DQ, thkans for the info on Eldridge Cleaver and for the book recommendation. Another Black Panther associate (who later left due to ideological differences), James Carr spent his childhood in Aliso Village and also burned down his school (Malabar)! His autobiography, Bad is among my favorite books.

Probably the best pub in the UK
The customer services is excellent, reguardless if its busy or quiet. The food is amazing, and the beer puts the pub in a league of its own. They have 4 regualar brewed beers from their brewery and 6 guest beers. The lines are cleaned after every cask! tested, and if suitable served. Every detail of the pub seems to be taken care of weither its the cuttlery is polished, beds and rooms clean to the bar area being clean. I would recommend this pub to anyone!

Great pub food at a great price.
This pub is basically an upmarket brewers fayre. The food is good simple stuff, a great selection of ales, good service. No booking available and you may be kept waiting for a table on a fri or sat night.

 Great looking
The place looks good, the staff look good, the food looks good.
There are a few problems though. Food doesn't taste good, it's expensive, and the service is poor. Gave it a couple of chances but i wont be going back. Shame.

 Could be great.....
Nice pub tucked away in a rural location. Good access and parking. Low prices, good cuts of meat. Only problem is i've been there a couple of times and the food is always cold!

Hop Pole - Good Beer + Folk
This pub was transformed when renovated a year or so ago. There are TEN!!! handpumps with cask ales and an ample supply of bottled curiosities to sample. The food's good honest pub grub and yours truly runs a Folk music and singing (and sometimes dancing) night on the third Tuesday monthly - in the pub for all to hear.

 Out of Date?
This pub burnt down about 3 years ago and hasn't been rebuilt yet!

Amazing - why is it that such an establishment cannot bother to ensure that its websites do not have the correct telephone number.
Wake up England!
No score again, and like our example, no customer reservation possible!

 And there's more.
Nicely run pub. 10 Real-Ales on tap with regular porters and dark milds. Friendly atmosphere and the food is good honest pub-fare. I should know, it's my local now. Folk music and singing on 3rd Tuesday of the month @ 8.30pm. See you there!

Renovation has absolutely transformed the place
A nice setting, this place just seems to get better and better. I recently took some friends whom frequently fine dine for a meal there and they too can't stop raving about the place. Great food for a very reasonable price.

A good place to go for a quiet meal
A nice pub that makes it's money from good food rather than drink. We booked a group meal there though (8 people) and the staff didn't like us making noise (and we aren't talking excessive either). Being glared at tends to spoil the appetite.

 Vintage Inn
Great pub to go to for a quiet drink or a nice low key meal. Part of the Vintage Inn chain. Very good atmosphere, love the beams and variety of rooms. Good beer garden!

 Old but welcoming
In need of updating but a friendly atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks. Very good staff

A wine bar with no wine
A good layout on two floors. Variety of different seating. Nice atmosphere BUT a wine bar that frequently runs out of red wine can't be classed as great!

Best pub in Aylesbury for food.
Excellent pub, more for eating than drinking but a nice relaxed atmosphere and the food is the best in the area by far. Prices are reasonably high but quite normal for the quiality and imagination. It's nice that it hasn't got a pool table!

we had booked to eat hear at the woolpack on sunday 5th june .The service was good but the food was not.The roast dinners were dry and pulp like especially the potatoes, obviously sitting around for some time before being delivered to our table. The pasta dish was swimming in olive oil.the pizza was good according to my 12 yr old son.it was a big shame we were not told that the resident chef was away.i will not be going there again. The manageress tried to pasify us with free desserts or coffee.what a shame to a birthday treat

I have been fortunate enough to dine at this pub three times now and each time I have been overwhelmed by the friendliness of the staff, even when 'suffering' my 5 year old boy! Food is great and plenty of it, cost is reasonable.

Highly recommended!!!

Remember to book - almost no chance of a table otherwise - maybe OK at lunch time.

 non smoking
Comfy sofas, brilliant coffee, excellent real ale, great food and all situated in a National Trust property - what more could you want! It is like a country pub in the town centre. Massive courtyard for the summer, you have to see this place to believe it - now my fav place.

 Local Boozer.
Way too pricey. No pool table, and a tiny smoking section; full of senior citizens. Apart from that, it's not too bad!

 Local pub for local people...
Nice pub, been drinking there for the past 4 years, always nice staff, recent restaurant refurb & new menu a welcome addition. No pool table! Only drawback, except for the pricey guiness...

Fabulous pub with absolutely excellent waiting service. The chef is amazing. I'd recommend the wild duck or the navarin of lamb. Fantastic pub and bar. The staff are polite and friendly.

Since the renovation this has to be one of the classiest places to eat out in Aylesbury. Good prices too. Highly recommended.

 Bright, happy and modern bar.
The Grapes whilst relatively small is split on 2 levels. The smaller upstairs is has a mixture of stools, chairs and comfy sofas for maximum lounging!
The downstairs has wood flooring and as well as the normal stools and chairs the small understairs area has been fitted with padded seating which makes for a fresh social area. Overall it has a very open feel to it and is bright and well airconditioned.
There is always a great atmosphere at The Grapes and they offer an excellent range of wines!
