 It's a long long Road
God what do I say that hasn't already been said?
Other than it's 2019 now and I can't let this thread just die.

Barrie was a true gent. To the nth degree.

Matty a pain in the bum lmao.
But a good lad nonetheless.

Bar staff legendary.

Punters the best.

Living fire.

Dave clean up the back Yard and i'll give you 8 pints

Ok baz I'm on it. Lmao.

Loved that pub. Made me so welcome.
Was my local then for years.

Teddy. Pogo . The twins. Paddy and louis.

Not to forget leon whom I Hope to bump into again.
If Leon is his real name? James!

Sucker puncher . Not a real man. Hides behind Louis all the time.

But hey, every pub has a Walter Mitty. Golden gloves my arse Leon .

But to all the real folk. Sadly missed.

 Tarzan my arse!
They thought that Tarzan had stayed there but he didn't, it was the noise I made when I stepped into the ice cold shower in the morning. I do think Cheetah had been in there though judging by the pubes in the plug hole.
I am going to give this place one rosette to match the red rosette I had as an arse hole as a result of that breakfast they served me.

 Great bar.
The Ardwick is not closed, it changed hands, It is now owned by Amber Taverns, the manages name is Lyn.
I am a local and use the Ardwick a lot, visitors are always made welcome, and all sports are on show on the many screens that they have. There are always beer offers, the staff are friendly and the place is always clean. 1 street back from the prom, near Central pier so easy to find.Fridays and Saturdays there is always a DJ, with kareoki, and sometimes a live music bands. Come along and try the place, most people that do, always come back again

We had the pleasure of visiting this great pub.the staff and locals were absolutely brilliant and the beer was outstanding.the only thing that spoiled this pub was their caberet act he was afoul mouthed idiot who was anything but funny.and his act was thieving drinks from the tables or drinking out of your glass.

 Uncle Barrie
Well uncle Barrie it's been over 13 years since you died, the chances are no one reads these posts anymore, but I got married last Valentine's Day, and your picture was on my wedding bouquet.
I actually made Robert (my husband) drive to Glasgow because I wanted artificial flowers (and the best) ... Can you imagine ... Rob were going to Glasgow tomorrow, Charlotte it's 3 hours away,
Oh thought it was 45 mins away, the reason why I wanted the best artificial
Flowers was because I wanted
To have you once again every day in my
Life, and every time I look at my wedding bouquet I turn it around and there you are,
You were my dads best man, and without you even knowing it you walked me down the isle ...
Love you so Much and you would of been proud of me, and you would of loved my Husband ... <3 xx

So, today me and my friend decided to look back at some memories (and photos) and decided to search for our old favourite band in Blackpool, storm force at The Star (Stuart, Johnny, mel & Chris) roughly 2002? Anyway, wow. You guys were amazing. Really made our holiday! I really hope you all done well as you really made it one to remember! Especially if we still remember you about 14 years later! Amazing memories guys! Thanks for entertainment

 Great Public House
I started going to The Wheatsheaf over 20 years ago being close friends with Barries son Matthew. I had some unbelievably good times in there, going out for curries with Barrie and Matthew and the rest of the team from time to time in the Shalimar Gardens, Even watching Gareth Southgate miss THAT penalty in 1996!! Fond memories of a great pub and an excellent team there. I would also like to add that I have known Matthew over 20 years and I for one do not know of any criminal Violence and as for following the EDL we live in a democracy and he can support whoever he likes whether it be the EDL, Labour or the Guy that has a strange affection for pleasuring pigs.

I've been a real ale & real pub fanatic for donkeys years but still get a real buzz when I come across a great new find as with
the Bispham Hotel last weekend, unusually accompanied by my wife !
It's a gem, clean, friendly clientele and of course because it's Sam Smiths cheap decent ale in an environment where it's possible to have a normal conversation !
Why this pub does not feature in CAMRA's
National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors is a mystery !

 No Seconds Allowed
I have visited the carvery at the Tavern on several occasions since it was taken over by Joseph Holts
and never had any complaints always good food and value for money.Following its recent refurbishment 2013 I visited again
as allways excellent carvery no problems i have been 3 or four times since the recent refurbishment I returned to the servery to get a few more roast potatoes and gravy and i was told off by the assistant manager as I am apparently not allowed to go back for seconds in front of other customers which is not appropiate he should have told me in quite manner on my return to my table rather thab in the que,
Its the first time that i have ever been told that i cant go back for seconds and aj anyother carvery I have been allowed to return for more veg or what ever
with the exclusion of more meat
thats fair enough apperntly Forthys restraunts have taken over the catering side and Joseph Holt does alcohol side
what Forsthys should do is put a note up that you are unable
return to the servery for seconds
this should be clearly stated then this would erradicate any
unpleasant embarassings situations arising I must say this is the only carvery that I have been in where they have this ruling in one establishment i frequented the staff told me it was ok to go for seconds the only reservations thay had they did not like to see it left on the plate. Finally they will loose money as i nor any members of my family will be going again under thses circumstances and they should keep in mind that they are not the only carvery in the area and they don t have any resrictions.
I note thepart regarding customers comments so on the face of it you will not be to happy by my comments so will decline
to publish it

 Agressive staff
Yesterday we witnessed disgusting behaviour Fromm door staff at this establishment . A women with clear diminished mental capacity was treated worse than I have ever seen before. Yes she may be a pain in the arse but her treatment was totally out of order. The door person kept dragging and pushing her to the floor. At one stage manhandling her up the road causing her jeans to fall around her ankles exposing her to bits to everyone passing. I just hope the police act on the video footage that has been sent to them.

Walked in to a packed bar and a sign on the door which states open until one. However, upon entering was told No were closed, the nearest place open is out of town! I would recommend avoiding at all cost if you are from out of town. The sheer ignorance of the staff and locals (although, unlike the people in this place I have enough intelligence not to tar everyone with the same brush) is shameful. Unfortunately, it's the rare establishments, like this one which give Blackpool a bad name.
Thursday, April 17, 2014Rating: No rosettes

Do not go to if your out of town
If you are from south of England do not enter you are not welcome signs say open till one am busy but you walk in and have different accent not welcome and won't be served avoid like the plaque. Gives the pleasant people if blackpool a bad name!!!!!!

What has happened to the Stanley arms it used to have a greŗt atmosphere ? Could it be the karaoke DJ,s who insult the singers and audience ? For the last ten years we have been going to the stanley and had great time 's with our friends the Dj's have been great but this year where did you get them from?No wonder its going down hill needles to say we will not be going there next year .What a shame!

Went in today 24.09.13, and had a carvery ... never ever again. qued up for 20 minutes, and the chief Augustus Gloop who is a rather large portly chap (22 stone) was very hot from all that slicing, that he was sweating prefousely. He gave out small portions of meat, as I think he thought what was left over at the end he would get to eat!! The frozen vegetables were all horrible, the instant mash potatoe was very powdery, and they put mint sauce in the gravy, and called it mint gravy? Why even have mint sauce when the don't seve lamb meat on the carvery. it was turkey, pork, and gammon. My advice is visit Toby Carverys, they a bit dearer but it all fresh, and they have beef on.

I honestly do believe that a rubbish tip would be a more hygienic place than this dodgy grotty bar. Disgusting is not the word. I have sent a full report to Environmental Health and Licensing Department, at Blackpool Corporation. Underager's running about, Bad attitude Polish Doormen, and Shit smeared toilet walls. The pits! 21.09.13

 Needs shutting down !!!
Went in on 21.09.13 at about 10pm, The music was very very loud, and the dj was pissed up and swearing at everyone. He look like he was high as a kite. The stone floor was covered in broken glass, and at the end near the dancefloor people had urinated in the corner, as they didn't want to go into the pubs toilets. ( the pubs toilets looked like they never been cleaned, they had no toilet roll or handsoap, and in the 1 cubicle that wasn't out of order - somebody had smeared shit all over the wall !!!! ) AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!

