 Sunday Carvery to Die For!
Well what can I say... Sunday carvery to die for (and the chefs own pig did!!) What a fantastic meal at a fantastic price!! Choice of lamb, beef, pork, Gammon or turkey... every kind of Veg you can think of... Puts all of the chain pubs to shame!! If you are driving past you MUST stop and try it.

 Great Vegan/Veggie food….
You could drive past this place without realising you're missing out on something REALLY special, particaulrly if you're a herbivore. Everyone, including the neat eaters, had great food - hopefully once established, they can work on the decor a bit!!

 Definatly wont be going again
Awful food served onto plates with uncovered hands and salt thrown over the worst steak imaginable again using bare hands served with potato 'D' chips that were so hard they were impossible to cut.
What a huge disappointment

 definately recommend
My partner and i went a few weeks ago, even though the restaurant area was fully booked we ate in the bar area, which was very cosy. Staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. Took my best friend a few days later. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. So great to see some people with passion restore this grsat pub to its former glory! Definately recommend the chocolate brownie!

 Stunning food!
My fiancée and I ate a 9 course valentine's meal for £35 per head - absolutely stunning food!
The Dog in a Doublet doesn't pretend to be anything other than it is - a modest, well priced pub with some great beers and fantastic food. The friendly service and relaxed atmosphere was great.
Only recently reopened by passionate new owners that deserve a prosperous business and their community's support.
Home made pie night, all you can eat pizza/pasta nights and the odd fine dining experience (more of these please!).

Booked a table for six last night, thought we'd give the newly re-opened Dog a try. We heard the chef had been on Masterchef, and we were not disappointed. We each tried something different, and the verdict was unanimous, delicious. To top it off, the bread and butter pudding was the best I've ever tasted. Great value for money, and friendly staff. The decor is still a work in progress, but the food is already top class.

 AVOID !
Horrendous, skanky place for locals only. Was verbally abused upon entry and my friend was kicked... both incidents were done by the barmaid !

This pub leaves a VERY bad impression of Peterborough and I shall be complaining to Chares Wells brewery about the quality (or distinct lack ) of their bar staff - yes you, the short one with long black hair thats about 45/50 - nasty !

 Very Bad Service-Do Not Bother
My partner spent the evening at this pub and was appalled by the service received.

After a few hours of drinking with so called 'friends' he went to buy a round of drinks. His card declined the transaction and was subjected to a grave service despite apologising, giving his details over and stating he would withdraw cash from the cash machine.

In the process of getting the cash he was attacked and was assaulted by the Cross Keys pub on Friday 5th August 2011 by two twin brothers that he had spent the evening with.

After the ordeal he went back into the Cross Keys pub and told the bar tender what had happened and asked him to call the police. The bartender refused and smirked at what had happened and offered NO assistance what so ever!!!!!!

The Cross Keys Pub DO NOT LOOK AFTER THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!

 50% voucher
Hi,
I called the Ramblewood the other day to ask what the Valentine menu would be and was told that because of the 50% voucher they had running they probably wouldn't be doing one. I was told I could find a voucher on the website, but I can't find it any where. Does anyone know where I can find it please?

Many Thanks

 Warm, Welcoming and oh-so friendly!
I LOVE the ramblewood inn, the food, the atmosphere... and most of all the diverse and dynamic staff. From Ritchie and Pat behind the bar with their witty banter, to Sammy and Chloe in the restaurant with their amazing service with a smile... not to mention Matt's pub quiz, which in my view is unrivalled! I sometimes wish i could bring my sleeping bag down with me so I could just stay there forever... ha, I should be so lucky! The only downfall I have to mention is the sad, sad loss of the asst.manager, Katie, who for me was the cherry on the icing! Love you all and see you soon, Jaques xxx

 Number correction
Actually, we do know that the number's wrong. The problem is that they wouldn't change it after our new phone system was installed.
The real number to get you through to the Ramblewood Inn (NOT Orton Hall Hotel) is: 01733 372767. The only time that number doesn't get answered is when the pub's closed.
I'm sorry people have had a hard time getting through to the pub, it's honestly out of our hands; despite the number of times we have notified the directories about the change, it appears there is nothing we can do about it.
I hope that you will try again, we will be happy to take your booking! Also, for functions of less than 35 people, ask about the Hayloft.

