The same down at heal people in a down market pub. It looks as if the place had not been cleaned in a year. The staff are non existant. You cannot get to see any managers, although having looked at the mess of the place I would be surprised if there were any managers at all! I would avoid this place like the plague/

Brian McNulty Get some staff who enjoy their job.
This place is the absolute pit's. On my first visit there were 7 people in the public bar and I waited almost 10 minutes before I saw a member of staff. i'll be with you in a minute he said. He then headed off in the direction he had come. Another 5 minutes before he appeared again and he served someone who had just walked in. Eventually I got a pint of lager which was decent. In the background there were 2 Tv's blaring, both on different channels, and also music from playing from the stereo system. On looking around the bar it became obvious that no one had taken responsibility for removing empty glasses or cleaning the ashtrays, although most of the smokers end products were lying or ground into the carpet. My only visit to the toilets was my last. I waded through a mixture of water/urine on the tiled floor to an overflowing urinal. On leaving the bathroom I turned left and headed out the main door leaving my unfinished lager at the still staffless bar. I won't be back.

Dennis Wheatley It saddens me but avoid
I have been a regular in the Toby for 15 years and I can only say that the place is deteriorating rapidly. The standard of staff they recruit is exceptionally poor, the service is totally non-existent and the management are seen as often as Lord Lucan. It is my belief that the owners are intentionally running the place down to attract further investment from the parent company. If you enjoy a decent pint but are willing to wait 10 to 15 minutes whilst the one member of staff is serving tables in the lounge bar then this is the place for you. The bar is, in the main, filthy. The gents toilet has a hole in the wall which has been covered by a piece of cardboard for the last 7 weeks stating temporary repair