First I would like to say that the no3 on devenshire rd is the worst carvery we have ever had (not once) me and my husband go most weeks for a meal to differnt pubs and we have been tothe no3 a few times as it is local, about 2 months ago we went and the food was dry and cold so we just thought it was a bad day so never said anything (but gave it a miss)yet we went yesterday (sat 3/11/12 ) and there was just 2 people eating at 3pm should have reailised, the food was WORSE than ever what was there it was cold and the roast spuds were like rubber no peas no stuffing and the sprouts looked like they had been there all day,we did complain but all they said was sorry .also there was knife & forks no napkins yet the chef stood talking to someone all the time we was there,we normaly stay for a few drinks after but we left as soon as. we have no complaints about other carverys in the flyde area, but will not return to no3 EVER

Hi have tonight visited No4 Newton Drive Blackpool with friends for a meal. We ordered to a young man who was helpful. The food was delivered by a member of kitchen who brought steak pudding not pie he argued we were wrong was rude aggressive and unpleasant . He left us to change what we ordered and across a room full of customer shouted at the young man who placed ordered I would go afar as to say he was a bully. The young came and said sorry and gave us some money back he was by sorry and have no problem with him at all mistakes do happen. The one from kitchen came again and said has he given you money back very aggressive. I am a business owner with staff and have to deal with the general public every day and if any of my staff behaved like your kitchen member I would not have repeat custom, the young man customer care was great and I applauded the way he behaved after such a tongue lashing. This is only my second visit and have only this afternoon when asked by my guest where would be good to eat recommended. No4 now I am not so sure food great surrounding great I will have to think if I will come again.

This place is a disgrace! The brewery or owners should take a serious look at this hovel. I called in on Friday 19 th October 2012 and found the place resembling the jockey on shameless TV. It stunk, the gents loo was smelly, the carpets were filthy, the place looked run down, paper on the walls were peeling, it was a disgrace to Blackpool. If the owners took a serious look from outside in I'm sure they would agree. One good point, the beer was good and cheap.

I would just like to say that Peter Websters is a great pub and I will definitely be visiting again! We came on a hen party with 30 people and found the drink prices to be more than reasonable. A lot cheaper than the majority of the rest of Blackpool. The staff were polite and friendly, and the management more than accommodating! We were advised that the restaurant upstairs had the best food in town and I have to agree! The steak is the best I think I've ever had. Cooked to Perfection. The staff here were also warm and friendly and the chef accommodated all my fussy friends. If you are going to Blackpool get yourself to Peter Websters!!! They started our day with a bang, and I'm sure they will yours!

called at the Fairhaven, Sunday 15/07/12. Party of 7 @ 5.00 pm, only 2 other tables in use. Ordered 7 starters & 7 mains. 40 minutes passed with no food arriving. the waitress then came to the table & said they had no prawns for the cocktail starters but had sent out for some. The 2 prawn cocktails
came in a soup bowl both had warm prawns 2 in one bowl & 3 in the other.. 30 mins later the mains came which were all passable.. Only 2 ordered starters one ice cream & one cheesecake 20 mins passed then the waitress came & said they had no cheesecake at this point we decided to ask for the bill & leave,, The electric then failed in the whole pub, the till would not open, when some time later it did there was no change.. i am local as was everyone else.. Do not go here to eat what a 2 & a half hour fiasco for an 84 year old great grandad & his family

Got to say a nice local pub to have in the area, however very disappointed with the Battle of the Bands this year!!
When a young band, one of the best around, is told yes you can play then, because we have had a personal arguement with the organisers son, no there is no room then it comes down to being really petty!!
Never mind Jekyll you will have to be content with winning the Wyre Schools Battle of the Bands contest that took place last week at the Lecture Hall (attended by the Mayor of Wyre) and what a nice prize went with it too!
All I can say is your loss Papa Greywolf missing out on these three really talented lads!!
Anyone wanting to see them next gig is at the Gasworkers Fleetwood on Tram Sunday!! Cheers

I am writing this on behalf of a group of 25 lads at blackpool on a stagg night. Firstly visited sat/10/july/2012. at 3pm, and was told by the very rude polish doormen that lot of lads not come in - not allowed We had just arrived in the resort, so was not drunk or anything - and this was our first pub on the strip. The manager martin came out and told the sausage roll to let us in, he obviously knew that we had big cash to spend, and when we got in - we understood why he needed it. The place was bare, no pictures on the walls, no mirrors, nothing but magnolia paint from ceiling to floor ... we ordered 22 pints of fosters and 2 double vodka and cokes .. came to £76.40 !!!! PINT OF FOSTERS £2.90 DBL VODKA & CHEAP MIXER £6.30 The lager was alright, but we dont even pay £2.90 a pint in London !! And the vodka was a cheap one not a branded one like smirnoff, - and the coke post mix was horrbile, (tasted like roller cola 25p for 2 ltrs from netto!!!) Obviously we only stayed for one, and I would like to point out that the same rounds were coming in at £47-£52 around town. If you goto Blackpool all the best bars are around North Pier, they are cheaper, and busier, with nice decor and entertainment. mjones@aol.com -

My first impression of the Empress Pub/B+B was eye-opening having been greeted by a lairy 6í4Ē transvestite called Paul, the landlord. Aside from having to endure his mindless ramblings, ĎPaulí (or Emma) kept mentioning how he known to be quite good with his hands, and still to this day i cannot work out whether he was offering me a fight or a handjob. Furthermore, i was slightly disappointed to hear that the half eaten slice of pizza that was left by a previous customer had just been eaten in the breakfast offered the week prior, just my luck. On a brighter note, if you are a fan of heroin, am sure you will have no problem finding a source in this establishment. If you do not mind being the only one in there with an IQ in triple figures, nor are you bothered by an abundance of flies that even African children are not used to then the Empress pub/B+B is certainly the place for you.

 Sunday Lunch
Visited the Clarence because we was told it does the best sunday lunch in Blackpool, as it was a bank holiday it was busier then usual, so we was told it was an hours wait, Which it was but the meal was Excellant all fresh food and plenty of it for the price, i can see sundays are a big hit at this place. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and apologised for our wait. We couldn't ask for anymore
Thanks to you all keep up the good service, we will be back when we are back in the area

 Poor Value, Poor Service
I went to the Fairhaven at 7.30pm on a Thursday night, there were 4 of us eating. The meals provided cold chips, 10oz fatty gammon, egg shell in the fried egg and cheap mayonnaise. It took 40 minutes to get the food, then another 5 minutes for the condiments! With the drinks the bill was over £62. The plates then sat on the table for another 25 minutes, so I took them to the bar myself. I will not be eating there again and I'm not sure about drinking there as they only have one choice of red wine by the bottle. Shame, as it looks quite nice inside.

 Very Poor
We went today for lunch, but it was an unhappy experience. The food took an hour to be served, Cumberland whirl was just replaced with ordinary sausages as they had run out. Sea bass was £12.95 and served with seasonal vegetables. These turned out to be baby potatoes (just a few) and peas. We were also charged for a jug of plain water with a piece of lemon...the bar bill for that and a pint of Wainwrights came to £7.00. Overall very expensive for very little. We will not be returning.

I have been visiting Blackpool every year for many years and last week just happened to visit Uncle Peters with my family. I am now going back next weekend even though it is 3 hours drive.
It will be my families local in Blackpool ,as I have found the friendliest pub, with the friendliest bar staff for years.
Also upstairs the resturant is WELL worth the value, very clean and well laid out, with the BEST Mixed Grill I have ever had for the price.
They are new and making changes, but well worth a visit!

