootle! John and Lorraine are excellent mine hosts as are all the staff

A lot of rubbish! The Vic is still the best pub in the area. Great food, free pool, good beer, including guest ales (this month features the Inveralmond brewery). Every pub has it's idiots but there is always a great atmosphere here & I wouldn't go anywhere else!  warm welcome
I have been to the club many a time and usually drive through from Airdrie with my friends. I have found the people to be very nice and give you a warm welcome whenever we come through. I enjoy listening to the band as they play my kind of music.

 Good all round boozer
The new bossman, Tam, has put a lot of effort into refurbishing the Tryst. He recently starting selling very savoury bacon rolls, curries and other foods.
Decent drink prices and, although quiet at times, there's a good kareoke on Thursday and Saturday nights.
Also, free pool for a few hours on Saturday.

 Immense
The Polton Inn is the greatest pub ever. I also work there and it is great pay. It has a large screen to play the lastest footie games and also has a restaurant and the food is brilliant. The Locals are friendly and have a great sense of humour.