Good out of town location, nice garden, Samuel Smiths real ales served and kept well. Usually a great atmosphere although in recent months the Cheap Lager has attracted the wrong crowd, may be best to avoid on Saturday Nights during the summer.

 Stinks of puke
For some reason tis pub stinks of puke. I am not sure why the ambient OAP crowd, or down-and-outs stand for it, but they do - in their droves during the day. Serious. This pub has SO much going for it, ruined by the fact that it serves cheap beer to those than can barely afford it. Food is less than average, service is secind to none. If you're looking to get-pissed-quick on a budget and don't care about the smell - come on down....

 excellent!!!!!!!
The Dog in a doublet provides a warm welcoming atmosphere. The food can only be described as sumptuous and excellent value for money. The busty barmaids make you feel ever so welcome and for a shifty fiver will go the extra mile to make you go home satisfied. ;-)

can be a good laugh. the bar staff were excellent but unfortunately they have all just recently left (what does that tell you?) keep your business to yourself as it has a habit of finding itself told to anyone that will listen, and that comes from behind the bar. 99% of customers are lovely.

 Best pub in Stilton
Great little pub. A proper English pub with well kept ales, decent selection of lager and other drinks, Sky Sports for those who enjoy football, and very reasonably priced decent pub fayre.

Staff unfortunately are not always as friendly as they could be but it's a friendly enough pub as far as the clientele are concerned. I used to live in stilton and I'd always choose this above the overpriced and snooty Bell Inn and the Stilton Cheese.

 Slaughtered lamb memories
Yup, memories of watching 'American Werewolf in London' crossed with feelings of Royston Vasey as I walked in here for the first time. You get the impression that only locals are supposed to be in here.

Not the most welcoming of pubs, which is entirely down to the clientele it has to be said. Bar staff were very friendly. Though unfortunately the real ale I was drinking was not kept very well at all.

Food comes in the pork scratchings variety.

Pretty poor show all round really.

 Superb food
A small pub with a small beer garden out the back, but good, well kept ales. A proper old fashioned pub in one sense (at least in the bar) but the great thing about this pub is the fact that attached to the pub is an excellent Indian restaurant. Food here is superb and very reasonably priced (as are the drinks which are brought through from the pub area).
Wednesday, August 24, 2005Rating: rosettes

yaxley mackem
 Mackems beware...
...as the landlord is a fervent Newcastle supporter. However, can't hold that too much against him as the atmostphere in the pub is very good and friendly. A local pub feeling without being a yokels local (unlike the Royal Oak across the road). Food is ok. No sky or TV, which may or may not be a blessing depending on your viewpoint. Good selection of ales, lager, and stout (all well kept). And decent selection of spirits too if that's your poison. Plenty of space out in the beer garden as well on those all too infrequent sunny summer's days.

 Top quality food and ale
I visited the harrier hungry horse in gunthorpe with my wife and had a meal. we knew we wouldnt be able to handle the big plate special that they do so thankfully they did a a smaller lite bite meal which was just right for us. we didnt have to wait long before the food came out and it was a nice change. we thought we would try this pub for lunch because it was reccommended to us, we normally go to the halycon but we didnt enjoy the service which persuaded us to try here instead and we were pleased so we have been making it a habit of going in at lunch time now. so if anybody wishes to try it here then try it as its marvellous. The ale is also something to try absolutely top marks.

 Brilliant Pub/Restaurant
I paid a visit to this pub with my famiy and I found the meals had a very high standard which i feel have improved even more just recently. On Entry i was welcomed with a friendly smile from the bar staff. From the moment i walked in to the moment i left it was a truelly brilliant experience. Fridays and Saturday nights are a big hit here with the pub being packed out with people who enjoy coming back each time. I would recommend this to anyone considering visiting here in the near future i will certainly be going back.