As a local we were pleased to see the Fairhaven was undergoing refurbishment...about 20yrs overdue. We went last night to try out the new 'Gastro' pub experience. We couldn't see too much difference from the old menu but expected good home cooking. Unfortunately as it was following Mothers Day, the kitchen seemed to have run out of several items and we received alternatives to the menu. Again, we'll give them that, however we were disappointed with the frozen chips, what appeared to be microwaved chicken and boring rice. The only upside was the salad was fresh and the meals were in swanky new dishes. Overall...fab decoration in the refurbishment, but please make your own food...its not hard to make proper chips and you'll make a bomb. Gastropub its not at the moment.

Having visited Uncle Peter Websters last weekend I was very happy with the service provided, the barstaff were very friendly and chatty and provided good entertainment the music was upbeat and current. Whilst in the pub our Grandchildren were with us and we were made to feel very welcome although we wanted to have a meal the staff informed us that the pub had just been taken over and all the kitchens shut whilst being renovated. As for the toilets we were informed they were not the best decorated and were next in line for updating however they were clean and better than any of the public toilets around the area. I was happy to take the children in them. I am posting a rosette of 3 this time but am confident to be rating it at 5 on my next visit in the summer. Thankyou for an entertaining time.

just posting this on here to inform all that uncle peter websters is currently under new managment and whilst a large number of critical veiws are well noted and well justified id like to point out that the most recent are mallicious and fancyfull firstly on the date stated regarding the smirnoff we didnt have red bull in stock it was a post mix energy drink with a house double vodka at a very reasonable prie of £3 due to the fact we had only just taken the venue over meant unfortunatly that first weekend we had to operate with existing stock we do however have red bull available along with a full range of products and some very reasonable offers now and regarding the comments about the abussive dj we dont have a dj and havent had one since taking the venue over we are however looking to employ a good kareoke dj and entertainer for the coming season but once again on the date stated there wasnt even a microphone on site and i would take ANY racist remaks made on the premises extremely seriously. i also have part ownership in a security company of which my partners are of a mixed race so to allow this sort of behavour to take place is ridicoulous. being a director of a security company i also take the licencing objectives very seriously and whilst me and my wife take every possible measures to ensure the smooth running of the premises we also have a very compitent manager in place and superb security provisions so maybe those more recent comments are those of not to far away competitors who should maybe concentrate on putting there own shody establishment in order instead of spending good working hrs condeming others as far as the concerns regarding the toilets and poor food supplied goes these were a great concern to myself and wife and upon taking over the venue we decided to close the kitchen with amediate effect and are currently renovating the establishment and hoping to open our new steak house venture very shortly of which i will keep this site posted and for those who have had a bad experience previosly i hope you will call back to give us the oppotunity to impress were the toilets are concerned we will be taking the matter to task just as soon as renovations to the first floor are completed many thanks martin and nikki ps could any further complaints made plz leave a contact so as we may respond in full so we can try and meet everybodys standard and taste

Well, I'm fnnidig ironic humor reading of the common thread of the Black Panther associates who actually lived there, in shot spurts, burning schools down in my home barrios. It's always good to see the streets of my childhood on the big screen. I don't appreciated that there wasn't one Xicana/o in the streets in this film. I'm not clear why they don't film the actual the neighborhoods where the B.P. lived and gathered in mass. Odd.

I first came across The Mariners in 1977 when working for the DSS at Hesketh House, Fleetwood and livng in Cleveleys; opposite the amusements. We used to drink locally but every Wednesday we'd go to the Mariners for the Folk Club starring Woodbine Lizzie. Does anyone remember them? We never missed as they were brilliant and I actually got up and did a turn on our last night before returning to Newcastle. The Mariners holds many memories for me, not least the women I met and the beer we drank. The place was always heaving. On growing up (eh) I returned in 1981 to find that the place was a dive. Never been back since.

A group of us went in uncle peter websters last night, and it was full of what appeared to be underaged youths. The bar was dirty, with empty glasses piled high on the bar, and the bar surface dirty and wet.
They had a dj on and he was telling racist jokes about asians, which alarmed us as we had a indian lad with us that took the brunt of it from him.
We complained to the manager, and he said if we didnt like it F**k off elsewhere - which is what we did !!! This place needs closing down.

 wrong VODKA in smirnoff bottles!!
Went in last night, and ordered two double smirnoff vodkas with a can of Red Bull, ... ( we drink Vodka and know what Smirnoff tastes like ) - and what we were given from the Smirnoff bottle was a far infearier cheap blended spirit. We were however charged premium price for Smirnoff !!!

Told by the barstaff that its owned by the same people that run the dodgy frog and bucket comedy clubs, and are based in manchester.

Toilets were filthy, no toilet rolls or soap - and barstaff carefree - but seemingly knowledegable about the company.

Not reccomended - bring back the previous owners !!

 It was BAD
When Morgans were in charge for the first time in my life I asked for my money back and got it without question. The food was inedible - fish and chips and chicken curry - simple food but clearly straight from the freezer/packet. Burgers and hot dogs were the main offerings - OK up the road in Blackpool - but hardly home cooking.
Living close by, the empty dining room every day spoke volumes, as did the comments of people who had shared my bad experience. The inevitable happened when Morgans left in mid December.
The previous reviewer must have enjoyed a fluke or have very low expectations.
The new tenants have a menu of PROPER pub food and will oversee a refurbishment in the New Year. Welcome back The Fairhaven of old!!

I've been going to the lifeboat for many years when visiting blackpool and I find this a little hidden gem of a pub very friendly staff and locals. And there is still staff form the old land lord still working there to this day. The past year or so it's had live entertainment on a daily basis. Mainly karaoke but the DJs that are singing are very good. It's a must see little pub when in Blackpool.

 Avoid at all costs
myself and my friend had spent a very pleasant Wednesday evening at what we irst thought was a decent gay venue. Only to feel extremely let down on our return vist two days late on 25/11/2011 when were not only charged to go into what is effectively just a pub but were also overcharged for watered down drinks and then o add insult to injury we were charged nearly double for bottled drinks that did not taste like anything we have experienced before. Conidering we were there for less than 10 minutes we did not expect to end up paying over £10 during such a brief visit. I would not reccommend this venue under any circumstances and avoid at all costs. The staff were rude surly and very unwelcoming, the toilets appeared to have been cleaned since our visit on Wednesday. Has any one else had a similar experience?

Think we must be in a different pub to last comment. No atmosphere, where have all the customers gone. Food average nothing to rave about just looks like a run down tennancy like all pubs are starting to look like. needs more than a refurbishment to save it can see it becoming another Tesco express

I can't believe the previous comment made,my wife and myself had spend a weekend in Blackpool and thought we would call in for sunday lunch,The barman called Sam was very polite and helpfull and the menu was very varied and not too pricey. When our orders arrived the plate was over flowing and lovely and hot. This was certainly not out of a freezer and then microwaved.
This pub has a lot going for it,if we ever get back this way we will pop in again.

 Lovely grub, welcoming hosts
Loathed to say how good the food and service are, may have to wait next time!
First went on week leading up to valentines day, got in without any fuss, which made alarm bells ring, especially due to how 'quiet' it felt but was soon put at ease. Many many years ago it was a buzzing place, now it was only side entrance open/round the back. Went with no recommendatios, just pot luck, dont be put off, as the friendly helpful staff are superb, and although not the biggest selection in the world menuwise, have found myself going back to see if I can exhaust selection and possibly criticise, but just cant. To say its 'pub grub' would be a disservice, its purely very good food, pure and simple, well mannered attentive staff, and will be going back until something changes (hopefully not!) Seemingly booked for the next 3 years New Years Eves, and have a thriving coach trade in the daytime, so long may it stay. PS steaks are not huge but delicious.

