| Bad service, long waits, unfriendly staff, whole orders. Then had to wait 40 mins for 2 kids puddings after asking 4 times for 2 very impatient toddlers. The food was tasteless and poor quality. Never ever will I visit this dive again, people work hard for their money and it is disgraceful that this place is allowed to stay open .... | ||

| Look let's get this straight am 25 years old and have recently split from my boyfriend, Richey has been there for me when no one else not even my own father cared. to be honest i dont think i would still be alive to day if it wasnt for Richey. Richey is one of the most hardworking caring charismatic man i know. Richey's main problem is he doesnt delagate and trys to take on too much work. he is slowley turning the pub around and he is listining and trying to answer some of the complaints. but mark my worda if anyone can turn this pub around then its Rich . a lot of the citicism aimed at Richey is because a certain young girl developed a crush on him ,Richey being the gentleman he is let the girl down gently since then her and her gang of little bitches have spread lies about Rich and the pub. He is a good man who doesnt deserve this GROW UP | ||

Dissapointed mother Half term
| Father like figure to all the under 18s employed. And also dont be so niave your boss will have a company phone. if you actually read the comments you will see that no 'toilet roll' is mentioned! So unprofessional. the point has just been proven that it is staff reviewing the pub. I used to bring my children to this pub, until my youngest tripped in the ball pond and banged his head on a bar in the equipment and then i was told there was no ice pack or ice for that matter! All I here is negative comments about the place which i find a great shame as it used to be a nice place. the reason i have been directed here to this site is because i thought i would check out reviews for the wacky to see if it has improved any, before half term next week. Obviously not i will stay away. and with attitudes of the staff from below comments i think many others will too. In the current climate I think it is very brave to be telling customers they are not welcome. The other site I was directed to from google was a facebook page where I seen a plee for outdoor equipment. The amount of money that people pay in there, surely the pub can afford to buy some of their own. | ||

| Waited an hour for a meal - wish I'd left! My salad had been left under a heat lamp for god knows how long, the lettuce was brown, the beef was like shoe leather and this was all after I'd had to remind them they still hadn't fed us! The tables were disgusting and we had to clean them with a baby wipe before we sat down. You'd expect them to have been busy and rushed off there feet? No! Two other tables to contend with - utter crap! | ||

Gone right down hill. Staff seemed uninterested too busy sorting nights out. wouldnt eat in there again after bad experienced in past with undercooked food and dirty plates. plus the state with the state of the toilets, which customers see i would dread to think what the kitchen was like. I would reccomend that people avoid this place. Especially if you have children.

Wendy Jones. would not go back.
| Gave this place a try before christmas and it seemed pretty bad so vouched never to go back. Then on sunday became stuck with distant relations turning up for dinner. rang round a few places but everywhere had long waits on for food so ended up with no choice but to ring this place. The wait was not as long as others so decided to give a second chance. Place was just the same, if not worse as the time before. Did not recognise any of the staff so presuming they are all new and they all seemed rude and unaware of any customer service skills! At least last time the staff did seem to actually care for our custom!! Food was very unsatisfying and actually had to drive to mcdonalds upon leaving just to feed the kids!! Funny smell in the kids area which also seems poorly run!! Felt embarrassed for the pub/company as well as for myself for taking family. Learnt my lesson now and will not be returning. | ||

Chris Shocking Service, 40 minutes for a starter?
| Me and my friend visit this pub quite often and over christmas we decided to visit this pub 5 times (we normally enjoy the food). out of the 5 times we had 2 good experiances and they were on New years Eve and Christmas Eve. We had a meal yesterday but the pub wasnt full. The food took 40 minutes to reach us for a 'starter' and then proceeded to wait an hour until we gave up. There was a party on in the wacky warehouse and appears this was given priority. We ended up walking out and asking for a refund which many other people did as well. Sadly its hit and miss with this place and we've had food turn up without bits to it only to request this missing bits later. The only saving grace was a lad called Robbie who cooks in the bad who on one occasion was working as 'front manager' who went into the back to re-cook our meal!. Its a real shame really they need to up their game as sadly I dontt hink we'll Visit again due to the poor experiance's over the last 2 weeks. £150 worth of trade! yes it was a one off!. | ||

