 Going downhill
This place is going downhill quick. the mens toilets are always underwater, the landlord encourages undesirables, the staff struggle to get paid, beer is bought from other places than Robinsons and the pumps are rarely cleaned, the function room is tired and in desperate need of something

I am sat in the establishment as I speak, I am disgusted as I asked for coffee and was offered instant, not that I'm a snob but I can get instant at home, secondly I order steak and on my plate was a very small amount of mushrooms and peas, accompanied by a black and grey hair in my chips!!!! Lovely!!! Just what I asked for they asked if I would like it replaced which they did, second plate chips were full of grease and pease looked like marrowfat peas out of a tin. Also knives and forks were dirty and sauce packets were covered in god knows what. When dessert came I asked for ice cream sundae and out came a bowl of ice cream with bit of whipped cream and two flakes the presentation was childlike. My niece had a chipped plate also this type of service should not get any compliment at all in fact it should shared to others so that they do not make the mistake that we have made and that mistake is eating here.

Ste carolan
 Chocolate fudge cake!!!!!!
Hi my name is Stephen carolan and I would just like to say that the hot chocolate fudge cake on offer at this establishment is explosive to say the least. Me and my buddy's all had the day off work so we decided to take a trip to Tom cobbler in Crewe I had the chicken burger that I was disgusted to find had the same texture as a jelly fishes pubic regions and tasted like a raw breast implant, now you may think that's the worst part of my trip to this so called PUB and believe me friends I wish it was!!! I wiped my mouth on the nearest napkin I could find to remove the residue and memories from my main course to unfortunately take on an even more harrowing experience in the form of my dessert the CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE!!! As soon as I saw the genetically enhanced and radioactive strawberry feeling sorry for itself on the side of my plate I knew I was in for a torrid time, I courageously took my first spoonful and instantly my stomach started to tremble and react like it had never before. As I was approaching the last bite my intestines gave way as I scurried off to the toilets I threw my joggers to the grown before giving into the most intense bowel movement of my life and I'm sorry to say friends that my air max joggers were left stained worse than my dignity.

Anyway I'm going back there next week for more fudge cake xxx

The Sydney Arms
We are currently carrying out a mini refurbishment to give the Sydney Arms a new lease of life.
Introducing new cask & draught beers, wines & spirits and introducing a traditional menu full of old classics at affordable prices.
This is an exciting time and we are inviting people to come along to experience the journey with us.
We are planning a wide range of special events ranging from bringing back the pool table & to be part of the local league, to regular entertainment at the weekend.
With our large function room we will be looking to accommodate weddings, parties & much, much more.

Returned to the Red Cow and once again was not disappointed. The food was still great just as I had remembered and they now have Peroni on draught which was the icing on the cake for me. Stayed in their B&B accommodation and it still of a very high standard, in fact I have just recommended it to a friend.

 very poor sunday lunch
Sunday lunch today was dreadfull. Poor service and the member of staff had no interest in good customer service. waited 45 mins for main course which must have been microwaved. Chicken breast on the bone was tough and bland, not really a sunday roast, vegetables were undercooked. I could say more but will be making complaint direct to this pub and the Marstons chain.

 Fantastic Traditional Pub
This is a great place to visit for a drink or a meal. Owners Martin & Loraine along with the staff and regulars are so welcoming and friendly.
Homemade food is delicious and the beer garden is wonderful with chickens and other animals for the kids to enjoy.
They have excellent B&B accommodation which is of a very high standard and served a good hearty breakfast in the morning to residents.
Would highly recommend.

 Canalside country pub
I have been to this pub with my family for lunch several times over the last few summers.
It is pleasantly situated next to the Shropshire Union Canal and we usually attempt to get a table overlooking the canal where the boat traffic can be entertaining. Food has always been fine. Usual drinks selection plus a couple of ales although sometimes only one is actually available.
Small carpark and beer garden alongside the canal.

 food was lovely
i went the eight farmers a couple of days ago my visit was very nice i walked in and was greeted by a member of staff dressed in a smart black uniform and was served very quickly and in a friendly manner. the member of staff then asked if i would be dinning and gave me a blue menu which was clean and laid out very nice and easy to read she also told me about all the new specials on the boards and that they were now doing homemade chips. so i ordered 2 meals of the specials board which were priced £7.95. we didnt wait that long but we knew that we were in a cue as other people were eating in the area. as the meals came out they smelt amazing was lookin forward to ours coming. when are meals came out the member of staff placed the food down followed with the question of would u like any sauces which i said yes and was brought them straight away she then said enjoy your meals and left us to eat doing a table check about 5 mins after. when we finished she came over and asked if we finished before she collected the plates we said yes and asked to pass the the message on to the chef. as we left the bar maid said goodbye and see you again. so i think the place has had a complete turn round and would advise people to eat in there and try the meals they are well priced and taste amazing