I worked at the Mitre between 1974 -76; the land lord was Norman Stokes from Manchester.

Need decent wine and food, and reliability!
Have visited the nicer North Shore Blackpool a few times since March 2009, and stay at a hotel nearby UTC. My experience with UT'C has been variable - and under both managements. In March 2011 the refurbishment of the kitchen over ran, so no food on a Friday lunchtime, as I had been promised on the phone. And then they ran out of Pinot Grigio - yet again. Hope that when I arrive in November they will have plenty of stocks of PG in, and that I will be able to eat lunch rather than having to buy sandwiches from the local shop. When it's good, it's very very good; but when it's bad it's horrid! All down to management!

The Fairhaven Pub - Morgans Chain
The Fairhaven Pub has been taken over by the Morgan's Chain. If you want poor quality microwavable food then eat here. Our visit this weekend highlited the demise of the pub's restaurant following takeover by the new owners. This is the fist time in over ten years that I've seen the restaurant area of the pub completely empty, which speaks for itself. The menu is typical of low brow out of town pubs and totally unsatifsactory for this type of pub in this area. Such a shame as we have eaten there on a weekly basis for the past ten years but will never eat there again.

 Anti-Papa Greywolf campaign
Can I start a campaign to remove this loathsome individual from the Bay Horse if not the planet. He ruins every evening I have in this, my local pub with his dire taste in music and his insistence on shouting to his pals across the pub using the ultra-loud DJ system. The pub is great, the beer well-kept, but you cannot hear yourself think when this idiot is in the spotlight.

Loved it!!! Well worth a visit.
I visited The Clarence recently after not having been for a long time.

I have to say I loved it!

The place was spotlessly clean and the homecooked freshly prepared food was very good and reasonably priced.

The new Landlady obviously knows what she's doing and is doing it well.

More than worth a visit! Thankyou!

 A nice pub again
I stopped going to Uncle Tom's as it always seemed neglected and un-cared for. Now someone is investing time and money in it, and it shows. A great pub. I agree with banning dogs too!

The food was fine and the beer was too. It is good to have the REAL Uncle Tom's back!

I visited the Uncle Petrer Webster pub on sunday 26/6/2011 with 3 members of my family. NEVER AGAIN. The most disgusting pub ib Great Britain. Surly staff who did not give a damn. Toilets that were worse than those at glastonbury after the festival. We were silly enough to order the extra large fish and chips. When they did arrive I was shocked to find that I have seen bigger fish fingers. When I questioned the so called waiter about the small size of the fish he told me all the fish were the same size it was the amount of chips that made the meal extra large. What a joke. Never again will we go there

Was let down after being a regular
I like to think I encorage and use the Flying Handbsg until last Friday 24 June 2011. My first drink was a whisky & Water. It was served in a plastic whisky container that had a fur coating on the rim. I asked for some water, they gave me warm water out of the tap. This drink was nothing like whisky, it seemed to have already watered down. I changed to Lager and this was the watery same. More like ASDA cheap Lager (2%) watered down with soda water. My friend with me said his lemonade was the same. FH You have lost a let down customer, I don't know what you are doing to the drinks but they are not what the should be......we left.

Deputy manager and Barmaid abusive and rude!!
I came to the BelleVue and expected a awful experience, I went to the bar and ordered food! I ordered a steak and chilli con carne! Whilst I waited fr the food to come, my husband went to get the drinks! As the food came, the waitress slammed the plates on the table and was like here you go, in total shock, i told my husband what had happened and he called the deputy manager over (sturn faced mule) He didn't even apologised! Then to top it off my husbands steak was not cooked right! He said he couldn't change it! Which I think is bang out of order!! As we payed!! The next day I had food poisoning from the chilli con carne! Overall I would not recommend anyone to come to this disgraceful pub!

Girl with I.D could not get served!!!
I come in the Belle Vue all the time with my family!! And it's our local! Yet the barstaff refused to serve me, as she thought I was underage!! Which the girl has served me on several occasions knowing that my passport had run out aswell as my mate, Whilst been here we experienced a awful atmosphere,, Yet when the deputy manager came to speak to us! He was abusive and rude!! I'm 19 and the manager knows me, my dad bought me a drink as they would not serve me!! And the scole faced man came over and said I can't drink my drink!! And then said to all his barstaff not to serve me or my family! When they didn't do anything wrong! Yet the barstaff was bang out of order! Second time I went to the bar, she would not serve me, even though I only wanted a lime and lemonade! It was the most unwelcome place to be in! As all the staff were staring and bitching about me, so overall i would not say its a nice pub to be in and the atmosphere was shocking,, Next time I will go in with a different I.D and expect to be served!!

Just been in Uncle Tom's. It has been refurbished and decorated inside and is being painted outside. The new owner seems friendly enough. Good to see someone is taking a pride in the place now.  Worth Making Your Local...
The Clarance has struggled in recent times, but now that it is under new management things are definitely looking up. Especially in the cleanliness of the pub and the quality of the food being served. Freshly cooked no packet stuff. Straight forward menu at reasonable prices. Sunday dinners well worth returning for alone! Very good access for disabled and wheelchairs. Staff are very friendly and I understand pub will also get a refurbishment shortly so this pub will be even better to visit.

Just because the food is cheap does it mean the food is automatically crap? Firstly i have been in on a few occasions with my children and the stuffing is very dry, well it is when i get to it, you can barely get a mouth full out of it and and when telling the chef, he replied 'oh'. I am a vegetarian and thus can only have the pots and veg AND THEY ARE NOT THE BEST. How long is the food supposed to sat on the the hotplate? The staff i agree do need more training

Have you been to The Clarence lately, where have Christine & Jonathan gone, the best Landlords in Blackpool. How the standards have dropped. The Pub is filthy and is going down down down. What are Thwaites thinking of, the Police are never away from the place. Food is awful Christine always did homemade and her presentation was the best. Jonathan kept the best pint of Thwaites on the fylde now I dont even drink it you cant its that bad. Avoid this place if coming into Blackpool.

 Good pub, terrible land lady
The pub is nice and the food itself is lovely, but the landlady needs a personality transplant.

I asked her a simple question and she answered with a terrible attitude and complained that the meals she was carrying were too heavy??!

 How Wrong Can You Be?
I visted the Failhaven yesterday wiith 10 of my family, ranging in age between 8 weeks and 80 years. The astmosphere was excelltn, the staff efficient, the food fresh and very tasty and well priced. The landlord was very pleasant and helpful. I sometimes wonder what people actually think they want when they write such negative comments. We have been to the Fairhaven a number of time now and have never been disappointed. Perhaps i am easily pleased - no I'm NOT.

Lets just say dont eat of the plates unless you lift a leg to pee!
And child friendly only if youve been raised by wolves.
Alot of hype on radio but only hairs in food, bad service from a barmaid warm beer and valasine everywhere i can only guess its to deter the drug users that are there?
If your looking to be disapointed and dont mind your kids health suffering then Uncle Toms is a great adventure, however if you are looking for a pleasant, clean family pub and grub avoid this place like the plague......

we last visited the gardeners arms in 2008. we found the pub on the last day of our holiday and our only regret was we hadnt found it on the first day! it was one of the best pub meals we had ever had and also one of the most reasonably priced. we are coming back to blackpool in the very near fiuture so i checked the address on the web as we will most certainly be coming back again and are looking forward to both the value for money, the standard of the food and also the staff were so pleasant and helpful.