| We visited your pub on 4th December 2011. The staff were attentive, polite and well trained throughout our stay. The restaurant was clean and in good order. The bar staff advised us that it was a better deal to have a bottle of wine rather than buy two glasses which is always a good start. The starters were delivered quickly and were of a high quality. The carvery meal was excellent with a wide variety of meats and sides on offer. We did not have to wait for any of the sides or for the meat to be carved. All the food was hot. The gravy in the soup toureen is a good idea. We finished off with dessert and coffee. The staff were attentive but not intrusive. A sure sign of good training. The staff take pride in their work and the pub has come on in leaps and bounds since our last visit, great improvement to that of our last experience - WELL DONE. We will certainly be coming again and recommending it to our friends. | ||

| I had meal here over the weekend. Carvery queue was large and dont get much meat on it. Bar and carvery lines are right next to each other...Surely there is a better way of doing this. blonde girl cleared the table and had red, puffy eyes - obviously been crying.Probably had a run in with the manager. Overall the service was poor and organisation needs looking into. Last time I went was back in July and seems like the place has gone very much downhill. would not reccommend the place. We did ask to speak to manager but was told he was preoccupied elsewhere (on a saturday dinner time!!). Read past comments and seen manager has wrote a few times asking people to contact him. Maybe if he was there when the problems were happening then he would find out what was going wrong. Also after last comment, dont think I would want to contact him. Left this comment to warn others of my experience not to complain to pub. | ||

| Whilst customers, well myself, certainly recognise that managers have an extremely difficult and demanding job, and have to be 100% commited to their career it is unfortunate that duty managers an staff do not feel the same way. They obviously do not have the dedication it takes to make customers feel welcome and looked after as they should. As a manager myself I am fully aware that I am only as good as the staff who I manage, unfortunately the staff here are lacking in supervision and enthusiasm. Whilst I understand keeping your team motivated is not always easy it is an important part of a managers role, if the staff involved were happier in their work this would reflect in the service given. Yes your manager should be able to rely on his deputy to oversee and manage the shifts whilst he is not there, sadly it seems he cannot. Sharon, it is commendable that you defend your team in this way, however maybe you should send in a couple of friends as mystery diners, on a few occasions to get an accurate account of what is lacking before you say that comments may not be accurate/true however you wish to put it. | ||

Sharon Ward Orchid Group
| My name is Sharon Ward and I am the Area Manager for the Cherry Orchard on the Wirral. Our company is called Orchid Pubs and Dining. We are a small, yet talented group of people who delight in being named by the Sunday Times as the 5th Best Company to work for in the UK. We have around 300 pub and restaurant businesses scattered across our fair country. Richie is a new, yet highly experienced manager who has been in the driving seat at the Cherry Orchard since August 2011. I am delighted with his performance, and that of our new team in managing the Cherry Orchard. They are completely committed to ensuring that service, food and overall experience is everything you could, and should, expect when spending your hard earned cash! I am aware there were issues in the past that needed addressing, and we could have done better to meet and exceed our customers’ requirements. It is my job to ensure that the very best people are running our pubs, and yet I know this may not have always been true in the past. Part of the journey of getting where we want to be is reflecting on where we have been in the past. On that basis your feedback, if genuine, is of great importance to us and we really want to hear more about how you felt about going to the Cherry Orchard. There are many different ways to speak with us at Orchid and we value everyones’ feedback. Indeed if you have any issues, Richie, I, or a member of our head office team, are keen to find out more and address your concerns. Without our customers we are nothing and without our Team, we are no-one. Without your feedback, we can’t move forward, so instead of leaving comments on this site, please feel free to contact us in the following ways. How does the offer of a drink compensate for myself spending over £40 on what looked and tasted like hospital food, actually that is being unfair to hospital food. If you do venture into here please be sure not to complain as you are treated like you have done something wrong. | ||

