 Lots of Fun
Love 💕 the Noble used to drink here during the sixties only place I felt safe dressed in Drag
Used to leave my dresses and wigs at the pub and the queens would come from miles around for the Saturday night dances
Glad to see it’s still going strong

 A Luvly Pub
Stopped off here for a drink after our Water of Leith walk, and what a luvly pub, sat throught the back with comfy couches and an open fire, a great amosphere, people who I assume where locals chatting to each other from other tables, no music or tv in this area, a great place to chill and relax after our walk, the bar area was busy with locals, football on the tv, but a friendly welcoming pub with a really nice barmaid, recommend a visit, its a proper friendly pub with atmosphere

Numb Artist
 Food and service diabolical
This is a real shame as the pub is in one the pest locations for a sunday lunch.. bar staff and food service arrogant and make customers feel not wanted while they chatter to each other.. but food is simply AWFUL - they serve whatever they can get away with.. and if you complain they make out the customers is at fault... i cannot emphasise enough what a complete let down this place is.

 Great local!
Carriers is my favourite place in leith. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Great atmosphere. Never got a bad pint in there. Everybody seems to be complementing pies only but there is so much to it. Loads of different bottles and I think over 15 drafts... Great place.

 Living in the Past.
Ohhhhhhhhh grow up
That was nearly a quarter of a century ago.
The Pub has changed and now is a thriving pub for everyone and the food is really good and it's mostly families that come in. but everybody will get a real Edinburgh welcoming

This pub is the reason i no longer have a father but a he/she who no longer wants to see his grandchildren and doesnt care about his family or the shame and humiliation he put my mother through

 Blast from the Past
Takes me back to my childhood
There was allsorts of rumours about the Noble
I Guess that's why they had the stained windows , to keep prying eyes out as you could still be jailed for being Homosexual.
My Uncle Ian who was homesexual loved this place and used to get me and my sister to do his make up before he went to the noble on a saturday night. A lot of the men were married anf terrified about their family finding out and used to store their dresses and wigs at the pub.

It was our 1st visit to the old chain pier and first impressions were that it was well laid out and decorated, nice views etc however it went down hill from there. Stood for a while before I then had to ask where to sit and had to ask for menus.

We were very surprised at how tiny the portions were and food very average once it finally came. I would recommend for drinks only!!
Sunday, June 17, 2012Rating: rosettes

A shame about the food
 Bad food
A nice view but the chefs obviously do not care about the food they serve. Go for drinks only and eat somewhere else.

unsatisfied customer
 service of no standard
waiters don't have a clue. took plates away while people will still eating - extra butter was thrown onto the table. asked to order a dessert, received the menu but the waiter never came back to ask if we'd like to order. not recommended for large groups. pie with veg - no veg to be seen only a few salad leaves. pity. they have an awful lot to learn.

 Never Again
I recently had an evening meal at the starbank with my girlfriend and was disgusted by the lack of hygiene that the person that served us had. the woman wearing black clothes was sweaty, had bad breath and smelled of BO! she was more interested in serving a large group than us. I am used to dining in fine eateries and this place is certainly not one. I was even thinking of complaining to Bellhaven over this but I was persauded not to by my girlfriend since it was christmas time..My girlfriend and I will not be returning. Nigel

 Good food
Great food as always and took our guests from Canada for a meal.
Only criticism would be the offputting couple who were getting a bit amorous in the corner. We made a complaint but the bar staff were not willing to do anything about this. It was a bit uncomfortable to say in the least!

 the Port
I can think of no better description than to say this is simply an institution.
Had it reverted to selling some of the best cask ales on the market, it would have the entire complement of rosettes from me. Idiosyncratic, historic, probably the finest collection of seafaring oddities in the country (I include the clientèle), it's as close to the perfect pub in any large port I've seen.

 Brilliant food, service and atmosphere
We went to the pub for some lunch and came away raving about the food, service and how nice an atmosphere the pub has. I had the steak burger which was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Amazing!!!

 Good pub poor staff
Gents toilets stick of bleach so much that it makes your eyes run. Rude barmaid who kept the door open to let freezing cold air in. The result was many people left, including me and friends. Perhaps that is what she wanted. Dreadful woman.

 Nobles Bar
My father owned Nobles Bar back in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Back then it was a men only drinking establishment, frequented by the workers from the dock area. The bar was in the centre of the room, but the stain glass windows look the same

Despite a couple of bad reviews above, a one time bad experience does not a bad pub make. Forget the toilets, which are small and in need of decoration, this place is the definition of class. Great food, in both restaurant and bar. the slight rise in price (hardly double) is worth the extra level of service and the amazing selection of dishes. Maybe the menu isn't large, but it is clever. I visit this pub regularly and i have never had a bad meal or bad service. Plus the breakfasts are amazing.

Customer care trained bar staff. The best pint of Deuchars in the universe. Quiz nights where competition is high and cheating is rife.  Kings War, the shore, leith
BEWARE if you book a table at the kings wark, the shore, leith as they take your booking but do not tell you that you then have to take a meal from the a la carte menu. which is double the price and half the choice! ridiculous really when you are sitting not more than 10 feet away from people who can select from the other menu.

A very popular local band were informed on the day of a gig that the gig at the Harbour was cancelled due to 'a lack of beer!!!

This is one of the most badly run pubs in Edinburgh - the manager informed me that 'business was bad hence no live music!'. Treating experienced entertainers like they do it is no wonder that business is bad!!