 Racist remarks should be removed.
Mr Hilton's continually refering to the Scottish Deputy Manager at the Belle Vue as 'jock' is racist and his review should be edited or removed. Frankly, if that his his attitude then God only knows what sort of pub he runs!

Julie D - Berwick Upon Tweed
Used to go to this pub all of the time when we visited blackpool from the north east. Chris Farrell - absolutely fantastic voice. Still play your CD almost every day. Came back to buy your new CD but you were gone. Would love to turn the clock back and re-visit the Princess Bar again and find all of the entertainers there. What a crying shame to let this go to the dogs. Would love to know where Chris is now - is he still in Blackpool and is he still entertaining.

The Bispham hotel is a complete dirty disgraceful mess, I have invited friends to meet for my husbands 60th birthday, and have just been in to put some banners up, to find the whole pub a dirty disaster area, The vaults floor has not been cleaned for a week. The ladies toilets are a utter disgrace. RIP Mick you would turn in your grave. I am ashamed to see our local go to pot.

 Great Pub - Great Atmosphere
We went in for a couple of quiet drinks and ended up staying the whole evening! The bar staff were fantastic and bubbly, the friendly atmosphere made you feel welcome straight away. To finish the night off, the Saturday night DJ Banksy was amazing. Created an un-believable party atmosphere and had everyone dancing until closing time with the crowd iching for more. This pub comes well recommended for Live Bands and food.

J Hilton
 Spoilt Easter
Drove 300 miles to visit my Mum who recommended the Belle Vue for some food on Sun 4th April. The place was packed and the staff were brilliant APART FROM the deputy manager. A Scottish chap who did not smile for the 3 hours we were there!!! After a long wait for a table (the nice staff advised of the wait) I ordered the combo meal and asked for my steak to be cooked rare. When it arrived the staek was more well done, so I asked one of the staff to change it for a rare one - I must add I thought I had ordered a rib eye. When the staek came back I suggested to the (polite waitress) that it should be a rib eye, so she took it away again. About a minute late the 'angry Jock' vitually threw my steak onto the table and loudly said, the meal you ordered comes with rump!! I could see that the steak was rump and probably the worst one he had in the kitchen. While he was still at the table I tried to cut it, to no avail and said just take it away I will do without (I had my 70 year old mother with me and didn't want to cause a scene). When I had finished my meal, which I have to say was good value, I went to the bar and explained about not having a steak; the lovely waitress said she would speak to the deputy manager about a refund. The mad Jock stormed over to our table and tried telling me that the first steak I had was cooked rare and shouldn't have been changed and that there was nothing wrong with the second steak. By this time I was really cheesed off with his attitude and lack of professional customer service and told him as much, I was so annoyed I did swear, but apologised immediately. Anyway long story short he asked me to leave the pub. I advised him that I would not leave and would gladly talk to the Police who he said he was going to call, I then re-joined my Mother at the table. A couple of minutes later one of the girls came to the table, apologised for everything and gave me a full refund on my meal. As far as I am aware she was not part of the management team, BUT SHE SHOULD BE. She had done what the yellow bellied deputy manager Jock should have done in the first place.
In conclusion the atmosphere and staff are great, its a family friendly pub that you will enjoy - they just need to sort out the deputy manager...
If the owner or manager want to contact me regarding my comments please feel free to do so.
PS. I run a pub in Wales and so can speak from experience.

 Lacking customer service skills
I used to love the No.3 for drinking as well as eating but due to a few bad experiences I won't be going back there. In recent times there has been an unacceptable time to wait for food, lack of staff, poor communication between staff, little if any customer service skills and in particular one bloke who I assumed to be the manager or supervisor who spoke to us (and other members of the public) appallingly. It's a shame because overall the food is good - it's just the length of time you have to wait (even if you pre-order it for a certain time) and then made to feel it's your fault by the plank of a guy that works there.
Friday, March 5, 2010Rating: rosettes

 Bad customer service
Have always liked this place but it has recently gone down hill. the customer service is a disgrace (especially the guy) he needs a lesson in customer service skills. We pre-ordered food as we knew the likelihood of it being busy, our telephone order was accepted but blatently ignored. Need more staff, especially on a Friday as they cannot cope with more than 20 people at a time. We will be going elsewhere from now on!

Having just visited this pub I can honestly say I have never in all the places i have eaten around the counrty ever experienced anything like the manager of the Fairhaven. To say he was rude and unfriendly would be an understatement. the earlier posting on this site shows he obviously doesn't learn from his mistakes and hasn't changed. I will definately be spreading the word around the area as there will be absolutely no recommendations from me for this place

The Tavern at the mill Carvery was recommended by a friend and as we have a Carvery every Sunday lunchtime, we decided to give it a go. It was the best Carvery we have had and we have had a few. The only complaint we have is that you do not put much meat on the plate, we got 3 small slices. The other Carveries we have been to are cheaper (not as good though) but do give you plenty of meat. My wife loves her meat and does not want to return because of the lack of it. please accept this e mail in the spirit it was sent and your comments would be appreciated

 Blackpool's Friendliest Pub!! The Stanley!
Just a note to say what a fabulous pub! As for the entertainment - it's absolutely superb.
Don't miss the afternoon show-it's free!! Roy Holland is a belting entertainer and deserves a wider audience. You can be laughing with his humour one minute and crying with his songs the next. Just don't mention Man.United! Excellent Value for Money - and some of the volunteer singers are good, too!!! Watch out for the guy who sings Sinatra!!!

not very nice at all !!!
i have been to the pub twice this week and found both times that the staff make it seem that you are interrupting them from something important when you go to the bar , they are constantly miserable , the food was just edible but not worth the price , I had the 2 for £5 offer , they didnt even clear the table after half an hour of waiting i had to do it myself , which says it all , lazy and pathetic . and even the landlord seems sooo unfriendly when you approach the bar , as a newcomer to the pub I would assume they would be more inviting . If you ever have the choice go ANYWHERE else !!!! Also if the landlord happens to read this I would invite him to pull me on any of these complaints for I am sure he couldnt disprove them

Good atmosphere especial on Thursdays with the jazzband. Old maestros who can still play well. Sundays OK with the growing interest in the karaoke. My brother Andy loved to go in as his local regertably for only a short time before he became too ill in late December last year, passing away after incapacity in his apartment hospital admission in February of this year.

Humphrey refuses to pay for more hours for staff so customers walk out as they can't get served. For the sake of paying out another £30 a night HUNDREDS of pounds are lost in takings over the bar. The place needs cleaning up - chairs are dangerous to sit in and the decor is shabby. A friendly landlord wouldn't go amiss. Get your act together and use a bit of business sense instead of being so bloodt tightarsed!!!!

 What a pity
This was the best pub in Blackpool but whatever happened to the ambience, feeling, mood , environment and atmosphere as its turned to cold icy stairs and the barmen chat up the men and the ladies are standing in the cold and waiting. Whatever happened to gallantry, politeness, graciousness and chivalry or maybe its changing times and if it is itís a pity.

 Now open!
This pub has now reopened. Went in March and enjoyed it. Seems to be a bit cleaner that before it shut down and a good pint of Guinness too, so glad to say previous unfavourable comments are now out of date. Could do with some real ale though.

I enjoyed it so much I became drunk.
Has a good selection of ales on offer for the discerning drinker. Also sports the cheeriest landlord in the Fylde coast and a splendidly diverse array of regular patrons which has earned it the title of The Star Wars Bar and The Clown Hall.

 2007 Re-furbishment
Joseph Holt of Manchester bought the Tavern in July 2007, spending £1.2million buying and subsequently taking two months to refurbish the site. The changes didnít stop there, the staff, the menu and the suppliers where all changed.
27th September 2007 is the date the Tavern re-opened to the public following itís lengthy refurbishment.