| After a long day at work I decided to treat the family to a meal out, my first mistake was choosing this place. What an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Arrived an was greatest by Sean I think he said his name was, smiled nicely told us to find a table, most of which were dirty, finally gets someone to clean a table for 6 an orders drinks, once again dirty glasses, flat pint. They did swap the pint but still flat hmmm. Orders starters an. Mains costing a fair bit which all came out together. The staff took the mains back an then left them under the lights ap when the meals. came back our staff were no longer medium but shoe leather and salad had wilted and gone brown. I spoke to Sean to be offered a drink, I said I didn't want a flat beer thank you to which I was told he couldn't help then. What an insult, who actually puts these people in to manage their business. I only went back because the awful managers had gone back to Liverpool, seems to be replaced by someone equally useless. staff too busy on phones and chatting to clean up, food an absolute joke and a manager 'supposedly' who looks like he has just fell out of school and can't be bothered. What a way to run a successful business. Orchid pubs must be over the moon with you all. AVOID like the plague | ||

| I recently visited The Cherry Orchard with my family, after strong reccomendation from a couple of friends. Entered the pub to be warmly greeted by a pleasant barman, and told to take a seat where i would like, as the pub wasn't too busy. I ordered my food and drink from the bar, for it to be delivered to my table very efficiently with great presentation. The meals were really enjoyable and we chose to take up the waiters offer on having a dessert, which again was equally as nice. We finished off our meals and enjoyed an hour in the Funhouse attached to the pub! turned out to be a good day out! | ||

| If you are after a nice family meal...DO NOT GO TO THE CHERRY ORCHARD. over priced, dirty tables, food all over the floor, food cold and well not very apetising at all. manager just a kid and was very rude. If he doesnt want to be told the truth about the 'food' then he should not come over to ask if everything ok with the food! Will not be returning anytime soon. | ||

| Hadn't been here for a while due to bad experiences in past and well what can I say... the place has not changed. Carvery chef didnt seem to know what he was doing and was very rude. Overheard what I presume was the manager arguing with unhappy customer. Tables were dirty as were the loos and food was cold. Drinks really over priced and bar man trying to plub some card scheme and would not take no for an answer ( was asked at bar, by carvery and then again at table). Place needs closing down. | ||

| Went for Sunday dinner with family, granted the pub was a little busy, but don't see this as an excuse for rude staff. Man on the bar seemed to be very abrupt and rude. I didnt get given a carvery ticket and then the chef said he could not serve me, despite me queing for 15 minutes. Went back to the bar to ask for ticket and was ignored whilst a conversation was going on with the bar staff and then eventually got given the ticket and was told i would have to que up again. No one came to check our food was ok, probably due to the noticable lack of staff in the restaurant ( I think I seen more on the bar then I did giving food out) . If they had we would have told them it was cold as this was the case. Would not reccommend this pub. | ||

Niel and Moreen Phillips Rude management and cold food.
| I don't normally leave reviews for places but feel I need to this time. The place is a shambles! The food was cold and drinks given in dirty glasses. Told the barman that the glasses were dirty and he swopped them no problem, but into dirtier glasses! Toilets were dirty with no loo roll, told the manager who was very rude and told me to use the disabled, which was locked. Got the carvery which was cold and the veg was dry. Only 2 of us eating and place was quiet, yet had to wait over half an hour for desserts, which we had asked for and had obviosly been forgotten about. Was asked by manager if everything was ok, told him our problems and found him very rude and un apoligetic saying that we could of put our meals in the microwave to be warmed up, the glasses he said were not dirty, the soap had dried up !. Would definately advise anyone to avoid this place at all costs. | ||

