 Many happy memeries
We used to visit the New York bar fist on our trips to Wakefield. Great music and atmosphere. Always put us in a good mood for the rest of the night. Shame it is no more.

The best pub that was! Now closed
I used to work in Leeds in the late 80s. This place got into my psyche. It was just the best music and atmosphere I have ever experienced before or since. I came back to Leeds for a week December 2013. The place is now a kebab shop and an asian supermarket. This is a tragedy.

 the lupset
the lupset has now been taken over by 2 very heart warming managers dean and pam they have turned the pub around within a such short space if time and more and more customers have started visiting the pub as the amtmosphere is great to be around, since taking over the lupset they have restarted serving food on sundays ~(carvery) dean is a full qualified chef and the food that is served is simply devine a nice place for familes to come and enjoy a bite to eat and socialize there humor is incredibly halairious, dean and pam have such warm heart and want the pub to work for local's and none locals whome stop by for a quick drink, they are now organising various event nights from: dubstep nights to 80's nights the lupset is now loved and cared for again and hopefully will stay this way

MiniMe
 Re_Opened July 2011
After being closed for the last couple of years, this pub has now gotten a new lease of life and is once again open to the public as from 13th July 2011.
The pub has had a total refurbishment both downstairs for the general day to day use and upstairs for venues, parties, celebrations room hire. .
You will find the management some of the most friendly and the atmosphere is one of the most welcoming you will find around for miles. . . This brand new takeover will bring friends old and new together once again and the prices are lower than the local clubs on a lot of products. CALL IN and enjoy time out. Good luck to the new owners-management from Mini Me.

 Thursday Jam Night
Went to the Thursday Jam night last night. Great to see the main man play again. Was a little disappointed when a genius with a 7 string Ibanez only got three songs and wasn't asked back up again. Maybe he was a little too good ;-)

Strange Frontier
 The Lupset?
It used to be OK but the menu is extremely basic, and it's pot luck if the food is going to be fit to eat!
Very frosty atmosphere the last time I was in there..
I'd rather go to Thornes Park with a KFC and a couple of Cans..

I am from Leeds and visited this pub after visitng friends locally. Felt most unwelcome by staff and clientelle so drank my drink and left sharpish for fear of violence. Not recommended if not a regular!

rambling society
 local pub for local people
Be prepared for a very cold and unwelcoming reception from Frosty Bob .This pub has a group of undesirable people stood in the corridor who mock and heckle any newcomers and the manager Bob seems to find this amusing. It is quite obvious that many people in this pub never travel outside the village as their vocabulary and conversation skills suggest- be warned !

Thursday, August 25, 2005Rating: rosettes

The mole
 Terrible, would never go again
It was a very unfriendly place, and part way through the evenign the barman approaced us, accused us of causing criminal damage to his pub and kicked us out (we did not cause the damage by the way, the only reason we were accused is because we were sat near the toilets (which were filthy and stank)) we were then threatened by some of the bar staff until we left. one of our party left his coat in the pub, and upon returning to retrieve it he was met with abuse and the bar staff refused to return it, claiming that one of our party was seen leavign with it after he caused the damage. the drinks appeared to be watered down as well.

I started going to the Jockey at just 16. It's a great place for bikers and metal fans to hang out. The staff are great too, especially the landlady (Jackie). I moved overseas so unfortunately I cant be there. It also has the best pint of Carling in the area. Will be flying back to england soon, and the Jockey will be my first stop.