I frequented this pub on many occasions as part of the football team. It always had a great atmosphere, particularly on a sunday afternoon. The staff were very friendly, and the landlord obviously had a great sense of humour, sporting a ridiculous handle bar mustache that wouldnt look out of place in the blue oyster bar! The food was excellent! particularly the sausages, and i was fortunate enough to play hide the sausage with one of the barmaids on several occasions. I would defo return to this pub again, though not on thursday quiz night, as it resembles a doctors waiting room. My last memory was when dave decided he worked there, and went behind the bar to serve his favourite customers with beer and crisps, much to the delight of the walrus! I would recomend this pub to anyone.

i was part of that infamous halfway house team. The legendary lads started of the day with a worldy performance against our arch enemy from the north.peter crowy tried to ruin the day by scoring against us, though time ran out b4 he could do it again.
the celabrations after were as the gentalman stated. ivan gaz campo(the chairman) showed our visitors the door for thier own safety. the evening roled on and the pub was trashed as a manditory gesture from the boys. we got wasted throughout the night causing pure havoc. GREAT TIMES PEOPLE, great times.

 thanks for your comment
hi iam dave and this is the last time i will be on this forum.lets get one thing straight i or my ex partner are or where poor at pub management or cabaret and the stanley will be a better and cleaner place as its just had a major refurb for christ sake.i and also my ex have never said a bad word about michael the manager and for your information we both agree that he is possibly the best manager in thwaites brewery.i cannot stop people having there opinion on here about me iam only thanking them for the nice things they are saying .and if you think iam crap at my job i will invite you to my venue in glasgow and beleive me iam sure you will change your mind .i note youve not gave your name as per usual with the people that make comments good with there mouth but no name i wonder

A fantastic pub, great atmosphere, great girls behind the bar, and good food and brill landlord.
Tuesday, April 14, 2009Rating: rosettes

 Good Golly
Why o' why are the old management getting so much attention, from what i heard, they were very small fish in a great big pond. The Stanley is now vibrant, clean, buzzing with atmosphere and most of all.....run by a good manager....all the things that this Dave and Michael failed to do with it....entertainment is in the eye of the beholder......and i for one think that the bar is now a million times better than what those 2 amateurs did with it....now can we get on with talking about The Stanley and help people out there that have never been before by posting about it rather than Dave, Dave and more Dave.

just reading the comments here and its interesting to note that dave ex boss of the stanley is opening a cabaret bar in blackpool next session.as everybody knows when it comes to cabaret then he is probably the best for spotting and booking artist example Martin Gregory Lambert .i know dave didnt spot martin but to get such a great artist to do a summer session in a blackpool bar that tells you .and if reading any of the comments of his place in glasgow are to go by then good for blackpool lets face it blackpool needs all the help it can get.i for one will be watching to see how this affects the stanley next year

 never seen anything like it
i must be very careful what i say on here.iam an employee of thwaites brewery and ive just came back from glasgow where i went to jokers which dave previously from the stanley owns.i went to see for myself if it was his after all the good reviews on here and beleive me its true.what a venue and i will certainly be talking to to the boss at thwaites tomorrow.if this cabaret bar was in blackpool no pub/bar/cabaret would or could live with it and iam a stanley arms fan .but dave has done his homework and also spent fortunes on the place.some of the acts who have been on and also coming up leon jackson same difference/ jls/and also meals and service to die for and even the prices are fair remember we are talking about a cabaret bar iam just glad its not in blackpool because nothing would live with it

 Hi Jessica
I worked in Blackpool in 1968 and met Peter Webster: he was both a gentleman and a gentle man. If I remember correctly, his popular show on Central Pier included a calculation which he had devised. It was truly brilliant: he seemed to be able to predict important events, and this kept the audience literally spell-bound. A truly brilliant act!

I went in the other day to have a look around the place after the opening, and i would have to say it looks great. I tried the food, had a angus burger and was great. I would recommend it to any one, the staff some great and always happy to talk to you and help you, there where a few people in and found out some of the history. I would hope that this place stays open for a long long long time as it looks like a great place for the future. noticed that they where taking bookings for xmas day and was told they selling pretty quick.

Well first off i am glad that Emma and Des are good, really knew you both had it in you even if i was rubbish at bringing it out...haha. And Clare, get over yourself chick, just because every time i am saying nice things to people does not mean anyone else has to be mentioned, it seems as though you have the problem here and i suggest a course in reality might just pop you back into society. Anyway, this site is for recommending The Stanley so use it wisely and maturely!

 The Mitre
I visited the Mitre and liked it.
I am from the Isle of Man.

It is a small pub and very friendly.
I made a friend in the past called Blackpool Tony but i believe he passed away.

I think he was a regular there and a really nice person.

 The Tache Night Club
I sometimes go over to it when i visit and was last there in April 2008. (From te Isle of Man)

First went to it around 1998 then went again about 2005 and was amazed to see the guy with the very long hair behind the bar. I think he maybe the landlord (Not certain)
Even in 2008 he was there, it was like time had stood still.

I like the place though i noticed that the music doesn't seem as loud as it was around 2004.

One year i think 2005 i came at the wrong time as it was shut on certain days and open on others.

Look forward to visiting it again, its nice to see a rock night club, something we don't have on the Isle of Man :)

We took over the pub back in April and it has had a total makeover. It is nothing like it was previously. The beer is cheap and good (£1.99 a pint and £2 house doubles)!!!! We have various things going on during the week and weekends.

Monday = Poker Night
Tuesday = Pool team
Wednesday = Quiz night
Thursday = Jammin Session
Friday & Saturday we have bands discos and karaokes going on.
Sunday = Family disco/karaoke during the day.

Come and check us out we are a friendly pub.

 what an improvement
i have been going in the belle vue for a few years now and have seen it take a nose dive this past year or so, however the company has put in a new management couple with a great local reputation they have only been there 4 weeks and already the place has improved dramatically, they are very freindly and will do anything to help i had a night out in there on saturady and it was party night it was great and the place was packed, well done to the company and well done to the new managers.

shit beer, great people, no music, no telly, so hence why ridicule is nothing to be scared of. Pete Lenton and his happy band of singers. Viva Ken Barlow never had it so good. There's always time to pontificate at heavens gate. Humphrey OUT!!!!!!!!!

my wife,son,daughter-in-law,myself,called in the highcross,on monday, evening,at 5-30pm we bought drinks, that was very expensive,we sat at a table near the till, the music that was playing was far to loud, the menu was so bland that we drank the very expensive drinks and walked out of the place never to return
Thursday, October 23, 2008Rating: No rosettes

A what was an amazing watering hole for all around is now a former shadow of it's self, the only thing going for it is a drunken singing choir that sits to the right of the bar led only by the legend that is pete lenton or charles as he known to his singing friends, there is still a friendly atmophere which only a local's pub should have and that is probably down to the price of the ale and the pure brew, only because that makes you forget how poor the place has gone. Long live the corner and Mr Humphrey Smith please retire and hand it over to someone who knows what they are doing before we have no bip to binge in!

We found the owner/manager extremely surly in his dealings with us. We got the impression he had better things to do than be pleasant to people who are paying his wages. We have also spoken to others who all said the same thing. We won't be back.

 visited this pub yesterday
I popped into the belle yesterday for a quiet pint and snack.
The staff were lovely but I have to say it was the worst burger I have ever had. The bacon was a postage stamp size of fat, cheese a 50p size and burger burned round edges. Chips soaked in fat.
When I commented on this after leaving 2/3rds of food on plate, the staff did apologise, but i thought i should they should have offered my money back. This was a treat for me as i am on a pension and it left a bad taste in my mouth - i wont be back or take my family in there. Yes its cheap, so is the food and the staff prob underpaid. I would rather pay more and get better grub.