What a joke! There was two men sitting outside with pints of beer, in the play area but children couldnt eat there!! What's that about!!!! When spoke to the manager was told this was the company rules! Read all the rewiews and not supprised got so many bad ones the place is pathetic and need to getr a grip if they want decent customers. Claire Unhappy Customer
| I would like to make a complaint against a visit I had to the Cherry Orchard today 24/7/11, around 18.00. I came with my husband and five of my children. There were tables available as soon as I walked in. The restaurant was clean and inviting We had hoped to have the carvery, but this was not available and were only informed about this once we had sat down. I then asked the waitress if there was any thing else that was not available off the menu, I was told that every thing else was available. We proceeded to make an order which came to the value of £55.00. As i was placing the order I was told there were no bananas so i changed the children's desired desert bananas sundae to jelly & ice-cream, this wasn't this big of an issue at this time. Just before are food came out an other waitress came out to inform me that there were no onions to go with the mushrooms & onions i had ordered. Her answer to this problem was just to give me extra mushrooms. I started to feel unhappy. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over after waiting 5 minutes. I explain to the manager that i was unhappy that i had asked the waitress if there was any thing unavailable on the menu, which i was assured every thing was available, only when i got to the end of ordering deserts there were no bananas. then just before are food came out i was told there were no onions. When speaking to the manager she was un aware that there were no onions. The manager asked me what she would like to do? she said she would refund me for my meal. Which was a steak to the value of £16.60. The manager brought me the differance of my meal. Then are meals came out. Adults meals served before the chilrens thats when i notice there were no mushrooms on the steak which i had paid for. Then the childrens meals came out. I again had to go and see the manager. I explained there were no mushroom on the plate. I explained that i was really unhappy now, this has spoilt my family time with me children and husband. i sent my meal back untouched. She refunded a total of £18.35 which i think is not good enough. | ||

Vince Fairhurst waste of time and money
| Went last saturday night to have a little suprise party/ carvery for my girlfriend, 6 adults and 4 children - the night started by clearing and then cleaning the tables with baby wipes that my girlfriends daughter brought with her for her youngest, no service to do that - the children ordered from the kids menu and all of their meals came at different times - the adults had the carvery once they finally managed to get some one out to cut the meat ( although there were to helpful girls gossiping down the other end casually saying he'll be out in a min) , the guy disappeared before he had finished and part of the adult party then had to wait for him to return. The minute amount of meat served would have been starvation rations for a fly and now to the veg - powdered mash potato (asda cheap own brand flavour) roasties - some cooked some still hard, carrots the same and appeared to have been sliced by a blind man with a maschette, sprouts weren't too bad but the cabbage looked like it had just been rescued - no other veg availiable and the gravy didn't have enough flavour to kill the taste of the food so far. - amazed to actually get a meal as the bar staff didn't appear to give a toss if they served you or not - to top it off my girlfriends daughters asked the place to look after a suprice chocolate birthday cake and could they bring it out after the meal - after 20 minutes trying to get someone to bring out the cake after the alleged meal it arrived after having being stood in the hot kitchen, couldn't cut it there as it would have collapsed. If you ever want a really bad night then try this place, otherwise a transport cafe would give you a better meal with much better service and a lot cheaper - won't ever return to this place nor will my family or any of our friends that we will tell when they ask how the suprise party went. | ||

