 poor service rude staff
On holiday last week and called in for some food . Was told bluntly by the scowling lady slumped behind the bar were not serving anymore this despite that it was only 7.20 and the sign says they serve untill 8. Oh sorry to have bothered you said i as i hurridly walked out and wiped my feet. How people make a living with such attitudes is beyond me.

 scarboroughs best pub
Must be one of the best located Sam S miths pubs in yorkshire
Fantastic views out of the historically themed bow windows all the ships and boats in the harbour gives the impression of being on board a medevial galleon peering out at other marine vessels
The beer is excellent. Sam smiths soveriegn was really delicious and at 1.30 a pint fabulous value. The food really tasty and gave a real nautical ambience to the whole pub. I for one will be back a real memorable experience.

 Urgggh!
From the outside i could not tell whether or not the pub was open or had shut down as it looked semi derelict.Inside was little better, dirty ,dark and musty, and a welcome to match .Decided against trying the food after seeing some from the previous day under one of the tables.Womens toilets were a disgrace .

 Uplifting
My friends treated me to lunch after i was released from hospital. I had just had a ganglion removed and was feeling low.Mouse could sense my mood and impulsively he took my hand and sung me a sweet lullaby. As tears rolled from my eyes he dabbed them gently with a beer mat.I wont ever forget the lovely special man.

 The Mouse Experience
Mouse is a very under-rated belcher. He has taken years to perfect his renditions of 'Mummy', 'Daddy', 'Bowyer' and 'Bowyer-ba'. So before you go slating the Mouse, take time out to think what effort has gone into this.

 A NEW MOUSE
My dear friend Gloria Morris and myself often call in for a sweet sherry on our way to bingo .Last friday young mouse was at the bar looking rather dapper and he smiled sweetly at us both .He did break wind slightly but this could have been nerves.I feel that he has cleaned up his act.

 The lord can help him.
I have every sympathy for all those people who have suffered from the behaviour of mouse.I myself have been a victim of his loutish antics ( he burped in my face whilst chewing on a pickled egg as my flock were taking lunch, and his breath was very toxic with a strong sulphuric odour). However I believe that if mouse looks deep inside himself and with the help of our lord then he can become a better person. I ask the community to support him.

I believe that the landlord used to feed mouse with free pickled eggs and dregs from the drip trays, thus causing sulphur in his strointestinal tract. Therefore his deafening belches would be not malicous he just cant help it.Please do not be offended by his gastro problems as it is better coming out of this end.

My family has strong history of association with this hostelry and it is a crying shame that one person can cause so much trouble .My forefathers would have marched this mouse individual to the stocks and had him publicly humiliated. How upsetting it must have been for your uncle.

Mouse warning - please heed .
I witnessed one of these belches one sunday afternoon during lunch and it left me quite shaky. My 89 year old uncle was stood next to this young mouse character and was left with temporary deafness and suffered a flashback to the burmese war from which he suffered shellshock.I do hope that the new landlords will have a word with him as it is very unsocial.

 Village Food Pub
This was a Pubmaster pub for many years and has been through the hands of several lanlords in the last few years without success. The Star (just over the road) had the upper hand despite not doing food. Recently re-opened in 2005. Does food, but it is a chain-pub so nothing too exciting. It has been redocorated and looks nice, could take someone there for the evening without being embarrassed! There's a chipy over the road if you just want a beer in the pub. Very handy for several local campsites.

 Campers Pub
One for the visitors really. enormously popular with the campers, has nice bars for sitting and drinking, does food, plenly of play activities for the kids. Nice a petrol station and a roundabout. It's not on a campsite but is close to several, seems to close down in the winter when the campsites do.

 Last of the Summer Wine
This pub or at least its exterior features in the first of a two-part special in which the guys visit Scaborough for a weekend. Compo brings his ferrets! Filmed in 1976. The interiror shots are clearly a studio set. Nicely placed just 8 miles from the centre of Scarborough on the A64 on the left as you approach Scarborough.

 country village pub
The address given here is wrong. This is village pub to the north of Scarborough. The turn off to it is on a left hand bend in the road (as ou leave Scarborough) be careful or you'll miss it. Nice country pub, outdoor area in summer, food is a major part of its business but still has a good selection of beers. Worth the effort of getting there, not bland brand-pub.

 Popular Village Pub
Situated in Cayton in the south of Scarborough. Big outdoor seating area for summer use. Often has burgers and hotdogs for sale in the summer. Beer is nothing special, no real ale. Has all local sports games on in its several rooms. Handy if staying in local campsites. No bar meals proper. Good atmosphere when busy. Worth a visit if on holiday in Scarborough. Samall rooms means it can get VERY smoky on match days! (Loses a point for that)

Olde-worlde, cottage pub. Was the last pub in England to serve all beers from a jug. Now serves normally, a bit out of the way but well worth the effort, this is what they mean by a real country pub. Do not miss it.

 You'll never clear your plate!
As a pub the beer is just average but the food is more than the biggest appetite can cope with. But the important point is the plates aren't filled up with cheap chips; you'll find tons of good veg and loads of succelent meat. The fish is more the size of a small dolphin! And if you get scampi you can get up to 30 pieces! (We've counted them). Where possible get the small roast dinner - bet you won't finish it! Just 5.95

 Gastro-pub
Serves high quality grub, more a restaurant than a pub. But village of Seamer has 2 other pubs of note, the Mayfield and the Londesborough - both also do very good food (and accomodation)

 Brand-name pub
Really a food-pub, no decent beer to mention. Has kids area which is a further anathema to beer drinkers as they rarely stay in the area, seen kids in high chairs at meals with parents at 9 o'clock at night! Antithesis of what a real pub is all about. Used to be a regular user of the bar and the food but no more...

Peter Holmes
 Quality beer.live music pub
Graham & Irene Forrest, in their 3rd pub, have transformed a grotty, rundown pub into a thriving oasis of banter, quality ales & live music sessions. Bareboards & no food with odd opening hours. Friendly atmosphere but kids not welcomed.

 Agreed !
Yes, agreed, anyone who knows scarborough will tell you that this pub is located around the North Marine road area, one of the towns blackspots for druggies, heaven knows why nice people would want to drink here.

Rough and tacky !!!

 family history
hello - my name is sylvia crawshaw and i believe my great aunt isabella craggs stayed at this tavern back in 1901. I wondered where I could get information about this along with the history of the tavern? Her husband was william craggs.

Lovely outlook. Very good Butcombe beer. Chosen for dog and child friendly and not being stuck in a back room.