In response to Mrs P B Gardner
I have read your comments and can only appologise that you were dissatisfied with your Xmas Day meal. As the new owners of the pub, I would like you to know that when we took the pub on 14 days before your meal, The kitchen was missing alot of important equipment eg microwave, dishwasher, plates, cutlery, teatowels, chopping boards and numerous other things, We spent the first week ordering and replacing broken equipment, so we could keep the kitchen open, We went to Makro and bought all new food stock, and ordered New Chef outfits and Uniforms for the staff to wear, Xmas lunch had been organised by the previous owners and they set the price at £24.95 for adults and £14.95 for children. We had to honour this because deposits had already been taken and the deposit money had been taken away by the previous owner. We served over 40 three course meals at a loss to ourselves, This is the only complaint I have recieved from the whole day, Taking into consideration all the problems that we took on when we took over the pub I don't think we have done too bad. Since the New Year we have removed some large pillars to make the place look brighter, painted the whole pub, which is still in progress, Moved the smoking shelter to stop customers standing in the door way, We have also set up a Carvery Unit which is opening on Saturday 17th January. Organised the first bingo night tonight and quiz nite on Monday 19th. We have started a New Slimming Challange on Saturdays at 11am, Introduced a New Karaoke on Saturday Nights with play your cards right game. We have introduced a New Specials Board with Home Cooked food and Real Home Made Chips. The Carvery is £3.95 Mon/Sat and £6.50 on a Sunday.

I would like to invite you to try our food again now we have had time to get things organised and hope that you will enjoy what we have created, and please let us know what you think.

 Christmas Lunch - Diabolical
When seated there was bread rolls on table but no butter-when asked for we were given margarine-enough for one half a roll-even though there was 3 adults and 1 child at the table! The starters-the garlic bread was burnt and the prawn cocktail was not prawns but shrimps and was served on a plate with salad and lemon-the plate was so small that there was only abour 10 shrimps. The main-the turkey was dry and the veg was tasteless and all mixed together with each other in a dish that was enough for two not four people. I had bought special yorkshire puddings for my graddaughter who is a celiac and when they arrived they were burnt and it was impossible for her to eat them. I also provided half a drum of a special gravy powder for her and when I asked for the remainder to be given back to me I was told that it had all been made up!!! It must have been given to another customer!! The sweet-the christmas pudding had been microwaved that much that it was like eating toffee. All of this cost £80!!!

 Now Crewe's best pub!
The Earl is one on Crewe's best pubs, i was instantly hooked by the great atmosphere and wonderful staff.
It was the first pub i had been to after being ill for quite a while (aggoraphobia) and it was amazing how friendly the staff were and i now manage to go regularly.
It is only £1 a pint on Tuesdays and on Saturdays it is a good place to go before going down the road to Tonic or to get teh bus from right outside to Nantwich.

 DONT GO !!!
This pub was actually recommended to us so we booked for a quite part of the day to avoid any crowds. When we got there we knew we should of walked straight back out !! Firstly the fact that we were the only people eating should of rung bells. The menus, tables and culterlry were filthy with no exaggeration there were black marks on my napkin when I had finished wiping them clean...We ordered our food and they did not have what we wanted so had to order again. The starter came with the delightful service from the kitchen staff wearing jeans and a dirty top, no chef whites were to be seen. Only to find that the mushrooms were frozen in the middle. When we told the staff about this, there was no apology and they were rude and seemed to take offense at our honesty. While we were waiting for the main we had the pleasure of the staff counting (clearly alot) of money out on the table accross from us, which was unprofessional and dangerous for them !! We waited an hour for the main whch had clearly been sitting in the kitchen (for about a week) My husband even bent his fork in his pie !! and my fish was discusting burned and the veg was rubbery. Then came the sweet which actually was not too bad, but how hard can a sweet be to put on a plate. I have never complained about anywhere before in my life but this pub needs to be avoided at all costs...or at least until they get new management in to run it.

absolutly disgusting there were 7 in are party half the food we asked for they hadnt got so we all had to reorder the cutlery ,tables, even the reserved sign and menus were fithy we should have walked straight out but my mum had paid for the food, garlic mushrooms still frozen told the staff not intersested, steak pie rock hard bent a fork ,chips and fish burnt staff didnt care, counting alot of money infront of everyone in the pub ,dont go the staff need to wear whites while cooking instead of football tops ,and to top it all we had to wait ages for the ding ding food . the pits should have known when we pulled in on the car park never again regulars loud brash swearing good job my youngest daughter wasnt with me ,family pub i dont think so

 Disgusting Pub
We went to the pub for a meal one evening, we waited at the bar whilst the barstaff served all the regular drinkers before us even though we had been waiting the longest! We ordered our meals and were horrified when the waitress came from the kitchen with our starters and a cigarette behind her ear and her bare belly hanging over her trousers! Um nice! The meal was not of the best quality and my partner and myself spent the night vomiting! We decided never to eat in there again!

We went to this establishment again last night (but only for a drink!), we ordered two vodka and cokes and it was very clear that the syrup had gone in the coke mixture, we asked the barstaff and they went to the manager who told us that the syrup was ok! The drink just tasted of water and vodka! Also whilst there the waitress was serving food to customers wearing a dirty football top! The customers were throwing ice cream at each other and standing up and swearing at the top of the voices and nothing was said! The bar staff spent their time talking to customers at the bar when there was clearly dirty tables, dirty glasses all over the tables and food all over the floor. Customers and staff are smoking by the front door where other customers are entering and exiting the establishment!