Trevor Nearly fell asleep...
| ...after waiting 40 minutes for two meals. It wasn't busy, one other family eating, I ordered fish and chips for my son and myself. After half an hour I asked one of the kitchen staff if they were busy in there. They weren't. Very apologetic and a couple of free drinks were offered and accepted. The meals turned up five minutes later, looked nice, but the 'fish' tasted funny. I asked what it was, the kitchen was asked and I was told it was Pangasius, otherwise known as Vietnamese River Cobbler. This is an extremely cheap, farmed fish funnily enough from Vietnam. This is becoming more common in back street chippys, looks great but doesn't taste good. But it increases profit margins greatly. I got 2 meals for the price of one. Would not have been happy paying £ 10 each, and not very happy at a fiver!! | ||

| Just to point out to Kathryn M, there is no under 2s area in the funhouse at the cherry orchard, there is an area recommended for under 5s. children throwing the balls is not the fault of anyone other than the parents as it is the parents who are to supervise the children whilst playing and not the staff. If you were sat on a party table, there would have been a big board behind you stating the name of the child who's party it was and also there would have been balloons on the back of the chairs. | ||

| Had a really bad meal here. Hair and animal hair in 2 meals, when I complained it was totally surreal, a bit like the Monty Python parrot sketch and Fawlty Towers all mixed into one…I had to stop myself laughing out loud. The cook was aggressive and could not accept that the food had hair in it … she seemed unable to grasp the concept that it was not up to me to find out where the hair came from… would avoid at all costs !!! unless you want to have a laugh and wind up the cook !! | ||

John Family tree enquiry
| Good morning I am researching my family tree and have discovered that an ancestor was licensee at the Pier Bar Eastham Wirral Merseyside that is now The Tap and I think now one of your pubs. His name was George Kendrick Foster and I know he was licensee in 1916 and possibly a couple of years before prior to enlisting in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve during the 1914-1918 war. His wife Jane was also living at The Pier. I think from previous enquiries with Burtonwood, later Marstons, who I thought he had worked for that records are kept of all licensees and hope this is common with ownership of all pubs. I would be grateful if you are able to look into this for me as any records or information of George Foster would be greatly appreciated. From previous research I am aware that when I've made enquires it can be very black and white. When requests like this are made people can be of great help or not there's no in-between. If you've done your own family research you will appreciate any help is welcome and the slightest information can lead to other leads which is how I discovered he was licensee at The Pier. Hope you are able to help. Many thanks John | ||

Susan Priestley Very Disappointing
| Went to the Cherry Orchard today for the first time and it will definately be our last. On arrival you have to find your own table - they were in total disarray. Some tables were empty but filthy and had no chairs. After finding a table, we had to clean it ourselves as none of the staff took notice. I went to the bar to order our meal and there were no staff behind the bar. After about 7 minutes someone appeared who was incredibly unfriendly. There were no utensils on our table so I asked a waitress - who was carrying several sets of cutlery - where I could get some and she told me to help myself at the end of the carvery and rushed off. We moved on to get our carvery and again there was nobody there to serve it. We stood for about 5 minutes before a chef came and then left again as there were no plates available. After a further wait we got our meat cut and helped ourselves to vegetables that were well overcooked. The bowls containing mint sauce etc were either empty or had bits of veg in them. The meal itself was average and certainly not what I was looking forward too. The overall cleanliness of the restuarant was poor. My glass was dirty. Tables around us were left with dirty plates on them. Our desert didn't arrive and when I went to enquire, I was told I'd have to wait. Very very disappointing - would not recommened to anyone. I love a cheap and cheerful restaurant, but this one is talking the micky. I left feeling stressed and very sorry that I'd gone there in the first place. | ||

| My family and I came here for a birthday meal and a table had been pre-booked, on the phone I exlained it was a birthday for my sister. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by friendly staff and were shown to our table that had been decorated with lovely balloons and napkins, as a surprise and free of charge! This was a lovely gesture and made our experience all the better. The food was nice, generous portions and good value being two for one. Manager was especially nice and bar staff were friendly. Customer service was good and they had made a real effort to please us. Lovely time had by all. | ||

