Didn't Order a punch with that pint
The Haywain used to be a great place to catch up with friends and have family gatherings but since the change of ownership, it has gone down hill unless you are still a regular there. I have heard from many people the landlady and family are very loud, rough and make you feel very unwelcome if you are not a recognised customer. My experience there recently proved that they were right. Extremely rough, the landlady seems to get very drunk and forgets its a public house and NOT her private home and has caused a punch up with a few people for no known reasons. This will no longer be the place i would go any more, such a shame because previous landlords were lovely.

 Noisy and full of yougsters
Seems to have changed management in the last year or so. Noisy, very commercial and full of youngsters. Shame 'cos it used to be a nice place.

 Good pub, shame about ?landlord
I visited the Cups for drinks with friends, having been there a few times before and liked the atmosphere of the pub by the coast. Today I wasnt so sure, we observed Al, the landlord, shouting at one of the staff (a young girl). tHIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and it makes the customers feel uncomfortable. I think a lesson in staff handling is needed! If this is the way he treats his staff he'l have none left!!
Needless to say a good few of fellow drinkers felt the same. What a tit!
wont be drinking there for a while

 appalling service!!!!
If you get short changed in the roof don't expect to ever get it back!! I waited till they shut and cashed up to get my money back then was intimidated and sworn at by the bouncers while the manager had the cheek to call me a liar!! I will definately not be going back as I still can't believe how I was treated there!! Cr*p customer service!!

th reason people queue to get into the roof it because it is an awesome pub. the staff are cool, the drink is cheap and theres always a good atmosphere in there. everyone seems to know everyone, and one of the only pubs in bridgend where you can go outside with your drink. the roof rules. end of.

Jonathan Lloyd
Lloyd's living at the Hay Wain
I think my great great grandfather lived in the Hay wain in the mid/late 1800's.
Is it about 1 1/2 miles outside bridgend.
Is it a village or was the house called Waun- y scael or something similar

Mr Iblis Ab Glyndwr
 Not Welcome
The stewardess of this establishment, in my opinion is very out of order. It was an early summers evening and my wife and I pulled into the rear car park of the public house in question. I drove around the car park once as I was searching for a place to park my car, unfortunately the car park was rather crowded with vehicles and so i continued to drive around the car park in search for a space in which to park my vehicle. As my wife has terrible trouble with her ankles, I was required to park where there were 2 sapces available for parking, in order for me to assist m wife from departing from our car once I had parked. Of course this was proving somewhat of a task trying to find 2 free spaces together. By this time I had probbly circled the car park 3 times in around 2 minutes. With that the Stewardess of the Public House in question appeared, so I wound dwon my window only to be informed that (and I quote) Right you are making a nuisance yourself on the premises, the police have been called and I won't tolerate this behaviour in my pub. Both my wife and I were gobsmacked and somewhat distressed by this and as I tried to talk to the stewardess she walked away with her back to me the whole time muttering words I do not wish to repeat. I had no option but to leave the car park feeling like a criminal fleeing from the scene, yet all I had done was to have entered the car park merely searching for a parking space. My wife and I have been deeply upset by this incident and we fell the stewardess in question was very out of order. My wife has found it too hard to even constider going out to a public house since the event. I can confidently say that my wife or I shall never be going to these premises again and nor will we be wishing to go anywhere within the vicinity of it.