 A New Start......
Andy and Hillsy have taken over the Welcome, yes it had gone a bit downhill but these two local boys are ready to get it back to it's position as a top family pub/restaurant. A new chef is in place and the future is looking good for the pub. Get down and give the boys your local support when it re-opens for business this Saturday (20/9/08)

 under new management
The belle vue is now a community pub with a strong emphasis on food and fun, yes the management and staff have changed but for the better. Drugs will not be tolerated at all. management are injecting fun back into the community and are not so sorry if a few inapropriate people have been kicked out, go elsewhere ! we locals want a clean local pub, with good food, good service and a non drugs atmosphere !!

 Very nicee
Very Good Busy Pub..
Great Atmosphere on a Saturday night in a great location with close proximity to town center for raving and a good local too.
they do have one very fit barmaid well worth a look.

Not been in for some time and pleased that the brewery have done more than just a lick of paint this time round. Food OK. Standard pub chain fare but many tables not cleared or wiped properly. Bar staff a bit hit and miss though assistant manager (Mike?) very helpful and polite. Was talking to one of the locals who reckons most people prefer him to the Landlady.

Karen and Stephen Foster
The Wheatsheaf was a warm pub filled with warm hearted people and a wonderful landlord - Barry Eastwood. It was a pub for local people who cared about each other and who would rally round if one of their own was in need of help. Barry would give you his last pound if he thought you were in trouble and his death left a big gap in a lot of peoples lives. The Wheatsheaf is no longer standing and with it's demise goes another bit of what was good about Britain. For a lot of us, sitting among friends in a family atmosphere beats posing at snooty, over-priced, vile beer selling hell holes any day.

Hope you all move on now, give Mick a chance cos' he is the dogs boll**** at what he does and if i coud have been 50% as good as him, the pub would have been fab. Do not blame Mick, Thwaites are just thinking money and he will be under immence pressure, but at least it will be done right with him.

 Put the reecord straight!
Hi everyone,
Michael sending everyone out there a message to clarify where WE are. WE are no more, we broke up and lost the pub through pure stupidity on one persons behalf who did not have a care for anyone else but himself and ruined any chance of moving to the big stage. I am in Manchester now, living a blissful, peaceful life and never have any regrets.....i am so happy and i want to thank all those people sending in all these wonderful comments about WE, but sorry, it was all a farce, lots of bullying and abuse behind the scenes.

Miss you all!

Dirty to say the least. glasses that were so dirty they appeared to have a permanent stain. Toilets that looked like they hadn't seen a cleaner since the 1900's.

and a strange smell reminiscent of shit.

This is my local pub. I lived near it a long time before I ventured in as it had a somewhat bad reputation. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff are courteous at all times. The atmosphere is very family orientated during the day and very relaxed and friendly in the evenings.
My only complaint (if you can call it that?) is that there needs to be a little more entertainment especially on a saturday night.

 What a wicked night
What a wicked place for a night out, went to Blackpool on a hen party and with 12 of us to please Cahoots was just the place, fabulous atmosphere all night long, funky music, we danced our feet off. The staff was attentive and always smiling, so whatever they werenít doing back in June they sure are in July. The girls had a great time messing about pole dancing and the glass dance floor was a treat, just remember if youíre wearing a skirt it is glass and they can see you from downstairs lol.
Weíll be back to visit soon :o)

 alas no more wheaty
This pub was an integral part of my youth growing up in Blackpool, I think a little bit of me got knocked down with it, I can remember going in with mates before the footy to sink a couple of Old Peculiars, sat by the fire with my missus having a laugh with the Barry and the characters that came in, places like this are dissapearing fast and its a sad loss to us all!
RIP Mr Eastwood RIP Wheatsheaf
Friday, July 25, 2008Rating: rosettes

heartfelt, cant take away the memories though =D
True the wheatsheaf was a haven for good food, ale, and company my father had worked in the town for 24yrs in the industry and upon his time of passing, he was the longest serving landlord in the town, thanks for all the lovely comments guys. To be fair the pub was to be demolished with the development around the talbot area.
Tuesday, July 22, 2008Rating: rosettes

Not the worst pub in Blackpool, but when i asked for a little more coke in my wifes drink i was greeted with a really dirty look, this spoiled the atmosphere before i even sat down. Perhaps the barmaid should learn some manners.

Still the best pub in Thornton Cleveleys
What a brilliant establishment, i am looking forward to sitting outside this summer on their rather fine outdoor furniture. Although Stella is no longer available the 1664 is tasty as owt and they have a cracking selection of ales. Haven't seen Fez in there for a while, look out for him and Trev, they're a right couple of jokers and may even be employed as clowns somewhere.
Lovely management too and great staff.
Monday, June 16, 2008Rating: rosettes

my experience in the bar was ok it had a good atmosphere although it was apparant that some people were just out for a fight.that aside ok night although very over priced as we found other places in the town centre more reasonable.
Friday, June 13, 2008Rating: rosettes

 why bother
as a customer i would of prefered better service the staff had no interest in their jobs and only served the people directly infront of them and were very ignorant.when i complained to management all i got was a self important idiot talking to me saying well everyone must wait their turn which would be fine if it had been busy enough they will no longer have my custom

 Good lively pub
Always go in for a couple when in Blackpool. Apparently £500,000 has been spent on it. But apart from moving the bar and stage doesn't seem a lot different to me. Always a good night though, and always a few hen nights in there. But you also see a few older people, so is a good mix.

 Friendly, clean pub
Nice clean, comfortable, friendly pub. Pool table too, and plenty of room to justs sit quietly or watch the live sport that they have on.
Supposed to be a good night too in the cabaret bar in the back, but never been in there. One of Blackpool's better pubs, and also handily placed near where we stop.

 Good, friendly pub
Always one of our local pubs on our regular visits to Blackpool.
Looks like it has had a lick of paint since last time. Though the doorman is now in his 15th year I think it is. He is very good though, low key, but ready to step in if need be. A proper pub in my opinion, now how about getting some real ale in? Please!

I would not recommend a visit to the Flying Handbag, Blackpool as I was stolen from by the guy on the entrance till. A £20 note was handed over for a two person entry (total cost should have been £4) and were handed back £6 in change. The £20 was obviously pocketed as when he opened the till there was only a stash of £10's. The same thing happened to my friends who entered 5 minutes later. They had the balls to argue and were given the correct change. Absolutely disgusting, and also what happened to the customer is always right!?  very poor
Landlady need lessons in customer service.Costs nothing to be polite. Not enough staff at busy times. Don't go in the vaults as you won't get served. Only interested in serving you if you're buying food. Won't be going in again.

This pub has now shut down. Been shut since March time apparently.
Not a great loss in my opinion. Was a bit grubby and not particularly friendly either. And no real ale either.
Still sad to see another pub close though.

 Camra Winners
The Saddle Inn is the Oldest and best Real Ale pub in Blackpool , it won Camra Branch Pub of the Year 2007, and has won Joint Camra Branch Pub of the Year 2008 with the Taps in Lytham, In the Saddle Inn there is now two Regular cask beers on the bar - Thwaites & Bass plus six changing
Guest beers to choose from, the quality of the cask ale is excellent.
The landlord and staff make everyone welcome, it is a typical locals pub with people of all characters, and anyone visiting from out of town are made most welcome, They have a good chef producing excellent food for you to enjoy, and a patio area outside for you to enjoy a good pint of beer and a meal in the summer, there is also a smoking shelter provided
for people who want to enjoy a cigarette, so if you are visiting
Blackpool and are a Real Ale drinker call in and enjoy a pint of top quality beer.