Louise Best carvery in Wirral
| Every time I have visited The Cherry Orchard I have had a lovely meal, the service has been to a good standard and the atmosphere has been great. In my opinion the carvery is the best available in Wirral with fresh vegetables and a lovely selection of meat, on one occasion the vegetables looked a bit soggy and browned and after mentioning this to the chef fresh veg was brought out within ten minutes, so we just sat down and waited and a member of staff told us when we could go up. The staff are cheerful and willing to help and have always explained if there was a problem or wait on food. Overall I would highly reccommend this pub and it is great for families as there is a play area attached, however we found last time we went during the day that this opens later on when children finish school, but is open all day during the holidays. | ||

roslyn A Fantastic Pub Which I will Re-Visit
| I recently visited the pub a few weeks ago as mym mum had just come out of a long stay in hospital and i wanted to treat hera. I was made to feel very welcome! The place has a friendly atmosphere and most of the staff are very helpful, they couldnt do enough to help you. My mum (who is 87)and i both had fish and chips with mushy pea's, and i can honeslty say it was one of the nicest plates of food I have had in a long time. My only complaint was one of the barmen, (very slim and orban hair)he didnt seem to care, and looked very miserable. I thought i had said something for him to be rude towards me but i then realised he spoke to all customers like that. I think he lets the pub down. I am going again this week with my husband and i am really looking foward to my fish and chips! Keep up the hardwork. | ||

Not given Complaint | ||
| We went hear for a meal after a funeral. The table was pre-booked, it wasn't ready and nobody had time to serve us although it wasn't busy and was only 12. Only 2 staff and the Manager was upstairs! We pushed our own tables together. After waiting ages we asked for the chef to serve at the buffet as he hadn't appeared, this still took ages. The plates were cold, the food tepid, the ham was ok although very salty, the rest of the meat tastless. The vegetables were soggy, overcooked, probably previous days reheated. As it was only 12 and they only start serving at 12 I would have expected better. As it was after a funeral, it's not really the time you want to start causing a fuss. | ||

| I went the pensby a couple of weeks ago and certainly wouldnt say its as good as everyone is saying here...ok its not as bad as dave says but its ok. I must admit the staff can be quite abrupt and rude...the tall gentle man with his eyebrow peirced and the short lad with blonde hair seemed nice chaps and was polite and seemed to care but as for the short girl and a few others - terrible! i think its been mentioned before in another comment that you will get served at the bar staffs leisure! if they know the people they are serving then they will get served straight away but if you dont know the staff then you are left waiting! this is what has put me off going to the pub!!! the food is alright! puddings are to die for!! lovely!! the sports side has been completley turned around for the better and the lounge needs tidying up and new furniture but i think they r in the process of doing that....if they want to up the opinion on the pub then get rid of the staff and employ some nice, decent, polite staff and staff that know how to pour pints! If i learn that the staff have either been rid of or become miraculously polite then i will bring me and my family back!! im not a moaner, this is just my opinion and how i feel about the pub!!! | ||

| Hi all, firstly Dave are you going to comment further as you seem to have left your comment and vanished!! Show yourself!! We would all love to know who u are?? Secondly, since Arthur, Shane and Alan have taken over this pub it has become alot more friendly and welcoming. I visit the pub regularly now (previously never enterered the place) and as well as the lovely sunday dinners they also do the best breakfasts around at a great price. Having attended the Jamm recently the atmosphere in the pub was really good - all the bar staff are excellent and make you feel welcome. Bank holiday was excellent for families and all those adults who think they are still kids that went on the rides 2 (you know who you are!!). Overall the pub has become one of the best in the area so I encourage everyone to go along and try the food - you won't be disappointed. Arthur and his team also put food on for big events i.e Liverpool v Everton. I also believe they are going to start putting a few bands on in the future. Good luck to the Pensby! | ||

