( in answer to bill), Cloud cuckoo land or not the scotthall pub is legendary in a good way, anybody who went in it regularly or lived round here will vouch for that. yes of cousre it had its moments but dont all pubs on occassions, its missed and only came to an end because of out of area drug users

Keith is spot on to describe the scotthall as a war zone . I really think terry barker is living in cloud cuckoo land to say the place is anything otherwise.

 a nightmare
I think the scotthall was like a war zone especially on a disco night. Bottles cans and various missiles being thrown by the local drunks. at times I thought myself very lucky to leave the place with all my limbs intact.

 NICE PUB
VERY PLEASENT PUB, NICE BAR STAFF, VERY GOOD WITH PEOPLE,
ONLY BAD THING WAS I GOT INTO CONVERSATION WITH A LOCAL WHO ALL HE TALKED ABOUT WAS HIS GIRLFRIENDS BED WETTING.
BUT I SUPOSE THAT EVERY PUB HAS ONE, AND NOW I KNOW TO GIVE HIM A WIDE BIRTH IF I GO IN AGAIN.

 Leeds centre pub
this little gem of a pub serves the best Timothy Taylors beer in yorkshire, and the food is suprisingly good, sourcing its own ingredients locally. A friendly atmosphere finishes this comfortable place off. Will be back again very soon.

what a disgracefull excuse for a pub. 1 the place is filthy 2 the place smells like a sewer. 3 the clientelle are intimidating and look like they have beendraggedfrom a rubbish dump. 4 full of drunken foul mouthed loats 5 the beer is cheap but tastes pretty vile. come on sam smiths get your act together and improve the place you are adisgrace to leeds. the council should board it up it reflects badly on theb image leeds is trying to project to the rest of the country and on the councillors who areb the supposed custodians.

Smashing little back street boozer.Full of character and a myriad of choice of fine beers on draught. Musicians frequently play at this pub and music is always to be heard. Pleasant bar staff always willing to help and a ambiance to relax in. The customers are only too willing to engage in conversation and banter to add to the atmosphere, I think this is probably the best traditional pub in central Leeds long may it continue.

 Fantastic Pub, Best In Leeds
I have never found a pub like this one in a city centre. Great service, fantastic choice of cask ales and larger and oh my the food is classic pub grub!! Great Value we got 2 pints and two meals for only £8.38. Now that's what I call VALUE. Very friendly staff and a lovely landlady who gives that personal touch. We would like to say a big thanks and will be telling all our friends to call in,we will be again.

 Charming Pub Hotel Restaurant
The Elmwood is a pleasant place to drop in for a pint of Black Sheep bitter. Its great for lunches and evening meals alike. The Hotel is not too expensive, and its a great place to have a function such as a wedding. Its a Brewers Fayre, so its cheep but very cheerful. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

 food
We visted the Roundhay Fox last week and had an awful meal. The food was bad quality and badly cooked. Although the bar staff were friendly, the waiting staff were clearly not interested in customer satisfaction the girl serving us did even seem to notice/care we had hardly touched our food and just took the plates back to the kitchen. No one bothered to ask if the food was ok - i guess they were just used to no one finishing their food.

Another pub soon to be turned into a housing estate. Sited on prime develpment land and beset by under investment and weak landlords. A brief turnaround due to a good landlord banning the local scum will probably be reversed now he's gone. Watch this space for declining takings, increasing problems and a loss of license.

Shortly to be followed by a planning application for more yuppie flats.

We used to call it The True Bastard, and I'm sure we will again, but there's no money in running a dive, and a lot of cash in building land.

Steve
 Knocked down
And turned into flats. 5 years ago.

The brewery installed a criminal as a landlord to get the place closed after the pub had a brief renaissance under good management. The subsequent loss of license meant they could easily cash in on selling of the land.

As far as I am aware thid pub has closed down if not pulled down. My Parents had the pub until 1970. They ran it brilliantly as tennants to Tetleys brewery, then they left Leeds for Harrogate, the pub became a managed house and was never the same again according to old customers. Una and Eric Roberts, my parents,. have since passed away

Mrs. June Dawson.
Disappointing visit to Roundhay Fox Leeds.
Visited the Roundhay Fox on the 21st July with my husband and daughter for Lunch as we had been very pleasedwith both the service and the quality when we had visited previously - on at least three occasions. However, even allowing for it being busy, apparently two members of staff hadnt turned up, the service was poor. First of all, food orders were not being taken at the usual ordering place, and my husband had to join the queue at the bar to place his order. At that time, there was only two members of staff serving, one being a young lady taking food orders and also serving drinks, and a young man serving drinks, whilst another staff member was re-stocking the shelves with clean glasses. Whilst I appreciate that this is a necessity there were still glasses on the shelf, and surely serving customers should take precedence especially when there are several customers waiting. He eventually started serving.
As for the food, whilst you can't say anything specifically about it, we were generally disappointed in its quality and taste. The starters were bland tasting, my daughter had ordered chips instead of potatoeswith her main course, but was still given potatoes, although the waiter offered to change it, but we had waited long enough. Both my husband and I had ordered fish and chips, my fish was extremely greasy, the chips only just warm and both our helpings of peas were also just warm.
We had to ask for sauces, which had always been brought before and also had to ask for more cutlery. The puddings were o.k. but nothing outstanding.

One final criticism, whilst I can appreciate it that it had been an extremely busy day for all the staff, the young lady clearing the tables looked distinctly unkempt, although her manner was pleasant and on the go all of the time. In fact, one or two of the staff looked in need of a wash and brush up.

This experience has made us feel inclined not to make a repeat visit, which is very disappointing because we have always looked forward to visiting the Roundhay Fox when we had come up to Leeds.

I don't know if this was all down to staff changes, but I hope that this critique will be brought to the attention of those responsible for maintaining and monitering standards.

June and Stuart Dawson.

You'll never find friendlier staff, fantastic service and brilliant dj's in any other city centre venue. The beer's cheap during the week, ideal for business lunches or for after work drinks. It is great. Friday nights over there seem to be the most enjoyable time of the week where you know in advance that you are going to have some quality time with some quality freinds. I do have to agree with Gerome, Gav and oli make the Brickies the best and most enjoyable pub in Leeds.

 Brickies for ever!!!
Believe me the Brickies is probably one the very best pubs in Leeds (and the competition is pretty tough isnt'it?), mainly thanks to the tremendous bar staff (especially Irish Gav' and Oli) and all the games (quizz machines, pool table, dart board, fruit machines, etc...). Even though the nights there are to be remembered, you tend to have forgotten most of it the following morning...