 Jimmy passed away
Hi my name is Jamie and I worked at The Manchester Pub In Blackpool for
the best part of 18 years and I have some tragic news for some of your
posters If you could place an acknowledgement that Jimmy from the
Manchester pub in Blackpool sadly passed away on Saturday 22nd December
2007, I worked with Jimmy for a long long time and to say he educated me
is an understatement. Please please place a notice to acknowledge this.

fantastic place loved every second also got to take my hat off to the fantastic doorteam they make you feel very safe indeed with such a high presence for the size of venue you can tell them a mile off with bright orange jackets they look silly but do the job i was down stairs on sat when a very scary fight broke out between about 10 lads the doorstaff were on top of it in numbers emiediatly and had cleared all the trouble makers from the premises in a matter of minutes my hat is of to them, the doorstaff down our end of the country culd do with some lessons off these lads. if any are reading this you culd smile a bit more tho.

I like to class myself as a friend of Barry's dateing back to the Star days. We were his 'friends from down south' and even though we could not get to Blackpool that often there was always a friendly welcome. This note is about Barry rather the pub as when i was up there last to pay my respects to the Family i found it was shut and i think now knocked down. Allthough of course to an old school landlord like Barry he was the pub. When i was in Blackpool last time before that Barry was in hospital but i spoke to his son and had the customary few beers. Very enjoyable under i suppose sad circumsances. Anyone who knows the family please let them know there is a small note for them here. I knew to late for the funeral (The Gutterband boys told me at one of there gigs.) but would have come up. Like i said never got up to see him much but is sorely missed. I remember his Generosity and great personallity. Cheers Barry The Pubs and these characters are sadly dissapearing fast.

A pub we always go in when in Blackpool. A nice big pub that caters for everyone. Big screens, had a group of hens in when we were in, dressed as policewomen, lovely! A couple of real ales too. Nice and clean and friendly. One of Blackpool's better pubs.

Thanks for the nice comments especially you Mr Brown Pool, you must have been one of the wannabe members of Storm Force who sat through each week night watching us perform to all the girls, such a hard life isnt it!!

 Excellent real ale pub
Always worth a visit , very friendly and plenty of real ale to choose from. Always stop off here on the way to town and more often then not end there for the whole evening. Could probably do with a spring clean but all in all an excellent pub and I would highly recommend you give it a go. Does good food as well.

 Good old fashioned pub
Always visit the Lifeboat when in Blackpool. It gets pretty lively during the summer months and is always popular , somewhat quieter out of season. Certainly doesn't deserve the negativity of previous comments but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Only has Theakstons so not a real ale place but certainly worth stopping off when heading to the town from the north. Has a pool table and good choice on the dukebox.

 Are you kdding?
This is a poor pub. The word 'venue' in others' comments tends to give it away. The pub is great if you are about 18 and like rock bands. Otherwise beer is unbelievably expensive which is ironic as it's out of the town. You think they'd be trying to attract customers from the town with a bit of promo pricing. Still maybe the owners are rock fans or see a 'young persons' niche hear. Rread between the lines guys/gals and give it a wide birth.
Monday, January 1, 2007Rating: No rosettes

 Ok, friendly
New staff and proprietors - friendly. Bit pricey and quiett and agree decor average but now ok for family meal, few drinks and telly. Have been a couple of times recently. Nice, quiet out of the way. It's all about expectations really. If you want a real ale pub or a kicking disco you wouldn't go here. But then as somewhere handy with football (without louts) can't grumble
Monday, January 1, 2007Rating: rosettes

 Gone NOW!
This pub no longer exists! It was demolished (as so many are) to make way for new 'tasteful' apartments. Shame really - apart from the two murders in there it was an ideal staggering point on the way to village.

Good old fashioned pub. First went in in 1981 when it was advertised as a sports bar. Well it had a dart board! Always go in when in Blackpool, always friendly and surprisingly lively as well.  Great place - for sure!
Started hitting the tache back in the late 80's, mostly on my bike which used to live outside the entrance, most nights a gang of us used to role up and head on in, take over a table and sit back put our bike boot laden feet up on the tables and knock back a few beers... how times have changed. :)

Last time I was in there was after a gig I did (work as a DJ myself) andme an my mate bobbed in at about 12:30am. this was prob back in 2002/2003 now, yet still I recognised faces.. Lynn the DJ, Stuart her better half behind the bar still and Reggie was on the door with HIS missus taking the entry fee's.

Most folk in there were much younger than used to be.. no more Wendy James look-a-likes wearing just a nice frilly Basque and suspenders.. LOL

Can't really say publicly what used to go on up the blocked off staircase (shortcut into barney's) but what a laugh.

Actually I'm gigging a Rock gig this weekend and previewing all the old tunes has me drooling for some Rock action... so I might be seen in the Tache yet again soon.... I'll be the older person with thinning hair trying to look young.. LMAO

anyone who spots me and mentions this message can have a drink on me :)

A Smashing Night Out At The Tavern
I would just like to say how much i thoroughly enjoyed the recent spat of theme nights at the marvellous Tavern, the inguinuity of the staff to put on these nights is quite something. Amongst my favourites were the Pamela Anderson night and the Country and Western Night with entertainment from a DJ with a penchant for Billy Ray Cyrus and The Mavericks. It is a lovely pub with friendly faces everywhere you turn and smashing food that will always leave you wanting more.

 A meal to remember
I would like to say that my visit to the Tavern at the mill was the best I have had.
On the last occasion I went the service was faultless.
Teh staff were warm and friendly and always went out of the way to help you choose the best meal of the day.
I would recomend the potato wedges in BBQ and cheese for all to try washed down with a cool drink of Coke Belgrano.
This can be orderded from the bar and leave you change from a five pound note.
The waiting staff allways have a story to tell and if you bump into Terry he will inform you of all the events on that week.

 What A Dump
Had been here before (about 3 years ago) and had found it OK - what a change - now it's as bad as some of the above have mentioned, the Landlord and Landlady shouldn't be in the business, ignorant and loudmouthed, and the Landlord isn't much better!

Steer clear and find a pub where the owners are glad of your business and hard earned money, if I want to see drunken louts I'll go on the Promenade at Blackpool.

 what a night
the first time i went to balckpool was a year ago for my friends stag night and we stumbled across cahoots by mistake, armed with a blow up doll, a whip and the groom who had been waxed we went up stairs where the beds and glass dance floor are located and partied a few hours away, love the place and can;t wait to go back on the 14th of october 2006, watch out ladies for 14 mackems and a blow up doll

Hi All,

In response to Kerry's post:

If you have a problem with the discs then please bring them back in and I'll be glad to refund the money or I will record some new ones and make sure they work.
We have had problems with the DVD writer this season, so I'm sorry if your DVD's haven't worked.

Spot on Staff - at last
The staff at this hostelry has been somewhat questionable - they now have a superb management team with excellent staff. Coupled with the fact that they have now taken over the lower bar - DT Bar - this is one bar worth a visit.

 Friendly Rock Venue
i love this place! i have been going their for about 3 years now. it has two floors and 3 bars. if your in to alternative, indie, rock or heavy metal this is the place for you. It isn't the most Glamorous of places but it is probably one of the most welcoming of places in blackpool nobody cares what you look like how you dress all that matters is having a good time.It is locally run and once you have been going for a while people will treat you almost as if you are family! its ace!

 Brillo place
I went into this place for the first time last weekend (after all my mates recommended it). What a brillo place this is. Wowweeee. The doormen are great too as they don't let any riff raff in. Hi to Eugene and Shelton!