| Hello, firstly I must congratulate Arthur Shane & Alan. They have worked hard to get the Pensby up & running. It's taking shape each week inside & out. I came to live in Pensby in 1976 and have seen over the years many changes, good & bad with the Pensby Pub. Its had its good managers & not so good managers. My late parents from Liverpool, were staying in the Wirral, when it first opened in 1935.Its a lovely building to look at. My husband & I had our wedding reception at the Pensby in 1987,could not fault it with good food, decor & all our guests had a lovely time.Naturally living so close to the Pensby, we have had problems with patrons in the past, but I am glad to say there are no problems now.Its well run & the management are trying thier best to give back The Pensby its GOOD NAME .The local commuinity needs to give their support, by visiting & promoting the Pensby. You guys deserve a pat on the back,so the younger generation can learn to respect thier local & have enjoyment at the same time, with out any misbehaviour & thought for local residents upon leaving the pensby at closing times.I think the Pensby is on the up,eventually with meals being served during the week, as well as weekends, with the local press giving The Pensby a good review.(Dave, whoever you are I hope you will take note of the comments made from each & everyone of us) Cheers Guys. Andrea & Stanley. | ||

Jed Yes, Let`s hear it for The Pen
| I agree Dave has certainly done the Pensby Hotel a favour if all this positive response is anything to go by. It`s easy to drag the reputation of a pub down but it really takes something to pick it up and put it back on it`s feet again, and that`s just what the management have done with the Pen. All credit to Shane, Arthur, Al, & Co. As for Dave`s commments, apparantly he makes a habit of sending his demented ramblings to all and sundry - he`ll be seeing pink elephants next. ! ! ! | ||

Sue G Lets hear it for the Pen
| Well Dave (if thats your real name) your little plan seems to have backfired! Although we don't know who you are you have certainly not been in The Pensby for quite some time. It might be that you live locally and thought that your blogg would put customers off, perhaps you thought you might be able to close the pub down and enhance the value of your propery. Not a chance my friend! The Pen was built presumably before you were born and it will be there after you have gone, rest assured!! The Pensby is a community pub but everyone is made welcome, the staff are brilliant and always willing to help. Arthur loves to play mine host which he does in a quite and unassuming manner. The previous reviewers have not really mentioned the football team, the darts team and let us not forget the golf society, all of which are supported by the owner of the pub who takes great pride in providing the teams with sportswear showing the Pensby logo. If you have not been to the pub recently then give it a go. The tribute band the Jam are appearing in the sports bar tomorrow night and as ever the music nights are well attended. So Dave, why not give it a try, you never know after a few drinks you may get to enjoy the atmosphere and make friends with business men, company directors, civil servants and the likes. Sorry no monkeys with long arms allowed!! Well done to Shane and the gang, great to have our pub back. Sue & Steve | ||

| I visit the Pensby Hotel every so often with my partner and now with our young family. Not being from Pensby, I have to say I was very dubious at first when I ventured to a pub out of my comfort zone!! I need not of worried. I have always been made to feel very welcome and the same has to be said of late when I have taken my children to the Pensby Hotel for Sunday lunch. Arthur and his team go out of their way to ensure you have a lovely meal and in my opinion, nothing is too much trouble. I have attended several functions at the newly refurbished function room upstairs, and would recommend it to anybody in the area looking for a decent party venue. In my opinion the Pensby Hotel has something for all tastes. A trendy Sports Bar for the Sports fans, a comfortable Lounge for the regulars and older clients and a super function room upstairs. It seems to me Dave (that's of course if it is his real name?) has a real Bee in his bonnet and I do wonder where he chooses to drink????? Neil, Sharon & Family x | ||

Sandra good pub | ||
| I have been the Pensby hotel a few times both before and after the new managment and i have to say i think it has come a long way from what it used to be. Yes you do scallys hanging round who think they own the place, but what pub dont you get that in?? The staff are nice and friendly and they cant do enough for you however i do feel i need to say about one barmaid with dyed redish hair, i took a disliking to...she seemd to serve the people she knew first and as for the people she didnt know...well they can wait!! she was also quite snotty whn i asked for my ice and straw 3 times ...even then i still didnt get any!! anyway enough about that...The sports bar is quite good and is definatly suited for football and the younger ones, however the other side is a bit quieter and for the diners. The food is definatly home cooked, None of the plastic microwave stuff you get in other pubs. MOST of the roast dinners ive had have been nice but there has been one or two occasions where i have not enjoyed it as much, but still nice!! The pensby isnt the best pub ive been in, but it certainly isnt the worst!! | ||