We feel it is such a same as this pub is central to a large housing estate and could have such great potential.

Needless to say we shall never be entering this establishment again!

My friend lives in Nantwich, she and her husband go frequently to the SF Pub. I have tried, to no avail, to get in contact with the management. I would very much like to be able to purchase a gift certificate for my friend for special occasions. Isn't there some way you can offer certificates online? I live in the US and find it hard to ship gifts, this would be a perfect solution.

the sous chef looks about 12!!!
i visited the romping donkey on january 6th and thought the food was excellent apart form the carvery. the atmosphere in the pub however was not so good. the sous chef who carnt be older than 12 was shouting abuse at a young lad who was cutting meat on the carvery and was very busy. the little chef could have easily helped him out but instead he stood there reading chefs monthly and barking orders. he must think hes hard. this is a very unprofessional thing to do. although i was dissapointed with the little chefs attitude the food however was very good and i would recomend the pub to anyone. the waiting on staff work very hard and the bar staff are also very good.

 lovely pub but bad ownership
whilst the food is excellent when the regular chef is working it is not so good when the other chef is working. the staff are very polite and helpful and i would recomend this pub to anyone. however i know from rumours in the area that the ownership is terrible and the staff are treated very badly.

This campsite and public house have recently been taken over and thankfully the couple who have are very pleasant and welcoming (unlike like previous owners). Enjoyed another nice weekend there and even got snow!!!

My Sister and Husbands place,it's great!
Just browsing through the net actually looking for a listing for another pub, came across your site and noticed Congleton pubs so thought I'd have a look. The write up you've done could not be more acurate. They have put a lot of hard work in since the last owners. It's nice to see that it's paid off. They work at keeping the atmosphere going as that is what they think is very important.
Thanks for the good - no - GREAT write up,they will really appreciate it, I know I do.
To anyone else reading this, please visit anytime you're in the area, you will have a great night (or day) out I'm sure. My sister and brother-in-law will always make you feel welcome and at ease.

 goldfish bowl with no atmosphere
the landlord is grumpy and the decor is bland with a spit and sawdust on the floor set up. Not recommended at all, The area is reknown for asbo's and there is a drug culture very hearby

This is a british pub at it's best. The oldest building in the town, and you can tell by the oak beams and lovely homely feel. Really enjoyed our visit here, friendly staff who told us a litlle about the pub itself. Very nice!

 Great Pub
This is proper community boozer in the town centre.
Great selection of beers, cheap food and sky sports - Happy Days!
This has got to be a great pub, ask Biff, he's worked in all of the others in the town - so he should know!

 Fish night
Beer average, fish under cooked. Thursday promotion: two fish for £10. I thought three may have cost £15. Wrong, the third was £8.95. I thought that was mean, so we won't go again.

 What a shame!
Three years ago the Waggon and Horses was a lively, busy, freindly pub. There was always a smile when you walked in through the front door. With the change of landlord the pub has changed completely. The landlord is never seen, the bar staff are never behind the bar, the beer is horrific, the whole atmosphere has canged completely.

Please bring back the old landlord, or change this one!

 A Pleasure to manage
I managed the frog with my then partner Karen for 18 months until may 1999 when a new addition to the family forced us to move.

Nantwich is a very frindly place and I met some of the nicest people in my time spent there.

I believe that the pub has gone tenanted now and I wish the new owners all the very best and hope they have as much fun and enjoyment at the Frog as we did.

It was a Pleasure.

Mr John Moore
 Terrible service
Went tonight for a curry evening.
After waiting ten minutes at the bar to be served we ordered our curry meals( 5 people in group).
After ten minutes a waitress came and told us that three of the meals couldn't be supplied because they didn't have any of the required curries in stock. (Two different types)
We made special arrangement with friends to go here only to cancel the full order and go elsewhere.
Why advertise a curry evening if you can't supply it.
Won't be going again

 best boozer in Congleton
WEll my first ever vist to Congleton was yesterday afret doing a walk from Macclesfield. So was looking forward to visting somne of the local hostelries. From what I saw most have gone down the sophisticated bar style alas. but the lion and Bell was a welcone refreshment. A proper pub actually with atmosphere which is sadly lacking in alot of other places and had a great looking girl behind the bar(which is always good). heh
best pub of the 5 I visited yesterday evening. top marks

 Customer Service
I recently went into the Bridge public house and I must say that on entering the premises I have never been into such an awful pub in my life nor wish to again. As a real ale drinker, my first impresson was the poor service I received on placing my order at the bar. I was served by someone who was barely out of nappies (definitely not old enough and I was served a pint of bitter). Also behind the bar was a child stacking glasses who only appeared to be about 5 years old if that. The beer tasted off. Do they ever clean their lines and a generally bad atmosphere. If you want a decent drink with a good pub atmosphere then dont go here.