Charlotte BRILLIANT TURN AROUND
| Ive lived in Pensby all my life, I think the new management and all its new bar staff deserve a big pat on the back for turning the pub around. The time and effort gone into turning it around is clear to see. The bar was a bit grotty when i went about 2 years ago and was amazed that it could look so good on the opening night as the sports bar. The lounge is still the same but thats what makes it traditional, although i did see on sunday while having a fabulous home cooked roast dinner they where having all the fixed seating re-upholstered. As for the comments made about the food i have eaten there a few times now and will be in the future. The roast dinner was lovely none of this frozen veg or ready made roasties and the gravy is done the good old fashioned way! ~ Hats off to the chef!!~ Clearly 'Dave' has NOT been in the Pensby pub for quite a while and doesnt have a clue what he's talking about. The fair was brilliant the kids had a great time bumped into some old faces too, was a great community gathering shame some of our community are moaning killjoys!!! Brilliant turn around!! Its great to have our local back! Thanks to The Pensby Pub management. | ||

We enjoy the nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the staff are always pleasant and efficient. The food is good, traditional home cooking, none of your boil in the bag microwaved stuff that is served in so many pubs these days. I was astonished to read the last message, is this person for real? I was slightly amused to see it was anonymous, it should have been signed The Storyteller. Incidently, I am one of the people who goes outside for a smoke, I don`t have tattoos or wear a football shirt, replica or otherwise and I`m just about knocking on 70! S Grundy Nice, trendy but pricey pub.
| I am a regular visitor. The meals ARE served all day, usually up to scratch and not ridiculously priced. Drinks aren't cheap, but not outrageous. A pint of Carling Cold is £2.20 (15/10/06). Worth a visit but expect huge crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. | ||

Ian Holtaway A Real Pub Selling Real Ale
| Karen & Larry keep 4 hand pumps fully stocked and with a daily Happy Hour (or 3) this must be one of the best value pints around at sub 30 bob. The pub is Trad and friendly and sports a superb mosaic floor (only uncovered in recent years). With a Bar, Snug, Dining Room and News Room - character is maintained. The Bar itself is an island in the centre. My fave spot when back home. Give it a go..situated between Hamilton Sq and Conway Park Tube stops (2 mins walk either way). | ||

Andy B short measured | ||
| I popped in last night 18/3/06 for a Guiness last night on the way home from work. I was served, from a button dispenser, 2/3rds full of an outsized glass. It clearly wasn't nearly a pint and I asked the barman to top me up please. He got the bar supervisor who looked me up and down and said, well I say it is a pint. I said, i'm not being funny but..., and he asked me if I'd like him to get the landlord in a threatening kinda way! Too tired for an arguement, I quickly finished my drink, and left never to return. Rubbish pub... can't even do the basic's. Rude and unfriendly. | ||

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to say that the last few times we have had a meal in The Cherry Orchard, we have been extreemly disapointed with both the food and the service. Also we have found that the toilet facilities have been to a poor hygiene standard, especially in the Wacky Warehouse side of the pub. We will not be eating again in the Cherry Orchard because of the overall poor standard and poor hygiene standards.

| What a friendly pub, been in a couple of times, they have a live jam session thing on a tuesday night and although i dont play was very enjoyable. The beer is good, and the staff were very helpful. It looks like a real community pub, pub it welcomed me with open arms and was soon talking and mingling with the regulars, who all have there own spot in the place. I also happened to wander in on a karaoke night which i think was a friday which was very amusing, people singing and others wailing out there favorite songs. Well worth a visit, dont be put off by the working mans approach this place has, ive not been in a friendlier pub in ages. **** | ||
